Suzy Shuster: Sarah's Son 'Her Favorite Prop of This Campaign Season'
NewsBusters.org ^ | 10/03/2008 | Mike Bates

Posted on 10/03/2008 11:03:00 AM PDT by Mike Bates

Just when you think mainstream media people can't stoop much lower in their final stages of Palin Derangement Syndrome, they plunge to new depths. Suzy Shuster works as a sideline reporter for ABC Sports. She also blogs at the Huffington Post. Her most recent contribution is,"Say It Ain't So: Trig Palin's Post-Debate Photo Op." She describes what irritated her most at last night's vice presidential debate:

It actually came after the debate, when for seemingly the millionth time, Sarah Palin trotted out her piece de resistance, her favorite prop of this campaign season: her five and a half month old son Trig.

Why is this child up so late every time there is a camera op? Why isn't this baby sleeping in a crib or bassinet somewhere with a sleep sheep or some other sound apparatus lulling him into night-night? Is it just me or does it seem like she carts this poor child around like a living breathing example of how wonderful a mom she is? After all, she's more than adopted the "I'm just a mom, just like you moms out there, America" attitude.

But the truth is, if she was just like all you other Moms out there, America, then she'd know the best thing she can do for this infant is to make sure he is tucked safely in his bed and out cold at eleven pm. And please don't say well, maybe she doesn't have anyone to watch him. Believe that, and I've got a Bridge to Nowhere that I want to sell you.

Shuster isn't the first to challenge Palin's parenting skills and motivation. Last month the publisher of Harper's Magazine made the same accusation that the baby is used as a political prop.

Naturally, Shuster's post was received by HuffPo readers with a rash of comments critical of Palin, references to "white trash," and other statements that you'd expect from open-minded liberals.

I can't claim particular expertise on the subject of when a baby should sleep. In my experience as a father and grandfather, though, it seems to me babies keep their own schedule to a great extent. I'd be most reluctant to judge other parents harshly because their baby isn't asleep at 8:00 PM or whatever hour has been designated as the requirement.

Moreover, there's little doubt that some of the liberals so critical of the Palin baby's schedule would have preferred that a special needs child be aborted in the first place. Their open-mindedness can only be extended so far.

In last night's debate, Joe Biden made a point about not questioning an opponent's motives. Shuster and other mainstream media figures have no problem doing exactly that much of the time.

Perhaps Suzy does not realize that ordinary mothers and families like to have their babies around being passed from lap to lap instead of being put to bed by a nanny. Typical feminist crap saying she is using him as a prop. She is really doing us a favor by enraging real mothers.

It is simple to me: Trig Palin is a visual reminder to all abortionists of the guilt and shame they feel within.

Lashing out at Sarah and Trig is classic example of "projection". Ms. Schuster likely has had an abortion herself, and has feelings of self-loathing which she cannot come to terms with, and must attack others who value life in order to maintain her wall of denial.

It would be sad if it were not so evil.

“It actually came after the debate, when for seemingly the millionth time, Sarah Palin trotted out her piece de resistance, her favorite prop of this campaign season: her five and a half month old son Trig.”

This is despicable!!

Did Barack “trot out” his kids when they joined him at the convention? Biden’s wife and family joined him, why does no one accuse him of “trotting out” his dead wife when he needs sympathy?

I am done. Matter of fact Susie Dogpile, please keep it up! Because the EXTREME amount of bile you spew just makes our side look better and better.

Psst, Suzy. Trig is on Alaskan Time, which is four hours earlier than Eastern Time.

So, when the debate ended at 10:30pm Eastern Time, Trig’s time was only 6:30 pm.

Now, take that all in and try to understand it. In the meantime, until it suddenly dawns on you that you’re an idiot, SHUT UP.

That being said, who cares if he is? I personally think it’s great that Palin is showing she’s a mom AND she can take on the VP slot and still do great.

So shove off naysayers.

Democrats, ESPECIALLY insane Socialist moonbat ones, aren’t used to having the “Unassailable Victim Card” played AGAINST THEM.

If Palin wins, she can attack these victim-using attacks by saying she UNDERSTANDS the plight of Working Mothers, the Handicapped, healthcare, unionists, etc., and she thinks you are WRONG.

Using-The-Victim attacks are a HALLMARK of today’s Democrat Party Propoganda.

But getting votes is not the reason Sarah is carrying Trig around.

These A$$ HAT Dem women from their ivy league schools think that they know in their arrogance " what is best for the child."

They have no freekin idea.

Trig would rather be with his mom, wherever she is, under whatever condition. These barren handmaidens of vagina monologue proportions have no clue about raising children.

I bet if Suzy Shuster had a baby, she’d realize Trig isn’t a political prop.

And maybe she'd realize that babies don't pay attention to clocks. A baby doesn't care what time it is, if baby wants to be awake at midnight, it'll make sure to wake you up too. There's absolutely nothing wrong with bringing your baby with you wherever you have to go. If baby wants to sleep, it'll sleep even in noisy environments. If baby wants to be awake, it'll be awake even in dimly lit silence. As a new dad I've had these concepts drilled into me. It's the most basic principle in parenting an infant; wherever you go, baby goes with you. This is doubly true if you're a breastfeeding mom. I'm sure Shuster wouldn't care enough about her own children to put herself through the discomfort and trouble of breastfeeding though, so it's no surprise that she's clueless.

Although someone said they think she has had one child, I can't seem to find any info on it. If she has had a child then she's the world's most ignorant mother of all time. That, or she's just playing stupid to score cheap shot political points. After all, liberals think children are a punishment, so how could any of her libtard readers know any better? If they're willing to believe that Palin faked her pregnancy to cover up for her daughter, surely they'll have an even easier time latching onto this ignorant criticism.

Ugh. If Palin had not brought Trig out or even along, never brought him along, 'left him to sleep in his crib', attended to by his dad or a nanny, Suz would be the first to blast her for 'hiding' her son with a disability or putting her VP job ahead of her infant, or both. Suzy is grasping at straws, has nothing substantial, so launches a personal attack du jour (changeable as needed).

Good point, also it might be useful to note that by alaska time, the debate ended around 6:00pm, not unreasonable at all. In any case, I still maintain that there's nothing inherently wrong with bringing a baby with you late at night (as long as it's a safe environment) since babies don't care what time it is - they're going to do whatever they were going to at home anyway.
