Sarah Palin criticized John McCain's decision to pull campaign resources out of Michigan in an interview with FOX News on Friday, saying she and her husband Todd would "be happy" to campaign in the economically distraught battleground state.
The Republican vice presidential nominee, on the heels of her debate with Joe Biden, also took a second stab at questions that seemed to trip her up during recent interviews, declaring that she looks "forward to speaking to the media more and more every day."
Palin said the decision to pull out of Michigan, which was announced Thursday, was "not a surprise" to her since polls show McCain slipping in the state.
But Palin said that when she read the news, she "fired off a quick e-mail and said, 'Oh come on, do we have to?'"
"Todd and I, we'd be happy to get to Michigan ...We'd be so happy to speak to the people there in Michigan who are hurting," she said. "Whatever Todd and I can do in realizing what their challenges in that state are .... I wanna get back to Michigan and I want to try."
Tune in to FOX News throughout the day, and watch Special Report at 6 p.m. ET, to see more of the Palin interview.

Palin told FOX News on Friday that she reads the same newspapers and magazines as everyone else, "including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal and The Economist."
She said she "shouldn't have been so flippant" on the Supreme Court question. "I can cite a lot of cases that I absolutely disagree with the Supreme Court on."
She cited the June decision that child rapists cannot be executed, as well as the 2005 decision that local governments can seize private land for purposes of economic development.

Excellent place to start establishing HER Maverick status!

This sounds like mccain is not communicating to his VP. Considering Sara is the ONLY reason he is still in the game, this is VERY disappointing!
She is a breath of fresh air. The campaign needs to put her out front.
Was this orchestrated? John wants to pull out of Michigan, but his Main Street USA blue-collar running mate talks him out of it and delivers the state? Just wondering...

"Sorry, Sarah, No do-overs."

I love this woman!!!!!!!!!!!!
kristinn, make sure this gets to the right people!
Sarah and Todd need to come to Northern Michigan! We are not Detroit, we are Republicans, and I for one am tired of getting the short end of the stick! C’mon, Bush II came to our little town twice! (you don’t have to tell them that I stood in line for 5 hours with our 1 yr old grandson in a stroller, only to be told the tickets were all gone.)
When I heard about McCain pulling out of Michigan, I felt like he was saying we are not important enough to fight for. So...if he doesn’t care, why should we?
Oh, yeah, and archery deer season just started, we could take Sarah and Todd out hunting!
video? audio?
Maybe McKook was too busy trying to get a hold of Al Gore to offer him a cabinet position to discuss Michigan with Palen.
John McCain is treating her like an employee and not a partner.

Seems like Perky Katie got set up, big time.
And she fell right into it.
Sorry, Katie, you got PWNED!
She would have saved a lot of discomfort if she had just said that the other day with Couric.
No it doesn't. McCain didn't announce a Michigan pull-out. It was leaked by staffers or others who could see the writing on the wall.
She knows McCain is done after proving she can handle a debate just fine she is now running her own campaign for 2012.
That’s what I was thinking
Sarah should have stated, "Well you know K-K-K-Katie, everyone gets their news from the web these days. By the way, what website are you at?"
There’s nothing disloyal about it. If McCain felt obliged to pull money out of Michigan to use elsewhere, he had to admit it, because otherwise the Dems would have announced it for him.
But this way, she is earning the favor of voters in Michigan, without forcing McCain to spend a dime. It undercuts the opposition mantra, “McCain doesn’t care about the poor, depressed jobless in Michigan.”
I’d say this is a no-brainer.
edited to add:
We already saw McCain in 2000. We want Sarah!! We have hockey and hunting and snowmachines, but no snow...yet!
This is 1976 all over again...the GOP nominated the wrong person.
I think it was the other way around. Palin got hit with questions that it has apparently taken several days, and God knows how much coaching, to come up with answers for. Just a little bit late...
Sign me up :)

This is why McCain is going to win. This woman is amazing and even the public sees that the media is totally in odumbos tank
It would make sense. They’re former union people. They can talk to and relate to union people.
Sounds like she first heard about the decision by reading it in the newspaper. Rush was just commenting on this.
This wouldn't be the first time they've played strategy with the media. Right after the convention, they cut off the media access to her, took her out to gin up large crowds. Then, when the media whined and cried about not being able to interview, they gave her some lame responses to lowball the expectations. Then she gave that great performance last night, and knocked it out of the park.
They can play any games they want to with the media, as far as I'm concerned!
Good for her!
Traverse City is pretty in the fall.
the right guy wasn't 'perky' enough...remember?
Put my comments in perspective with the debate last night.
Attract a large audience to see how bad she might be, then wow them with a great performance.
A couple of million watched the Couric interviews, forty million or so saw the debate.
I live in Michigan, they can stay at my house.
YOu are right: it is all about 2012 now — which is why you can count on seeing the GOPer “experts” and old boy network party regulars continue trying to cut this wonderful lady’s legs off. If she wins and becomes the new face of the Republican Party, all of the now-entrenched old faces know they will soon be looking in different mirrors — probably in the unemployment office restroom.
Yes. And?
So DOLE should have been at the top of the ticket in 1976. LOLOLOL
Rush was just talking about McCain praising Gore. Makes me think just maybe it wouldn’t be the worst thing if he lost. I’ll still vote for him but he isn’t making it easy.
I heard Palin’s comments about MI and and cringed a bit when she said people are “hurtin.’” The down home style of speaking has some appeal but she needs to sound a little sharper I think.
I am so hopelessly in love.
“She cited the June decision that child rapists cannot be executed, as well as the 2005 decision that local governments can seize private land for purposes of economic development.”
I was yelling, ‘mention Kelo, Sarah!!”
LOL!
Concur. Odd how many people are so willing to turn on McCain at this late date.
Can we “earmark” contributions to the McCain campaign to be spent only by Sarah?
Uh, yeah, that’s disticntly possible. Or even while Pelosi is threatining show trial to try and pin the bailout on Republicans, McCain is probably too busy working to reach across the aisle.
And she's apparently acting like a top salesman who holds all the major accounts.
She can't be fired. But she can be fired up.
Geez, now there’s a good idea.
We'll find out. It could have been a clever set-up.
Here’s a thought, John, let Sarah go to MI and raise buckets of money for your campaign to keep the office open there.
If she had, I'm sure Katie would have then pooped up with a lot of gotcha questions, like "who is your favorite NYT columnist, and what was you favorite column of theirs?" I think Sarah knew that whatever answer she gave would be picked apart, so she chose not to go there with Katie. However, she felt comfortable enough that Fox would report her answeres without gotchas or editing.
