Hmmm, “militants” they say. Would that be like tax protesters or would it be people who cut off heads and plant bombs that kill innocent civilians?

Reuters report:
NATO launches airstrike near Pakistan-Afghan border
***************************EXCERPT*************************
Fri Oct 3, 2008 11:27am EDT
By Augustine Anthony
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - NATO launched an airstrike near the Afghan border with Pakistan on Friday, but there was no intrusion into Pakistani territory, a Pakistani military spokesman said, contradicting accounts by intelligence officials in the region.
Major-General Athar Abbas said the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force had informed Pakistan it would be conducting an operation across the border from North Waziristan, a Pakistani tribal region known as a hotbed of Taliban and al Qaeda support.
"ISAF informed us at around 4:00 p.m. (6:00 a.m. EDT) that they were conducting an operation in Afghanistan, across from North Waziristan," Abbas said.
"There was no violation, no incursion or intrusion on our side."

is they report is true, I think we got a biggie from Al Qaeda......If there were 18 foreigners out of 20, it is certain to be one of the top al qaeda guys. Maybe Dr Zawahri....I was reading last week he just got away recently in Bajuer province, so maybe our boys tracked him here.

A local official said that 21 were killed including 16 foreigners, adding that most of those were Arabs. Pakistani officials use the terms Arab and foreigner to describe militants linked to the Al-Qaeda network.

AP saying only three ...sniff.
To: jveritas
The turmoil in Pakistan is probably leading the new leaders to use intelligence assets to infiltrate the tribal areas and provide time sensitive intelligence. At least that's my speculation.

U.S. or NATO? I'm corn-fused.
But as long as there are some terrorists who have ceased to breathe, I'm cool with it.

Its good to be be cool in Iraq... Literally, too. It's pretty cool outside tonight. And the days are delightful now with mild temps and deep blue skies.
Seasons do not approach gradually in Iraq. It's like someone flips a switch. Two weeks ago, we were sweltering. Now, we've all got a spring in our steps and are spending much more time outside.

We need more air surgeons sent into action. So many rug heads have to be pulverized in their hiding places.
But at the same time the Pakistani government must increase it's tough stance against all areas within the FATA regions and make it clear their troops(ground and air assets) will increase in magnitude against the Islamic radicals.
It does appear the new government has made a bit of real headway. Shall we start to read some favorable reports as to how their ISI is directing the military to go after al Qaeda and the Taliban. Time will tell.

From JAWA Report:
Update on Suspected US missile strike kills 20 in Pakistan article
**************************EXCERPT************************
Six of the Arabs were buried in the village Saturday morning, while militants took the other two bodies to an undisclosed location, they said.
The officials, who asked for anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media, said they had no information indicating that a senior militant leader was killed.
I suspect we just witnessed the removal of two bodies to an undisclosed location was an effort to conceal the death of a senior leader..
