Palin's Homerun!
Human Events ^ | 10-3-08 | Gary Bauer

Posted on 10/03/2008 7:01:24 AM PDT by Wolf13

Going into last night’s vice presidential debate, Big Media had molded the very negative narrative that John McCain had committed a fundamental mistake by selecting Sarah Palin as his running mate. Her recent interviews, they said, proved that she was not ready to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. That narrative even had some media commentators predicting that a bad performance in the debate could be a “death blow” for the entire McCain presidential campaign.

But last night Sarah Palin reminded us why so many Americans are galvanized by her candidacy. In fact, she blew last night’s debate out of the water. She knew her facts, talked about her experiences as an executive and as reformer while keeping the focus on the top of the ticket. Things went so well that by night’s end even Obama’s chief campaign strategist, David Axelrod, had to admit, “I think she did very well tonight.”

Damn right, Axelrod! We may have witnessed the revitalization of the McCain campaign. Now if John can keep the momentum going with a strong town-hall presence at the next debate.

I'm soooo glad I turned it on right before Biden uttered the word Bosniacs

I had to laugh out loud. What a great stress reliever!

Bosniac is a real word you know...

Bos·ni·a (bzn-)
1. A region that constitutes the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was settled by Serbs in the 7th century and became an independent state in the 12th century. Bosnia was controlled after 1463 by Turkey and after 1878 by the Austro-Hungarian Empire, which formally annexed Bosnia in 1908. After World War II Bosnia was united with Herzegovina to form a constituent republic of Yugoslavia.

I supposed it (the term) could have been added to Wikipedia just recently (less than 24 hours?) but I doubt it.....

####

Which was bought hook, line and sinker by some even here on FR, based on Governor Palin’s alleged mediocre “performance” (sheesh), during the carefully laid minefield and editing circus known as the Couric interview.

If Conservatism is going to ultimately win, and win it must-Socialism must be exterminated, not simply tolerated, we meed to stop trying to succeed by the alleged standards of the hopelessly biased, propagandizing LeftMedia.

during the carefully laid minefield and editing circus known as the Couric interview.

Most people have no idea what you can do with raw footage of video.

I have video and audio editing experience.

I can make people say things out of context and string unconnected phrases together. I can add dumb-look pauses that go on forever making people look like they have no clue. I can add off-camera questions that have nothing to do with the answers to make the person answering look like an idiot.

“Factual errors”. The words are nicely chosen. However, outright, premeditated lies sums up the situation a bit more apropriately. Biden knew he could go into last night and lie his a** off about senate votes. Palin would have little chance of knowing the truth, nor would most other folks without having spent decades in the arrogance 100.

Thanks.

I had to explain this to my mother yesterday, specifically about the Couric frankenstein edit.

She called me right after the debate:

“I feel a lot better about Palin. Biden seemed like he was just glad to have gotten this far, like it’s as close as he’ll ever get to the Whitehouse. And Obama sure seems so inconsistent.”

Man, I gotta tell ya, that felt so good!

You have to understand, this is also the same day she called to tell me what Dr. Phil was saying on Oprah...

I have not viewed all of the Couric interview footage but from what I have seen, they did Palin no favors in the editing.

Biden: “Vice President Cheney has been the most dangerous vice president we've had probably in American history. The idea he doesn't realize that Article I of the Constitution defines the role of the vice president of the United States, that's the Executive Branch. He works in the Executive Branch. He should understand that. Everyone should understand that.”
First, Article one is the LEGISLATIVE branch not the executive. Everybody should understand that. Furthermore the role of the Vice President is mentioned in BOTH Article I (the Legislative) and Article II (Executive).

So much for Biden the Constitutional scholar.

What a tool.

Also, I thought Sen. Biden had said something about helping out an Obama presidency by working with the legislative branch - this was said BEFORE he criticized VP Cheney.

This stood out for me and I’m glad someone else is mentioning this.

Fidel Castro gets more positive coverage than Sarah Palin.

O.J. Simpson had more people defending him on TV than Sarah Palin.

Al Sharpton (jew hater, riot starter, fraud peddler, murder inciter) gets fawning coverage from the media.

Louis Farrakhan gets far more positive coverage from the media.

I'm really glad that the reaction to her performance has been so positive. I must admit I was pretty scared last night. Obviously, I know she's got her facts and concepts right, but so often that's not what matters.

Biden was using the standard liberal argumentative technique: spout a lot of lies or half-truths masquerading as facts while showing supreme confidence to make himself look knowledgeable. It's hard to fight back with real facts in that case because it's just comes out as he-said-she-said in a debate. Biden knows the media won't call him on any of his lies so he can get away with it. Sarah did her best to retort with concepts, correct concepts of course, but sadly too often people consider spouting information (true or not) as more impressive than articulating concepts.

And all this talk about greedy, predatory lenders with no fingers pointed at the real culprits (Fannie, Freddie, Dodd, Frank, Carter, Clinton, etc.) didn't help any. Obviously that's being fed to her by the campaign to keep in line with McCain's limp-wristed approach to this situation, but they need to realize they can't out-populist the Democrats.

I just really do hope she made a direct connection to the American people. While I'm happy that everyone was so pleased with her performance (I was, too, but I thought she looked nervous, but with that much pressure, who wouldn't be?), the media will do their best to tear it apart. I hope people saw through Biden’s facade and lies cause nothing will be done to dispel those.

I'm guess I'm just getting more and more nervous as we get closer with the way things have been going and the way McCain's been botching things and missing opportunities.
