PALIN WINS BIG WITH A REAGAN-LIKE FLAIR
New York Post ^ | October 3, 2008 | Dick Morris & Eileen McGann

Posted on 10/03/2008 5:46:44 AM PDT by Zakeet

LAST night was a big, big win for Sarah Palin.

She showed originality, charisma and sass - a style that is refreshing and different in our politics. She didn't just win the vice-presidential debate, she showed that she belongs with Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton as among the best communicators of our modern political times.

Her sallies against big government were brilliantly conceived and well executed. Her line that she didn't understand how Washington worked because politicians vote for something right after they vote against it, for example, was just wonderful.

Another classic came when she bit back at moderator Gwen Ifill and opponent Joe Biden and said she'd answer the questions as she wanted to, not necessarily as they wanted her to do.

Gone, long gone, are the worries about how good or well-prepared Sarah Palin is.

Most important, she showed how John McCain would bring change to Washington. Would that McCain could articulate his own sense of change as well as his running mate did!

For his part, Biden sounded like the warmed-over has-been that he is - he seemed to be on downers. Where she was thrilling and exciting, he was hypnotically boring. He seemed like more of the same, while she seemed like a breath of fresh air.

Without trepidation, she tossed aside the Bush years and spoke of the "blunders" in Iraq. She was able to skewer Wall Street and show Republican opposition to the greed there.

She even handled Biden very well on his turf, foreign policy - meeting him head-to-head on every issue, and winning.

She can now go into these media interviews with renewed confidence, knowing that she can smack them down at will. She must only make sure the interviews are live, and not taped to avoid the censorship and cutting and pasting.

She’ a natural leader.

McCain MUST keep Sarah Palin in the spotlight if he wants to win.
Nobody much cared for him until he chose her. When she made her speech at the convention, America went wild over her.

In the ensuing weeks however, she’s been out of the spotlight and the McCain camp has been naturally been pushing John. And during this period, we’ve been seeing NO Sarah Palin, only Tina Fey’s ditzy parody of Sarah Palin. -And McCain’s numbers go down.

Here we are again- Sarah shows herself on a WIDELY watched forum and she’s WILDLY popular. America is JAZZED about Sarah Palin when we get to SEE Sarah Palin.

in our family we call Dick Morris “the rat” because it seems like if he were to see a mouse or rodent trap with some cheese, he go like “oh cheese” and start nibbling on it. Also, we think there’s some sort of tail he has that can’t be seen on camera.

Exactly - of the Couric interview segments I saw, they made sure to end each one on a gotcha moment, probably out of hours of footage. Jerks.

I felt Sarah was constrained by her advisors and the campaign to be too much of a "cheerleader" in the debate and not allowed to just be herself and take the dems to task on the economic crisis, and even more so than she did on Iraq, Afghanistan, etc..

Having said that, she certainly held her own with Biden in any case and, much more importantly, she connected with the American people much better than Biden.

That is the key iissue.

Biden bloviated all over the place and came off precisely as a 35 year entrenched politician, and will be shown to have made glaring misrepresentations on McCain's record and his own, and millions and millions of people will hear of it from Fox (through folks like Rove and MOrris), through talk radio, and through the internet.

But all of that pales in comparison to Sarah's ability, even when cheerleading for McCain, to connect with the American people in her style, in her wording, and in her demeanor.

Common Americans are naturally drawn to her. She speaks to them...speaks for them. All of the MSM attempts to the contrary, that is what she does and the McCain campaign needs to have her constalntly out in front of the people doing just that.

I'M VOTING FOR SARAH...AND SO ARE A WHOLE LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE

Toe sucker isn’t the only one saying this. Everyone else has pretty much said/written/sign languaged/sky written that McLame is toast. Palin’s performance isn’t going to save John. Only John can save John and unfortunately John doesn’t have the ability to do that. John is once again a POW of his own idiocy of being able to effectively campaign and articulate his RINO ideas. He will not be able to rescue himself.

Here is what I wish she would say whenever somebody tries to tie McCain to the Bush administration....Well, Obama has voted with his party 96% of the time under the direction of his leadership, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.
Most people don't like those two, so why not tie Obama to them?

I AGREE, Palin won this thing DECICIVELY, but the Obama-Worshipping Media has it’s own spin.

CBS this morning showed about 8 seconds in soundbites, and declared Biden the winner by a marging of 2-1.

No mention of Biden’s 14 lies. NOT ONE....

I just cannot believe how baised the media has become. It’s insane.

Great advice---does ANYONE have a way to get this simple but possibly overlooked advice to Sarah's -what would you call them- handlers/assistants/bookers, whatever?

LIVE is the ONLY way for Sarah to fight against their creepy editing.

Sarah Palin walking on stage before the VP debate with Biden last night:

Read My Lipstick

Biden wore cosmetic tape. Notice those two beige streaks on the side of his temples. The "temporary" eye lift made his eyes and eyebrows look grotesque at times. This is one of the "good" pictures. :):

lol ok! I don’t have time to pull your head outta the sand, know what I mean Vern?

A VP will not carry a ticket. Never has. Never will. Unless history is about to be written. Either the Pube party will purge itself of the RINO’s and bring back thoughtful and articulate Reagan/Newt conservatives or the party will go back to being the minority for 50 years.

This site use to be full of thoughtful conservatives but now it just been over run by misguided Rino’s and rednecks who can’t put a thought together unless it’s a personal attack.

What happened JimRob?

Reagan is the wrong comparison for Palin. She is more like Harry Truman.

The press and Washington insiders of his day had nothing but disdain for Truman (for essentially the reasons they disdain Palin today.)

Truman though, connected with the American people in the exact same way Palin does.

Something positive. She is the only one I like in the race (of the 4.) Hopefully she will learn how to handle the libs got-ya questions during interviews. A very simple strategy is to turn all the questions around as attacks on Obama Biden, like Obama Democrats do blaming Bush-Republicans -McCain. It’s what Palin was missing the past few weeks.

John McCain will not be elected president with his own power, but most likely with the help of Clinton operatives who are dead set against Obama (I always thought of Morris as a Clinton mole).

But just as important, Sarah Palin will rally the base of the GOP to vote for McCain.
