Joe Biden's 14 lies tonight
The McCain campaign via Ace of Spades ^ | 10/3/2008

Posted on 10/02/2008 9:22:19 PM PDT by GVnana

1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.

2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.

3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”

4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.

5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.

6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.

7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people's health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false

8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's not a windfall profits tax.

9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.

10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.

11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.

12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.

13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”

14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won't pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

BIDEN MADE 3 HUGE MISTAKES!!!!!!!

1. Biden the Foreign policy guru said Darfor was in CHAD!!!

2. Biden said that 100 million families would be affected by Mccain's Medical plan. There are not 100 million families in the USA.

3. Biden said that he would be "right by Obama's side" with every decision. Does Obama need a nanny?

Wonderful debate.

I felt Sarah was constrained by her advisors and the campaign to be too much a cheerleader tonight and not allowed to just be herself and take the dems to task. Having said that, she certainly held her own with Biden and, much more importantly, she connected with the American people much much better than Biden.

That will be the key from tonight.

Biden bloviated all over the place and will be shown to have made glaring misrepresentations on McCain's record and his own, which this thread is ample example of...and the people need to hear of it.

How irresponsible, how arrogant to throw this type of stuff out there ina national debate. .

But all of that pales in comparison to Sarah's ability, even when cheerleading for McCain, to connect with the American people in her style, in her wording, and in her demeanor.

Common Americans are naturally drawn to her. She speaks to them...speaks for them. All of the MSM attempts to the contrary, that is what she does and she McCain campaign needs to have her constalntly out in front of the people doing just that.

I'M VOTING FOR SARAH...AND SO ARE A WHOLE LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE

Speaking of which...has anyone seen actual documentation of Obama calling attention to Freddie and Fannie issues 2 years ago. I have seen it for McCain but not Obama.

Test Ban Treaty
10:04 p.m.
Sen. Joseph Biden asserted that Sen. John McCain opposed the comprehensive nuclear test ban and that virtually every other Republican supported it. That is false. President Clinton never submitted the test ban for formal ratification because it faced overwhelming Republican opposition in a GOP-controlled Senate.

I’m not sure this is a mistake, but Biden said, “Ahmadinejad does not control the security apparatus in Iran. The theocracy controls the security apparatus...”

Is that true, that Ahmadinejad would have no control over the nuclear weapons they are in the process of developing? I haven’t heard that before.

Yeah, Gwen is a liberal, but she proved tonight that the rest of the sycophantic liberal media don’t have to be biased. Gwen Ifill did a very professional job. In fact, she reminded me of Rep. Barbara Jordan in her day!

Yes, and can you imagine the MSM eruptions if Governor Palin had done that? Bloviating Joe made all sorts of factual errors and some clear outright LIES but that will all be papered over by the lying MSM. A Republican candidate, especially the much-slandered Governor Palin, could never get away with any of Biden’s crud without severe political consequences.

"Before we get too far afield on the constitutional issue, we probably need to research further."

Article 1, Section 3. The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

Note: the constitution clearly places the duties of the VP in the Legislature. The only constitutional restriction on the duties of the VP is that the VP will not have a vote unless there is a tie.

It was so obvious that he was lying, even when he mentioned issues I wasn't sure of, I could tell he was lying.

He had that same demeanor when he made the outrageous claim that McCain was wrong on the war (lie) that he showed when talking about several other questionable points.

He sounded as sure when saying that he never criticized Obama for saying that he would meet without pre-conditions as he showed when mentioning the other statistics, so it cast a pale of suspicion over everything he said.

People can pick up on the non-verbals when a slick, political hack is tying to cover his butt. A typical Democrat. Liars all.

It’s likely to be true, but Iran’s nuke control procedures are not yet finalized or implemented I imagine.

Though I do not find this to be a source of comfort.

IIRC, in the USSR the GRU controlled the delivery devices but the KGB controlled the warheads. I’d be unsurprised to see a similar arrangement in Iran.

Stolen encyclopedia entry:

Iran is a theocratic Islamic republic governed under the constitution of 1979, as revised in 1989, when presidential powers were expanded and the post of prime minister eliminated. Appointed, rather than elected, offices and bodies hold the real power in the government. The supreme leader, who effectively serves as the chief of state, is appointed for life by an Islamic religious advisory board (the Assembly of Experts). The supreme leader oversees the military and judiciary and appoints members of the Guardian Council and the Expediency Discernment Council. The former, some of whose members are appointed by the judiciary and approved by parliament, works in close conjunction with the government and must approve both candidates for political office and legislation passed by parliament. The latter is a body responsible for resolving disputes between parliament and the Guardian Council over legislation. The president, who is popularly elected for a four-year term, serves as the head of government. The legislative branch consists of the 290-seat Islamic consultative assembly, or parliament, whose members are elected by popular vote for four-year terms.

“comment that Dick Cheney is the most dangerous vice president the U.S. has ever had?”

What an insult to a great man.

Cheney is nearly on par with the founding fathers.

He (and Bush) saved us from more attacks.

What about FDR’s VP Wallace? He was a true Communist and if not replaced by Truman, would have been President. Talk about dangerous.
