Remember Alan Keyes?
My seething mind | 01 Oct 2008 | Moi

Posted on 10/01/2008 7:18:36 PM PDT by A_perfect_lady

I was just on a website reviewing the various proposals that Californians will be voting for next month, and I clicked on their "President" link. Lo and behold, I see that after Obama and McCain, the next name that will actually appear on the ticket is Alan Keyes, running as an American Independent.

I think he's a little extreme, but I'm considering casting a protest vote for him, if only to send the message "I am not happy with our current GOP choice." Now, before you tell me I'm throwing my vote away, consider: I live in California, land of fruit loops. Our electoral votes are going to Che Obama no matter what I do. Those of you who also live in hopeless states might also consider helping Keyes at least make a showing.

Yes, of course I'd rather McCain than Obama.

But McCain just voted for this bailout. And I needn't list the many times he's "mavericked" his way across the aisle, to our detriment.

I think I'll vote for Alan Keyes.

You’re not very knowledgable of past or present Illinois politics are you?

Maybe because Keyes is a quack? How anyone takes him seriously is beyond me.

Alan Keyes is a nice guy. I like him. But he is a total incompetent as a politician.

Remember, he’s the guy whose lousy run for the Senate on the Republican ticket in Illinois gave Obama his chance to win.

Obama beat Keyes in 2004, by a margin of 70% to 27%.

US Senate Illinois 2004:

Obama (D): 3,597,456 70%

Keyes (R): 1,390,690 27%

Yes, I remember him very well...

I will!!

I was just thinking about this today. Voted for Keyes long time ago when W was first running. I wonder what kind of America we could have had if he had been President instead of phony Bush II.

I voted for him in the primary a couple of cycles back. The problem is, there just aren’t enough conservative voters to save the republic. Supplemental viewing at the link on this post... http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2094322/posts

Sure he did... Consider who counts the vote in that state.

No that was a guy named Jack Ryan... and the judge that openned his sealed divorce papers right before the election.

He's the guy that let Obama become a Senator.

That's a baseless comment. He answered the call against insurmountable odds. In fact, I voted for him ( Keyes that is. ) I think he'd make a great Senator ( ahem. )

It sure beats voting to give liberals control of both major parties. And McCain will still put in more liberal judges.

I am still voting Keyes, as I have intended since the Rebloodicans chose one of the liberal troika.

Yup. He's the guy that let Obama become a Senator.

WRONG...Keyes had a lot of guts to move to IL. and challenge the false messiah. It was a longshot move but he did it anyway. Alan Keyes is an unsung hero in my book with more guts, passion and constitutional brilliance than Barry... BO is a schoolboy next to Keyes...the best don't always win!

I like Keyes alot. I voted for him in a primary...not sure which year it was. And I’m not overjoyed with McCain either. But my goodness! If we don’t ban together and do all we can to get McCain elected, Obama will win, and America as we know it will cease to exist. I don’t agree with McCain on many things. But at least we know he’s loyal to America and doesn’t represent Evil.

I'm considering casting a protest vote for him, if only to send the message "I am not happy with our current GOP choice."

We have McCain as a result of (1) the dearth of conservative Republican presidential candidates capable of uniting our base with the RINOs, and (2) the power of the MSM to sway uninformed voters. Those problems will not be solved with protest votes.

A vote for Keyes, whom I like, is a vote to split the Republican Party. The flawed GOP is still our best hope for promoting conservative government.

Just tell yourself you are voting for Palin.

He's the guy that let Obama become a Senator.

He's the only guy who truly tried to stop Obama, and he did it with little if any help or support from the Illinois or national Republican parties.

The only reason Keyes came to Illinois was because of his horror that Obama, who has a history of voting to let infants born alive die, would get the office uncontested.

Alan Keyes showed courage and gumption. He should be praised and honored for what he put himself and his family through in order to let the world know who Obama was.

You should be ashamed of yourself.
