PHOENIX - A man is dead after trying to break into a woman's home and she opened fire on him.
According to police the woman had a restraining order against the man although their exact relationship is unclear.
“The victim basically armed herself and when the suspect broke into the house the victim fired several rounds.”
Police said the woman will most likely not face any charges.

At least some people recognize how (in)effective restraining orders are.
That’s one of the reasons for the Second Amendment. In Chicago, this woman probably would be arrested at least for illegal weapons possession.
It shows you that restraining orders do work!

A restraining order does nothing to protect a woman, and according to Gaven de Becker it can make matter worse.
A gun however, protects a woman every time.
The fact that she shot him is pretty good indication that the "relationship" wasn't going anywhere healthy.
RO are just as effective as a non-smoking section in a busy restaurant...
I live in ny state where the enforce no smoking in all restaurants and will arrest YOU if you shoot an intruder....and ROs are worthless here.

This woman knows exactly how things really work if someone is a threat to you. First you have to get a restraining order to protect yourself legally. Then you have to be armed in order to protect yourself physically.

This is exactly why I have never understood why any woman would be so against guns! Any woman who has ever been stalked or had and an obsessive, abusive mate should praise God we have the Second Amendment!

I believe that is known as a 9mm restraining order. He was effectively restrained.
Or it could have been a .38 special, or maybe a .45.
Why do they always leave out the details?
I knew a woman in Minneapolis about 20 years ago that did the same thing to a former scumbag boyfriend. Shot him stone-cold dead after he broke in trying to kill her and the coppers turned around and arrested her and held her without charge for a couple days until they finally let her go - protective custody. Uh huh.

I hope she “most likely” will not face any charges against a man that a court said couldn’t come near her, but chose to bust into her house anyway. Probably didn’t want to dance with her.

I am probably safer trying out here in the boonies than in NYCity...........don’t own a gun tough. I am rethinking that, but I still don’t own one.
there was a case a few years back in NYC.......the man was in the process of getting his license here when the bad guys broke in and he shot........he got himself in jail....the case went on for years......not sure how it ended up.

No, this shows that they don't. What it does show working, is the right to bear arms and defend yourself.
A piece of paper does not protect you. Police cannot protect you, because they do not and can not enforce those pieces of paper.
Had this person been unarmed, we might have been reading how the police directed the contractors who clean up the mess from bloody murder scenes, and how they vow to find who ever did it.
And if the victims family is REALLY lucky, the police will spend the resources to look up if the victim had filed any restraining orders on anyone.
Issuing handguns and training with every restraining order would make for a safer society.
That makes some rather serious claims about the nature of God, doesn’t it?
That is SO sacreligious. I am completely offended. For you to even imply that God (Almighty, I might add!) would fail to hole his shot from the fairway is absulutely beyond the pale...
Anyone with a restraining order that does not have the means to defend themselves should familiarize themselves with the tragic case behind Castle Rock v. Gonzales *pops*.
It is not the job of the police to provide individual protection to citizens or to enforce restraining orders. This is no slam on law enforcement officers. They simply cannot be everywhere at once.
A restraining order loaded with lead is much more effective than one filled with loaded words.
