Rep. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) said Sunday that House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) should step down from his chairmanship while an ethics investigation takes place.
Questioned by host Tom Brokaw on NBCs Meet the Press, Udall initially cited the ethics process and demurred.
When pressed, though, he said that it would be helpful if Rangel stepped down.
I think it would be helpful if Charles Rangel stepped down, Udall said.

Udall used these words, but he did not in any way call on Rangel to step down. He was full of praise for Rangel and said that it's up to Rangel whether he stepped down or not. Then he noted that it would be helpful in Rangel stepped down.
Pretty mild statement.

Oh BS. When push came to shove he voted to keep Rangel in his seat (and he's received $10K in campaign contributions from Rangel):.
"In the September 19 Rocky Mountain News comes word Mr. Udall accepted campaign donations from New York representative Charles Rangel, the Democratic chair of the House Ways and Means committee. If you you're not aware of the trouble this disgrace of a congressman is in lately, look it up, but to put it plainly, he's the taxman caught " allegedly" (in some cases admittedly) cheating on taxes. From the RMN: [Rocky Mountain News]
" Udall, an Eldorado Springs Democrat, received $10,000 of campaign contributions from Rangel's leadership political action committee this year and $2,000 in 2000. He, like most other members of his party, voted against ordering Rangel to give up his seat." http://www.examiner.com/r-2349368~More_Dirty_Udall_Money.html
It's easy to say Rangel should resign, but Udall did nothing about it when he had the chance. Now he thinks he'll sound like a moderate to Colorado voters when he's actually just another liberal dem party hack.

He’s got a (D) behind his name, he’s not accountable for anything he does wrong.
Charlie Rangel is a boil on the behind of the US government

I thought Rangel should step down too, but he does seem an appropriate leader for the crooks who are stealing $700 billion. Nothing will come of it as nothing ever does to those who know how to work the system in DC.

Udall didn’t say he SHOULD step down. He just said it would be HELPFUL if he stepped down. That’s not the same thing. The media is helping Udall.
