I've read that John McCain told George Stephannapolis he would vote for the bailout bill. That pretty much does it with me and Republicans. Some Maverick!
Settle down. Wait for the vote. Make some calls.
Which bailout bill—the compromise?
If so, the House GOP is voting for it too.
I just heard him say on Foxnews that he wants to see the details before he makes a judgment.
so your option is to vote for obama who is also voting for it? or not vote and let obama win?
sorry but you have no other options.
Well, he has to vote for it so Obama can vote for it without political consequence.
Come back over Chicken Little. Until we see what Team Schmidt will have him do.
Obama does not know what he would do -- well he does. He will vote for whatever appeals to most people so he can get elected.
Despite warnings from GOP members of Congress in 1992, Clinton pushed extensive changes to the rules requiring lenders to make questionable loans.
Obama is still fundraising.
He will vote “yes” for Goldman Sachs/Paulson/Bush
wow..The reactions on freeper are unbelivably immature.!
“That does it! I’m not voting!”
“he’s a RINO ;and that does it! I’m not voting for McCain!”
“That’s it! Bush just did it ...whatever it was-—I am through with the Republicans and will never vote for them again!!”
GROW UP! oR JUST quietly go into the voting booth and vote for Obama, or just stand outside the voting booth with a sign,”I’m not voting and so come on in all you Obama voters.’ and after you have done that...STFU!
I heard McCain was for it too. But to make FReepers happy, I will pretend he is not.
If nothing else I will FEEL better. I wonder if Sarah is for it, or is she allowed to say?
If the House Republicans vote against and McCain votes for I expect you to support the House Republicans and not take it out on them.
Is Mccain still around? I had’nt heard about him for a few days thought maybe he had surrendered the field to the democrats.
BRAVO! BRAVO! If nothing is done, we are in for a heap of trouble....and you know what? These same people will come back and bitch and moan. I find it incredible that some here think that our elected officials should and could do nothing. They can’t and they won’t.

The guy on TV did say Obama was being "pragmatic" about it. I think you are right!
LOL - we do have some drama queens here on FR, don’t we?
I thought he was still campaigning then?
Barry will do whatever his handlers tell him to do.
“But if he does vote for a bailout that a majority of House GOP vote against, he will likely lose the election.
Have you all just thought that maybe its the House GOP that has it wrong?
“I’ve read that John McCain told George Stephannapolis he would vote for the bailout bill. That pretty much does it with me and Republicans. Some Maverick!”
Just remember that not voting for McCain IS a vote for Obama.
“I wonder if Sarah is for it, or is she allowed to say?”
She’s for drilling at ANWR and has been saying at McCain rallies.
She’s a mind of her own and a great leader of her own.
THAT’S IT!!!!
Allegra on freepr called some Freepers drama queens...
THAT does it! I am not voting for BUSH!
Ladies and Gentlemen, our new campaign slogan!
I still cannot stand McCain. SNL nailed him last night, Bambi too. However, since Palin is on the ticket I will vote R. If nothing changes. Reconciling myself with becoming completely apolitical for the next 4 years.
According to AP on Yahoo this does nothing for people in foreclosure. Here’s the paragraph cut and pasted:
Homeowners faced with foreclosure or those who have lost their homes get little help from the agreement. Nor will it help people whose houses are worth less than what they owe get refinancing or take out equity loans.
He has not said yes or No.
Does anyone believe dirty trickster Georgie, the slime merchant from the 1992 Clinton camp !
My kids have more sense. You won’t see them throwing out the whole toy box just because one toy is broken.
Fedupusa.org mentions this is not a matter of money but of TRUST. McCain campaign should consider running as the candidate you can TRUST perhaps. “Change” is sort of over at this point for both of them. It struck me that the whole “trust” issue has been pretty much ignored by the campaigns this time around. He also needs to “marry” Obama to Peolosi/Frank/Dodd the way they are trying to make him a clone of Bush.
Hey A$$hole. I happen to be a combat vet, and thought that America still had freedom of speech. Guess not since you RINO’s came to town. And how about you STFU?
I’m not sure Barry will show up to vote. Bill Burton kept sidestepping the question on Fox this morning. When pressed he finally said that IF Obama is needed then he will be there to vote. I bet that little weasel doesn’t show up to vote so that he can ONCE AGAIN not take responsibility for it when this house of cards falls.
To summarize:
Don’t vote for a democrat! You’re stupid! Vote for the other democrat!
Here’s an idea for the drama queens, teach the GOP a lesson and stay home. Worked last time.. /s
Seriously, I wish my mind could grasp the basics of the bill, but it cannot. I have to trust my own judgement after reading the comments on FR. (After 8 years, I have a list of those whose opinions I value.)
Of this I am certain, as a whole, our nation has the government it has asked for. (Present company excluded, of course) Very sad.
Just a few. Yikes.
I failed to notice the date he used wrong.
Sorry about that.
McCain could be a weaselly Senator and not be present for the cloture vote and then rush in to vote against it. However, any House Republicans that voted for the bill would probably tear McCain limb-from-limb. Good thing that he has USSS protection!
Thats always been the game plan ! Present again !
Most of the problem is frustration over how it is going down.
Yes, something had to be done according to Mccain, who said today that nothing could not be done.
But the GOP and Mac failed to grab this issue by the throat and pin it on the real culprits, who now monopolize the microphones and blame bush, call mccain bush III, they escape from the real blame, they will shift credit to Nobama, and politically, we have not done nearly as well with this issue as we had hoped. There was a huge lost opportunity here.
now, things are still fluid and that could change, but the way it is going down is not helping Mcpalin at all.
I would tend to agree with it, but the goal is not to help those who are in foreclosure, but rather to prevent the banking system from collapsing, and causing a Depression. The better argument is simply that it’s not needed to accomplish that result.
No worries. My bad. I just felt like being overtly critical when I see McCain's poll numbers were bad... LOL Sorry about that.
LOL!
You were correct to point the year being wrong. I appreciate that.
Don't worry about what the pollsters say, John McCain will win!
Thanks Paudio
Tough titty....
Thank you all for saying what I was about to.
Sometimes when I read some posts I think I got hijacked to another place.
McCain has put a lot of time into this, unlike Obama.
He is going to be damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.
I am not sure about a lot of things these days.
One thing I am sure about is that I will do everything in my power to defeat Obama.
To do anything else is well...just plain idiocy.
