Barack Obama played the "me too" game during the Friday debates on September 26 after Senator John McCain mentioned that he was wearing a bracelet with the name of Cpl. Matthew Stanley, a resident of New Hampshire and a soldier that lost his life in Iraq in 2006. Obama said that he too had a bracelet. After fumbling and straining to remember the name, he revealed that his had the name of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek of Merrill, Wisconsin.
Shockingly, however, Madison resident Brian Jopek, the father of Ryan Jopek, the young soldier who tragically lost his life to a roadside bomb in 2006, recently said on a Wisconsin Public Radio show that his family had asked Barack Obama to stop wearing the bracelet with his son's name on it. Yet Obama continues to do so despite the wishes of the family.
Radio host Glenn Moberg of the show "Route 51" asked Mr. Jopek, a man who believes in the efforts in Iraq and is not in favor of Obama's positions on the war, what he and his ex-wife think of Obama continually using their son's name on the campaign trail....

I wish I could say what I wanted to here but I’ll leave it at this.
BHO is without a doubt the most vile peice of human slime it has ever been my DISPLEASURE to endure. It’s bad enough his total hatred and utter disregard for anything American but, his total disrespect and contempt for our soldiers, their families and the American military in general makes me want to vomit sometimes. He has AB-SO-LUTLY NONE of the qualities it takes to be the President of our great country.
This should be his “picture in the tank” or Willie Horton moment. Doubt that it will.
From what I understand, the ex-wife is an Obama supporter & she doesn't want to do anything that might hurt his chances to win. She is upset that he is using it for a "campaign prop" though.
It's a lot more than hearsay, saw a transcript of a radio interview in March where the husband told of the families request. Now an interview of the wife saying they asked him not to wear it would great.
They're Obamabots. They're not going to say a darned thing because they want Obama elected.

No, it’s not “complicated.” That’s an 8 month-old article generated by the Obama PR machine.
I question the father’s account of his ex-wife’s position on the issue. What I find interesting is the use of the NYT story as the source and that the mother supposedly got the idea from seeing McCain with a bracelet on.
Here is what I think happened. When Obama was campaigning in WI, the mother, Tracy Jopek, approached Obama or one of his campaign staff to relate her feelings about the loss of her son. The Obama campaign, well aware of the fact that McCain uses his bracelet as a standard part of his campaign stump speech, decided that they could counter McCain’s emotional appeal as to why victory in Iraq was needed, i.e., so the sacrifice of these brave men and women are not in vain. Obama could now have his own bracelet, with a different emotional message, i.e., we need to get out of Iraq so no more brave Americans die in vain. They then suggested to the mother that they would be willing to have Obama wear a bracelet similar to the one McCain wears. She agreed. I am curious as to who had the bracelet made [payed for it] and when.
The mother, supposedly, is not answering questions from the media. I believe she is trying to hide the details as to how the bracelet idea came about. Her son had died two years earlier in August 2006.

1. Obama got the bracelet.
2. Family asked him NOT to wear it, and especially not to use it politically.
3. Obama refuses and makes political points out of a grieving mother's sorrow, against her wishes.
