During Friday’s post-debate coverage on MSNBC, Chris Matthews portrayed Barack Obama as appearing "more presidential" while he complained that John McCain "was crunched over, almost grumpy in physical manner," as he contended that McCain "may not have been presidential." Matthews also complained that McCain did not look at Obama at all during the debate, a theme which Matthews touched on repeatedly that night. Matthews: "[McCain] may not have been presidential, however. Not once tonight, in an hour and a half, did he look at his opponent. He was crunched over, almost grumpy in his physical manner. I think a lot of people will take that body language as contemptuous of his opponent. They won’t like it. Barack Obama, on the other hand, who kept agreeing with McCain, over and over again, saying I agree with the point you made, I agree with the point you made, looked more presidential, although I believe on points, he gave away too much."
Matthews also characterized McCain as "troll-like" and "grumpy," and asked if Americans "really want to put up with four years of that," and described McCain as seeming "really contemptuous" of Obama. Guest John Heilemann contended that McCain "hates Obama." Matthews: "Do people really want to put up with four years of that? Of sitting there angrily, grumpily, like a codger? Like, like, I don’t want to push it too far, but didn’t he seem really contemptuous of his opponent? Do you want to put up with four years of that?"

again , he looked “crunched” over because of the war injuries, which Matthews unconscious at least forced him to acknowledge with the awkward “crunched over “ ( as in bones that were crunched in beatings) rather than the apropos “scrunched.”

They are completely beyond the reach of rational discussion of evidence and analysis.
As for “crunched over” I guess Chrissy likes making fun of victims of torture whose shoulders will never be right again, but I did not see any “crunched over” so once again the loathsome Chrissy Matthews is issuing grotesque exaggerations to suit his own political agenda.
I’m surprised he was able to stop enjoying hearing himself talk long enough to once again make himself sound as stupid as everone thinks he really is.
And, Obama’s condescending arrogance in referring to Sen. McCain as “John” didn’t play well, at all, here among the great unwashed...
McCain didn’t look at him? I wouldn’t, either, in the same role. As long as the inexperienced upstart continues to pretend to the throne, I’d ignore him, too.

I have a suspicion that Obama may be known for “hard looks” at debating opponents or possibly “facial antics” designed to confuse the opponent. If so, McCain’s decision to ignore Obama visually may have been a wise strategy. McCain was consistent in referring to Obama as “Senator Obama” which showed a proper respect. Obama’s familiarity did not.
In a related story from 1996, Chris Matthews comments that Senator Dole “looked like Captain Hook” with a “withered hand.”

Chrissy, McCain knew if he just so much as glimpsed at nobama he would have a ‘tingle’, but it might have run down his leg instead of up.

No doubt Matthews made his criticisms sitting with perfect posture in his cushy anchor’s chair. He couldn’t have stood for 30 minutes, much less an hour and a half, if his squishy body had suffered what your post depicted. He couldn’t have endured the pain from the broken bones, much less what those monsters did to McCain after the trauma his body had already suffered.
If Matthews had half a brain and a conscience, he’d die of shame.
Chrissy, if you had your shoulders broken and repeatedly kept from healing, you wouldn’t look like the dem whore you are either. You would look like Marjorie Main with a hernia.
I was reading an account written by a POW who had undergone that torture depicted for quite some time. I’ll never forget when he said that something black was dangling in front of his face and he couldn’t figure out what it was for a long time. Finally, he moved his fingers and realized it was his hand. Matthews is an Obama-loving punk.

Confession: Years ago I watched Hardball. Matthews at the time slanted left, however, his show was not bad. IMHO he has lost his mind. He seems to be suffering from dementia. Why would anyone who cares for him allow him to continually embarass himself on national TV? It is sad. I think if Obama loses he will suffer a mental breakdown. I hope his family won’t let it happen for the world to see.
