I just got back from Canvasing in Chester VA. It was a good day. It looked like McCain picked up support. I only encountered one Obama supporter. The rest were either in the McCain camp or leaning that way. This county is heavily GOP but I did notice that Jim Gilmore seems to have solidified support among Republicans now. The last time I did this a few weeks back I kept hearing McCain Warner. Today that wasn't the case. If you live within driving distance of this event this is a great event to get McCain/Palin Signs and bumper stickers. Also the food is great, there is music, and plenty of things for kids to do.

It’s raining cats & dogs out here in the western hills of VA, so I hope it has moved through the area this event is in. Got my MaC/Palin sticker on my truck and big Virginia is McCain Country banner on my pasture gate. Obama has more offices open here in Augusta County than Mac does, but I still see more Mac signs than Obama ones.

This is a great event! This will be my 3rd time attending! Eric Cantor is a super nice guy and Bill Bolling, Bob McDonnell delegate Bill Janis usually go too! Lots of beer and good food.

It was kind of Warner to deliver that horrible speech at the convention. Man sounded like he’d had some strokes maybe.

I remember as a kid lots of us played with explosives. I loved helping my best friend’s dad ‘remove’ stumps. Things we did then would get you 15 years at club fed today.

I would’ve been expelled in todays environment and I was a fairly good student. I sold fireworks for 50 cents a piece and brought knives to school which I sold. I grew up in Northern WV and it was no big deal. The Fireworks would’ve got me in trouble but a lot of guys carried pen knives and such.

Nope, he’s just a Demo-Dope. :) He’s ahead here for John Warner’s senate seat, but he’s really looking for a job in Obambi’s administration. Needs the foreign policy experience so that he can run for president.

Yep, and my DH used to keep his deer rifle in his truck (in the gun rack!) for hunting after school, circa 1980. How the world has changed.

Today was the first time I saw some good movement towards Jim Gilmore. Warner just outright lied in the Fairfax debate claiming the CATO institute gave Gilmore a failing grade which was false they gave him a C because he spent surplus dollars to increase the number of teachers. They gave him high marks on cutting taxes. Mark Warner got a failing grade of D from Cato and spending under his administration rose at a almost double the rate under Gilmore increasing by 24.7%. Warner has won by telling the same lie over and over again.

Agreed. My 16 yo son is a pretty dedicated shotgunner. Regularly competes, hunts, etc. We have to have him make damn sure there isn’t a single shell left in his vehicle every Sunday, because he could be expelled for having ammo in his truck. Just ammo! A single 12 ga shell could get him expelled, arrested and possibly lose his driver’s license! It’s rediculous.

You know someday these restrictions will come back to haunt these schools. You know it is easy to make a phone call and say you think someone especially a liberal just might have a weapon in their car on campus. lol

You're right. The only problem is that we have entirely too many teachers that are lock-step with the “group think” that they would be the ones who would make the calls to get kids like mine in trouble. The school district here use to allow the kids an excused absence for the opening day of hunting season (rifle/deer). It was stopped when Mark Warner was our governor. Now, the kids still don't show up, but they have to bring a note from mom saying they were sick. Thankfully the principal of our high school is a big bird hunter, and he knows the kids go hunting, but he doesn't give them a hard time about it.

Why did they blow up their play area? Because, they're Virginians.
Hope this is a good event Maelstorm. We have a wedding this afteroon, with an outdoor reception.
I suspect we'll all be drying out this evening.

I went to “Roundup” yesterday. I would’ve loved to have met you but fortunately there were so many people there it was impossible. Lots of 6’4” guys with sons. That was the single best of all 4! Incredible turnout! It really got me jazzed!
