McCain was sabotaged electronically in the debate tonight. In each and every view actross many broadcast venues, Mc Cain's responses came across electronically as harsh in the audio range with siblants whistling into unpleasant ranges while such was with few exceptions not the case for Obama.
Maybe he just had his microphone slightly mispositioned? I didn’t watch, so I can’t confirm.
I was listening on the NET on foxnews???
Yes. You need a new TV....
I watched it on FOX and did not notice a difference.
Sounded fine over here. Perhaps it was your cable company or your set?
I did not notice that. It was just so hard for me to even look at the TV and see Obama’s face.
There was no problem with McCain’s audio on FOX (at least in HDTV). At one point Obama’s audio dropped out for a couple of seconds.
Black helicopters sighted in Mississippi today. They must have been carrying the gear to intercept and modify the networks satellite signals.
I didn’t notice it at all.
There were audio problems and they tried to make an adjustment toward the beginning while Obama was speaking and his mike went out for a few seconds, so I think they decided to leave it alone.
Honestly, I thought Obama’s mike was unpleasantly loud
Yep, I listened on the car radio in town and had to turn the treble way down so the hissy s’s didn’t hurt my ears...wonder if mikes were messed with on purpose.
McCain still rocked Obama throughout the debate and won this debate.
Maybe you should speak with someone on the campaign.
Listened on CSPAN. No problems.
An old-fashioned ass-kicking sounds the same in any frequency.
My 23 year old son has perfect pitch and notices things like this.
I think you are overly sensitive like my son.
I had to turn the treble down for McCain’s voice. Obama’s voice didn’t have the painful sss sound...hmmmm Kind of like that soft lighting for Katie Couric and the harsh glare for Governor Palin.
Marxists rely on being louder than others. If Marxists gain control of a group of people, the loud noise is expected.
When they start killing any thing resembling opposition, no one notices the guns and tanks.
The masses have been conditioned.
So did I........especially when he got agitated and started elevating his voice... *chuckle*
i still remember what they did to Dick Nixon...
We listened to Fox on our tv and my husband kept noticing that Obama’s mike had a lot more reverberation and resonance than McCain’s did.
But I will add, VOA was a joke when I first started listening regularly from overseas in 1990. The BBC’s news about the USA was and is much more comprehensive and useful than our own tax-funded VOA (bunch of amateurs!). And if an American citizen writes to the VOA about the lousy programming, they have a policy not to answer, and they state so on the air.
I only listened on VOA because it was NOT VOA that was conducting the debate, and BBC’ frequency (usually much clearer) this time was being over-run by NHK, Japan.
But no, I couldn't tell any “black-helicopter”-sourced sound modulation.
You need a new TV. Sounded fine on my new HDTV
I didn’t notice anything on ABC.
Oh please.. McCain sounded fine to me tonight. It must be you.
No doubt there are specific ranges, overtones, and characteristics which could be induced or fed into/filtered out of the feed, whether that was the case in this instance or not.
This is, admittedly out of my area of expertise, and maybe some other FReeper could elaborate.
It didn’t come off like that at all.
As the debate started my wife and I flipped channels trying to find one with decent sound. The color and sound were different on CNN, MSNBC, Fox, ABC and NBC (the only ones we checked). Maybe it was my TV but they each seemed to have their own character. I think we ended up settling on network NBC.
Paranoia strikes deep, into your life it will creep. It starts when you’re always afraid, step out of line, the man comes and takes you away.
Nope, the audio on Fox News was fine.
Nice and clear on Fox and same mike and associated electronics.
I didn’t notice anything wrong with McCain’s projection, but I did notice that Obama’s dropped off altogether at least once.
The main thing I noticed was that McCain’s delivery was punchier and hit the mark, while Obama, as usual, pontificated, using a multitude words to say very little... and what he did say was strongly Socilistic.
What’s the frequency Kenneth?
Well, I noticed that when McCain was talking, they split the screen to show Obama’s expressions while when Obama was talking, Obama got the full screen to himself.
We watched on C-Span so that Mrs. aShepard would not revel in 0Bama hoorays.
We kinda thought that the discussion was balanced and even, points going into space. Poof!
That being said, McCain spoke from his heart: Obama spoke from his handlers, and street pimps!
No, I thought McCain’s voice sounded natural and less echoey than Obama’s - Obama tended to shout his responses and echoed way more.
I just hope they don’t arrest Senator McCain for child abuse. He beat Bammie like a redheaded stepchild.
Nope. It didn’t ‘click’ with me but I thought it sounded a bit like his dentures were slipping.
I’ve noticed in the post-debate interviews that no one is talking about how annoyed Obama was when McCain was speaking and how McCain kept his cool. Obama was making some seriously funny faces and one was particularly petulant teenager.
How old is your set? Is it digital capable?
or maybe a few of these
It’s a wood-burning television. Maybe I needed to stoke the fire . . .
Seriously, I don’t know how old it is. Probably 10 years old. It’s a Sony. I was watching on Mediacom cable.
I was humoring relee. It’s the 5 words every guy wants to hear: you need a new TV.
Meh... either it’s your set or the cable feed was off (which isn’t surprising, it’s hard to keep engineers watching that gear on Friday nights).
Oh, yeah - and you need a new TV, seriously.
“And if an American citizen writes to the VOA about the lousy programming, they have a policy not to answer, and they state so on the air.”
There is actually a very good reason for this, VOA is specifically NOT to broadcast to Americans or to communicate with Americans. This is because it is a Government funded operation and the intent is to keep it from becoming a propaganda tool for the Government towards our own citizens.
VOA is intended for foreigners and foreigners only. The purpose of the VOA is to promote the USA and our goals to the rest of the world. (or at least the few people that still bother tuning in to shortwave radio.)
OF course we Americans can listen in all we want, but the VOA will as a matter of necessity ignore us.
This is as it should be.
No. It’s fine. TV ain’t a big thing for me.
LoL! You’re right.
