UPDATE: McCain senior adviser Mark Salter emails:

"Yesterday, Harry Reid said that consensus couldn't be achieved without John McCain's leadership. John stepped up and is providing that leadership. Now Senator Reid seems to have changed his mind for reasons we'll let him explain. But what he should understand is that this isn't about Harry Reid or John McCain or Barack Obama. It's about the American people and, in the words of Warren Buffet, the financial Pearl Harbor they're facing. John's committed to doing his part to help avert that calamity. We hope Senator Reid is too."

The Democrats want to have the government take over the financial markets. Republicans are opposed. Where is the common ground?

There would be NO reason to work on a bill if the Democrats hadn’t caused this mess.

Demand REPARATIONS from Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer and the rest of the Democrats who decided to give cheap mortgages to people who couldn’t afford them.

We should not have to pay for THEIR decision to block reforms of Fannie Mae (which Bush has been asking for since 2001).

Send Sarah Palin to the debate Friday night.

They want to say she's not prepared to step up to President should the need arise.  I believe she would do just fine, especially in an open debate format.

Time for a 'Hail Mary' in this campaign, so let's watch as Sarah mops the floor with BHO!

Anyone in the McCain/Palin camp listening?  :-)

I think that the Democrat leadership thinks that things are going their way, and so if they just happen to make themselves publicly look like the treacherous crooks they are, no one’s going to care because everyone’s too busy worrying about their 401K going south. It’s almost like they’re stealing from the Putin/Achmadinejad/Chavez playbook. Difference is that they’re in power here.
