Wikipedia:
"The term Bradley effect... refers to a frequently observed discrepancy between voter opinion polls and election outcomes in American political campaigns when a white candidate and a non-white candidate run against each other. Named for Tom Bradley, an African-American who lost the 1982 California governor's race despite being ahead in voter polls, the Bradley effect refers to a tendency on the part of white voters to tell pollsters that they are undecided or likely to vote for a Black candidate, when, on election day, they vote for his/her white opponent.
"One theory for the Bradley effect is that some white voters give inaccurate polling responses for fear that, by stating their true preference, they will appear to the pollster to be racially prejudiced. The reluctance to give accurate polling answers has sometimes extended to post-election exit polls as well. The race of the pollster conducting the interview may be a factor into voters' answers. Some pollsters believe that they do not receive deliberately false answers from white voters. The Bradley effect, these pollsters believe, is caused by pollsters' failure to account for general political leanings among voters who are undecided between Democrats and Republicans."
Team Obama's excuse for losing, or not winning bigger, as the case may be, will be white racism, of course.
It won't be that Obama is too liberal, too inexperienced, too elitist, too arrogant or too political.
It won't be that McCain is a war hero and Obama is a war zero.
It won't be that McCain gave more than twenty years of his life to serving his country in the military and Obama never gave a minute of his life for military service, or service in the Peace Corps, or service in the domestic Peace Corps.
It won't be that McCain has big legislative accomplishments and Obama doesn't.
It won't be because McCain picked pro-lifer Sarah Palin as his vice presidential nominee and Obama rejected Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in favor of Senator Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., a renegade Catholic who rejects his Church's teachings.
Obama and his supporters in and out of the media are playing the race card shamelessly.
CNN's Jack Cafferty:
"The differences between Barack Obama and John McCain couldn't be more well-defined. Obama wants to change Washington. McCain is a part of Washington and a part of the Bush legacy. Yet the polls remain close. Doesn't make sense...unless it's race."
The Youngstown Vindicator:
"'Race that's the only reason people in the Valley won't vote for him,' said state Rep. Thomas Letson of Warren, D-64th, about Barack Obama, his party's presidential nominee. 'There are 1,000 reasons to vote for Obama and one reason why you won't race.'
"'Staunch Republicans' who make up 35 percent to 40 percent of the population would never vote for a Democrat regardless of race, Letson said.
"It is the independents, the 'swing voters' and Democrats who are or will support Republican John McCain who are the 'racists,' Letson and state Rep. Robert F. Hagan of Youngstown, D-60th, said."
Dick Meyer, NPR:
"Similarly, many people felt McCain's famous ad that called Obama a celebrity like Paris Hilton was subliminally racist, subtly playing on racist impulses that fear black men with white women, or that preyed on the idea that black men succeed only in celebrity arenas like sports and music."
Obama surrogate, Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius:
"I think the notion that, 'By the way, have any of you noticed that Barack Obama is part African-American?' That may be a factor. All of the code language, all that doesn't show up in polls, and that may be a factor for some people."
Meanwhile, polls are showing that black voters favor Obama over McCain by about 94% to 1%.
But, is there a reverse Bradley effect?
Are blacks saying they will vote for Obama because it seems to be the politically correct thing to say, but planning to vote the other way?
We will find out on or soon after Election Day.
Will Obama win more votes because he is black than McCain will lose because he is white?
In the names of affirmative action and political correctness, would that be considered alright?
Will Obama lose more votes because he is black than McCain will win because he is white?
Is racial identification voting ok for blacks, but not whites?
The truth is that those who say yes have ascended the hypocrisy heights.
I suppose that the left is getting ready for the riots that will be sure to come when "The One" loses in November, along with cries of voter disenfranchisment, fraud, racism and all that.
Liberal talking points: it’s racist to not vote for Obama but it’s not racist to say that blacks will pillage and plunder if Obama loses.
95% of blacks will vote for 0bama, and the media won’t say a thing about it.
If 95% of white people voted for McCain, they would scream racism, and rightfully so...
The only thing we can do is prepare for the nightmare, but hope for the best.
Better to be cautious than scared.
“One theory for the Bradley effect is that some white voters give inaccurate polling responses for fear that, by stating their true preference, they will appear to the pollster to be racially prejudiced.”
In the event that Obama were to lose, the headlines will not read that white voters lied to polsters to look more tolerant than they were. The headlines will read that whites lied because they wanted to hide their secret RACISM.
You are damn right it is about race. Why else would Obama not be getting blown out of the water. His race is the only thing he has going for him.
Ahmadinejad: America Near Collapse...
He's right.
“Europe wept.”
This is what I wonder. If blacks aren't racist if they're voting for the Obambi solely because he's black, why are whites racist if they're voting for McCain because he's white? What's the difference?
And, BTW, the "reverse Bradley effect" is an interesting concept: blacks saying they'll vote for the Obambi to appear politically correct and in sync with the whole thing, and then voting for McCain because they recognize what a zero the Obambi is.
True. We’ve never had a half-Arab president.
My white cleaning lady told me she was voting for Obama because it is about time for a black to be president. I ridiculed her for that notion. But that is the reverse of the Bradley effect, voting for someone because they are black.
“blacks saying they’ll vote for the Obambi to appear politically correct and in sync with the whole thing, and then voting for McCain because they recognize what a zero the Obambi is.”
Since blacks vote for any old Democrat by a 90% margin, there can’t be too many of them who’d jump ship just because Obama is grossly unqualified.
“
95% of blacks will vote for 0bama, and the media wont say a thing about it.
If 95% of white people voted for McCain, they would scream racism, and rightfully so...”
If 60% go McCain they’ll cry racism. Heck if 10% do they’ll probably cry about how 10% of the white electorate was racist.
“My white cleaning lady told me she was voting for Obama because it is about time for a black to be president”
How about Colin Powell? Thomas Sowell? Lebron James? Why does Barrack have to be the (half) black person whose time has come? I mean, it could be any black guy, right? Let’s start a write-in campaign for Walter Williams.
Republicans will vote for the republican ticket, no surprise there, same as usual.
That leaves democrats and independants.
If Obama loses....
Who are the racists?
The reverse of the Bradley effect would be that individuals polled would say they weren’t voting for Obama but would in fact do so behind closed doors?
The title doesn’t compute with the content of the article unless they are suggesting that more African Americans are going to vote for McCain than has been indicated to pollsters.
If the point of the article is to suggest the latter scenario, I see nothing in the article to support the assertion. In other words, “WTF”? It makes no sense to me.
Riots? More like an excuse to loot big screen TVs. But I think you’re right. There probably will be “riots” in most blue state cities.
Or course you would be sued for discrimination, so don't take my advice. I'm just spouting off because I cannot believe that so many people can be so damn stupid.
On the other hand, any family member of mine who is a beneficiary of my Trust had better not vote for Obami. If they do, and I find out about it, the Trust will immediately be revised.
I didn't work so damn hard for the past forty years to have an Obama lover living off my money. Harsh, you betcha...
WRONG! Obama's race is the only reason I WOULD vote for him. I want to vote for a black person for President. It's time we had a President who isn't a white Anglo-Saxon male. But Obama's not him.
So that's one reason to vote for Obama and 1,000 reasons why I will not:
1. He's a socialist, possibly a communist.
2. Jeremiah Wright
3. Bill Ayers
4. Frank Marshall
5. His work with ACORN
6. His four votes against BAIPA (This should be reason #1)
7. His angry, bitter wife
8. Bernadine Dohrn
9. His elitist attitude
10. His lack of executive experience
11. His promise to drastically cut military spending
12. Tony Rezko
13. Michael Pfleger
14. The fact that, technically at least, he IS a Muslim.
to be continued...
If it’s close, the headlines will read that the Republicans stole the election.
“If its close, the headlines will read that the Republicans stole the election.”
That is now axiomatic. What will the Republicans’ tactics be? Confusing ballots? Hacking? Police intimidation? Insisting that we only count the votes of people who are registered and/or physically exist? All of the above?
Strange; just today, my hunting partner and I were discussing this while taking inventory of ammunition and spare magazines. Oddly, none of either were legal for hunting.
Conclussion was that we should buy another case or two the next time we go to Cabela's.
Bradley lost the election because he was crooked and an idiot and the voters new it. Reading old articles on his run at governor, he could barely get the black/minority vote much less the white vote.
The MSM with the exit polls thought then they could control the outcome if they leaned towards Bradley winning. Failed them then, failed them in the Bush/Gore election and failed them in the Bush/Kerry election.
It doesn't matter what color he is. The name Barack Hussien Obama might work good in the hood but it ain't gonna play in Livingston Montana, Carson City Nevada, Pocatello Idaho.
Thank you for understanding what The Press utterly fails to comprehend.
It isn't what he says; it isn't even what he practices; it IS what Islam says he is, and that is what matters to our enemies. What matters to our enemies SHOULD concern us.
He is, technically, a Muslim, even if an apostate one, which in some ways could be even worse than if he were openly practicing.
Agreed, you are supposed to be color-blind in hiring and achievement...but please reserve spots for those who fit the color description.
Isn’t that exactly what the idea of equality ISN’T about?
The message of the Left is give in, pay up and and be silent on your national pride. Pride means racism, right?
It’s so immature! White guys lose all the time. The Black community needs to get over it!
If they react by rioting and basically throwing a national fit, then they will put themselves back years as far as having respect from the general population of America.
You heard of
“Get out the Vote”& “Rock the Vote”
here comes
“Guilt the Vote”
I'm planning on telling people that I voted only against Obama's WHITE half. (Then watch them have speechless apoplectic fits.)
I'm going to follow up with: "Now, if you had run a 'full' black man, such as Michael Steele or Lynn Swann, I would have voted for him."
95% of blacks voting for Obama is NOT racism!
Why? Because, as it was explained to me by a black guy I know, it is impossible for blacks to be racist because they are a minority!
“Only white folks can be racist,” he told me.
“The reason blacks are going to vote for Obama isn’t because he’s black, it’s because he’s the only one who knows how to change this country.”
BRILLIANT LOGIC!
I don’t buy this. I think 99 percent, not 95 percent, of blacks will support Oprah’s Obama.
