Dunno if the
Telegraph objects to hot-linking but here's one of the pix in the photo essay.

They don't serve them any smaller than that. A liter, I mean.

I so approve of this thread, it’s unmeasurable.

I'm not linking Number 7. Anyone who wants to see Number 7 has to go to the Telegraph's site. It's only fair. Besides, JimRob would ban me for eternity...

I think they are wearing aprons that they sell there.
Aprons...whats the chance of seeing one of those in the kitchen...lol

My two youngest sons were there and will be boarding the plane home in an hour or so. I've been missing them as they've been gone for almost a month. Great guys who make their dad proud.

Referring to a well-known restaurant Yogi Berra once said, "nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."
Like the snobs in Yogi Berra's extended malaprop, the locals around here tend not to go the wies'n as much as they did when I first arrived in upper Bavaria 20 years ago. There are just too many Americans, Japanese and especially Italians which are brought in by the planeloads and by the busloads to the point where it is almost impossible to get a seat without a reservation and it is almost impossible to get a reservation without a business or a club connection.
Most the locals around here prefer the smaller version located in Rosenheim, the county seat, which contains all the rides and carnival and all the ompa music and the same bier.
It seems that the annual measure of inflation is the price of a Mass of beer which I understand this year is 9.80.
Maybe I have just gotten older, my son who is 17 thinks both the local and the Munich Oktoberfest are just grand. One can legally drink at 16 (although so far he has not) and they have laid on special buses because the Politzei are absolutely manic about drunk drivers. The bus is appropriately called the "pro milia express ".
Prosit!

I think they are wearing aprons that they sell there.
The traditional Bavarian outfit is called a Dirndl, I drag mine out of my wardrobe and drive to stay with a friend in München.
We'll be there in the Paulaner tent having fun!

The event is an annual ritual that dates from 1810 and the party thrown by the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to celebrate his marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, it is therefore soaked in Bavarian tradition Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen...
Try saying that ten times real fast!
Especially after downing a few of those litre-sized beers!

LI, have fun. Have been to the Oktober Fest a number of times. Had a blast every time.
We attended the German-American Fest this month in Chicago and a good time was had by all as well.
Have a few beers and brats for those of us unable to attend in Muenchen. ;)
