University of Massachusetts officials on Monday quashed efforts by an Amherst campus chaplain to offer two college credits to any student willing to campaign in New Hampshire this fall for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

A Massachusetts State college interested in the voting outcome of another state ????
Ya, innocent interest, I’m sure.
Wow...the kiddies at ZooMass have to be bribed with college credits to go out and campaign for The One?
That can’t be...this is THE year that the youth vote is coming out in force to vote. Unless it’s really snowy that day. Or unless there’s a game on TV. Or unless...
Seriously, this is how it is up here. Behavior that breaks all kind of ethical and moral standards is tolerated if it helps a democrat. But there’s hope...tell everyone to vote YES on Question 1 this November!
The bastard probably broke the law. If he offered up the two credits for $100 he’d be riding in the back of a police cruiser.
$100 or some work, people will get credit for courses they didn’t take.
Democrat intergrity on parade.
What is question 1, and is it MA or NH??
I guess paying them is no longer enough. Being MA, this is hardly surprising. The corruption here is in hypermode, and has been for years. Most wonder if votes are ever even counted.
Defrocked? Are you kidding, this is MA, the chaplin is probably part of ACORN. This is nothing compared to what goes on everyday that ISN’T reported.
As a UMASS graduate (Ph. D., Polymer Science & Engineering, 1982) I am disgusted but not surprised at this chaplain’s action. This shows terrible judgment and he should be fired.
Question 1 will be on the Massachusetts ballot this November...a ‘yes’ vote will completely eliminate the state income tax within two years (cutting it in half for 2009 and bringing it to zero in 2010).
Beacon Hill will have to decide which is more important: the sacred cows (patronage, unions, waste) or the citizenry.
Last poll put it at 45%, and the informational booklets haven’t even been mailed out yet...
Thanks. I appreciate the info.
Not that I expect our communist legislature will listen to voters, they haven’t done that for years either. But we will vote anyway.
Watching 11 oclock news now to see what is up with “this” story.
OK this story is right, the colleges will not allow the exchange.
What’s a “chaplain” doing at a public university?
I agree the Chaplain should be fired. However, as a long time resident of Amherst in the 80’s I am pleased that the President of UMass said No. That should give you at least a smile.
I have a feeling his private life is probably already enough to get him defrocked.
That chaplain is a hack and sob. He should be dealt with appropriately.
I’m just waitin’ for one of those punks to get in my face.
I might just get in theirs.
