DURHAM, NH – John McCain has regained a slight lead over Barack Obama in the race for President in the swing state of New Hampshire. But many voters remain undecided and many more say they could change their minds between now and the election. The most important issue to voters continues to be jobs and the economy.

These findings are based on the latest WMUR / Granite State Poll, ∗ sponsored by WMUR-TV and conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center. Five hundred fifty (550) randomly selected New Hampshire adults were interviewed by telephone between September 14 and September 21, 2008.........

My daughter is a freshman in college in New Hampshire. We told her to vote there; it will count more than in Connecticut.

The Granite State could be pivotal in this election since Iowa and New Mexico appear to be shaky. McCain may win all the Bush states that were won in 2000.

The McCain List.

McCain retakes the lead in this New England swing state.

ARG also has McCain up in New Hampshire today, 48% to 45%.

Wise decision! That is how we win. Thank you.

I guarantee NH for McCain.

He's more popular here than in Arizona.

He's probably more popular here than anywhere else.

To put it another way, if McCain LOSES NH, where can he win?

McCain is popular there but he hasn’t been there a lot since the primary. He’ll go back a few more times and his lead will grow.

If we win Maine’s 2nd congressional district and New Hampshire that gets us to exactly 270 (assuming we lose Colorado, New Mexico, and Iowa).

This is excellent news. If McCain can pick up enough northern-tier states, he’s in.

Unfortunately, New Hampshire doesn't do much to the result in most electoral scenarios --

-- unless it can be paired with the electoral vote from Maine's 2nd CD. However, the polls of Maine are few and inconsistent.

If I were advising Mac, I would say forget about MI and MN. Mac and Palin need to take a tour along the eastern coast from FL to NC to Va to NH to ME and curve into PA.

We're still going to need every single vote on Election Day. If you are in NH make sure you are doing something to help get out the Republican voters. Drive an elderly neighbor to the polls. Call and make sure everybody you know voted. Drop by the VFW or the Fish and Game club and make sure everybody is going to vote for McCain/Palin.

Make sure anybody who will be out of town on Election Day applies early for an absentee ballot. Send them to see the Town Clerk as soon as possible. Mail the ballot back soon, or tell them to hand deliver it to the Town Clerk. Make sure they fill in the form correctly!

Tell anybody who is conservative, and not registered to vote to go to the polls to register and vote on election day.

And don't forget the state level races. Make sure to vote for the conservative candidates in the State Rep. races too!

NH’s been corrupted by the Libs fleeing the neighboring states the past few years.

But, if there is any Republican that might be able to capture the state it’s probably McCain. For whatever reason they’ve loved him there since 2000. I still don’t know why.

Unfortunately, New Hampshire doesn't do much to the result in most electoral scenarios --

Right now, RCP has Obama up 273 to 265 in its no-toss up electoral count. Flipping NH to McCain would make it a tie. That would mean the House would decide who is President.

Well, exactly, and the House would then elect Obama. That's why NH is, in many scenarios, inconsequential without the extra EV from Maine.

Tehnically you’re right, but I still think that New Hampshire is important. Obama’s voters and leaners in the West could get depressed if they saw NH turn red which could help us hold New Mexico and Colorado.

Rasmussen polled Maine last week:

Obama 50%
McCain 46%

So we definitely have a shot in the 2nd CD.
