NYT editor responds to McCain camp broadside
Michael Calderone:
NY Times executive editor Bill Keller responded, in an e-mail to Politico, to Steve Schmidt's contention that the paper is pulling for Obama, and that "it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization."
"The New York Times is committed to covering the candidates fully, fairly and aggressively. It's our job to ask hard questions, fact-check their statements and their advertising, examine their programs, positions, biographies and advisors. Candidates and their campaign operatives are not always comfortable with that level of scrutiny, but it's what our readers expect and deserve."
No, seriously...
Translation:
Pull my finger, McCain
What an idiot. All he’s done now is focus attention. A dignified silence would have been more effective.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
And that’s the way it is.
All seven of them.
LOL..and from the movie Mars Attacks. We are your friends we will not hurt you...Do they really think people believe them?
The New York Times is bleeding subscriptions. There is a reason. I think it’s staff is too stupid to actually understand how offensive they have become. The nice thing is that within the next five to ten years, the New York Times will no longer exist.
Those who fail to listen, fail to improve and grow.
At least they can go out shilling for candidates that are so far outside the mainstream that they can’t win. They could have supported people who were rational and could win, but hey, isn’t it better to be fringe player and die.
Im suprised it didnt say “Yea, so?”
They left out some words: "(unless the candidate is Barack Obama)".
Unless they're democrats.
“Candidates and their campaign operatives are not always comfortable with that level of scrutiny”
The most inexperienced POTUS nominee in a century seems very comfortable with that level of scrutiny. NONE.
It must be hard for Michael Calderone to sit still with his pants on fire...
Here, let me re-word his statement to reality:
"The New York Times is committed to covering the McCain-Palin ticket aggressively. It's our job to ask ludicrous and personal questions, fast-check their statements and their advertising, examine their programs, positions, biographies and advisors. The McCain-Palin ticket and their campaign operatives may not be comfortable with our level of slanted, biased, and subjective scrutiny, but it's what our liberal and leftists, slanted, biased, and subjective readers expect."
That is MUCH closer to the truth, but it is also of little consequence.
Because the more the MSM and DNC try to either smear, besmirch, or twist McCain's and Sarah Palin's words and experience, the more people all over the country will be drawn to her.
It's because of something the left and the elite cannot comprehend.
People like Sarah connect with everyday people. She is a mother who wanted to make a difference in her community and joined the PTA and it went from there. She didn't need an ivy league degree in Political Science, she didn't need a law degree, she didnt need rich connections, she just needed honesty, integrity, her faith, and a desire to serve.
She didn't seek wealth, power, or high position...it just happened and that connects with most Americans of all stripes (outside of the leftists and elitists whom she threatens) who in their hearts want to try and help their communities and improve things for their kids.
As a result, Sarah Palin is shaking the Democratic leftist-liberal house to its foundation, and bringing it down. She and her family, their faith, their values, and their story represent the absolute refutation of all the tired old liberal mantras and victimology that they malignantly use to mentally, pshycologically, and financially enslave whole classes of people.
From women's rights, to family values, to gun rights, to abortion, to energy policy, to taxation, to envrionmentalism, and on and on...she is a wrecking ball to the leftist, liberal, socialist house.

The New York Times is committed to OBAMA!
There. Fixed it.
Gee, Bill Keller, We’re blue in the face waiting for:
NYT examination of the Obama days as an Il. State Sen and the steering of grants and tax breaks to Rezko, Allison Davis et.al. ad the source of his income.
NYT looks into the plight of Obama’s step brothers and sisters, subsisting in poverty.
NYT looks into who actually bought “Audacity of Hope” and Dreams of my Father”. Echos of the old Jim Wright ploy: write a cruddy book your union buddies can buy in mass quantities.
Nyt looks into the Annenberg Chicago Challenge Where Obama, as head of the fund, squandered $101 million on educational experiments that showed absolutely no improvement in performance.
Just a Start, Bill
Watch out, Bill, your pants are on fire!
Since I’m a former newspaperman, let me translate:
>>>”The New York Times is committed...<<<
They are committed partisans engaging in what is now called “advocacy journalism.”
>>>... to covering the candidates ... <<<
In the case of candidates we support, covering up for them.
>>> ...fully, fairly and aggressively... <<<
We are full of it, quite often. We are fairly biased most of the time. We are aggressive in our support for the left and Democrats, and aggressive in our distaste and disgust of Americans, the Republicans, conservatives, and Christians.
>>>... It’s our job to ask hard questions ... <<<
But there are many times that it’s Friday at the office, or it just feels like Friday, and we take time to slack off.
>>>... fact-check their statements and their advertising ... <<<
While ignoring what we don’t like.
>>>... examine their programs, positions, biographies and advisors ...<<<
In the case of conservatives and Republicans, in the same manner as a proctologist performing a colonoscopy.
>>> ... Candidates and their campaign operatives are not always comfortable with that level of scrutiny ... <<<
In other words, please go f*** yourself.
>>>... but it’s what our readers expect and deserve...<<<
Our readers comprise the petit bourgoise, the folks Lenin called “useful idiots.” They expect us to smear anyone who doesn’t accept their narrow view of the world. These same readers deserve what they get.
There, translation complete.
I love it when their own words sound like parody.
hee hee!
I wonder if he wrote this with a straight face?
The key is in understanding that the liberal definition of “fair” differs enormously from ours. We think it means intellectually honest. They think it means anything that supports their position (which they think is intellectually superior).
O’Bama is not a candidate, he is the anointed, he is the ONE.
McCain is only a candidate.
“LOL..and from the movie Mars Attacks. We are your friends we will not hurt you..”
The line from Mars Attacks is “We come in peace.” We come in peace.”
Gak..gak..gak gak.
The New York Times is the American socialist’s Pravda.
Please give us just ONE "hard" question you've asked Obama, and the answer. (crickets)
Very nice post, SM.
At least they spared us the vigorous defense of the blind impartiality they don't have. It would have been too painful to read.
Executive Editor Bill Keller votes “present” and “reporting for dooty”.
The sad thing is that Keller probably believes they are being fair and unbiased. To them, its just that McCain is old and senile, and a warmonger with a bad temper, and Obama is fresh, young and vibrant.
You know, like when you have the misfortune to argue with a liberal, and inevitably, the conversation ends with the lib shaking his or her head sadly, and saying that “You just don’t get it.”
The NYT will be in busness until the revolution. When they finally get to the point of bankruptcy the government will bail them out. And if that happens in the next 3 months Bush will bail them out. He just wants to be loved. Is that so wrong?
From the email: “It’s our job to ask hard questions,...”
right! sure! that IS your job and just when do you plan to start asking ALL the candidates the hard questions, Mr. Keller?
One of the character you need to become a successful liberal is a shameless ‘thick face’. That you feel good about lying and take pride in delivering liars.
Everybody knows the Republicans own most of the media. McCain cries too much if he expects the NYT to lick his boots the same as Fox News, the WSJ, Larry Kudlow, Rush Limbaugh, ad infinitum.
The words turned to ashes as Keller spoke.
ping
Come ON, you have to give it to them on “agreessively!”
Remember the front page investigative fact checking report (hit piece) on McCain’s galpal?
COMEDY GOLD!
“The New York Times is committed to covering the candidates fully, fairly and aggressively. It’s our job to ask hard questions, fact-check their statements and their advertising, examine their programs, positions, biographies and advisors. Candidates and their campaign operatives are not always comfortable with that level of scrutiny, but it’s what our readers expect and deserve.”
So why aren’t you living up to your commitment, do your job, and give your readers what they expect and deserve?
Pictured below are some of the whacked out affirmative action liars with their hero, Jayson Blair plus their maggot infected leader, Pinch. These biased liars pose as op ed writers for the NY Slimes writing hit pieces about Sarah posing as opeds and editorials:

A serious pop quiz. Are you helping to finance the NY Slimes and its attacks against Sarah Palin?
About one year ago, Morgan Stanley unloaded a steamy smelling pot of NY Slimes stock from one of its mutual funds.

Still many left wing controlled mutual funds own pot fulls of the stinking NY Slimes stock. Is one of your mutual funds wasting your retirement savings to keep the Ny Slimes afloat? If so, you are helping to fund the Ny Slimes campaign against Sarah Palin and America.
Here is something, we can all do this week to start eliminating the NY Slimes as a threat to our nation.
We can do it at our computers and do it in less than 1 hour. Besides sending a severe warning to the NY Slimes and the mutual fund companies which buy and own NY Slimes stock. We will improve our precious investment capital being wasted on NY Slimes stock.
If a few thousand freepers did this simple action this week and a few thousand new freepers, friends and relatives each following week, we will have a terminal impact on the vile NY Slimes acts like their trashing of Sarah Palin.
Please send this simple "how to" to your blogs, friends, relatives and email lists. This action will serve as a cannon shot across the bows fo the other Dinosaur Liberal Fish Wraps re sedition will not be tolerated any more.

Want to smash the NY Slimes?
How many of us own mutual funds which own NY Slimes stock and even worse have increased their NYT holdings this year. NYT investment by a mutual fund company is a terrible investment re the dollar loss in Stock value the last 2 years. Those investments are an attempt to keep the NY Slimes afloat with our mutual fund $'s. Now it is very evident that the NY Slimes is an agent and abettor of the al Qaeda Serial Killers. The Slimes is endangering the lives of our families, friends, innocent Americans and every warrior of ours. Go to this link to see if your mutual fund owns NYT. http://moneycentral.msn.com/ownership?Symbol=NYT http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/invsub/ownership/ownership.asp When the MS Money stock home page comes up, enter NYT into the search area and hit enter and the following screen will show up re ownership of the NY Slimes stock: The New York Times Company: Ownership Information
Highlight the Mutual Fund Ownership and hit enter. If thousands of Freepers, whose mutual funds own shares of NY Slimes did the following:
We might have a lot more impact than trying to boycott companies which sell to the elite liberals of NYC and advertise in the NY Slimes. |
In closing: There are no free lunches, and we must support Free Republic on a regular basis! (Link to Donate/Become a monthly donor to Free Republic)
Mr. Keller,
Your readers expect you to lie and misrepresent all things republican and you never fail to deliver.
Enjoy your demise.
“...satire?”
My first thought was “No one could say this with a straight face.” No wonder the NYT’s circulation is in the toilet-it’s target market is drooling idiots, and there just aren’t that many, even in New York.
The NYSlimes is being fair...next year they will concentrate on the Obama bin Biden ticket.
