UPDATE: There’s been a number of rumors over the past several months that terrorists may use the ‘lull’ between the election and the new President entering office to launch an attack either on US soil or against US interests.
In course with a number of al Qaeda’s manifests of targeting the west, the current financial crisis may instigate attacks that will target some aspect of financial importance whether it be maritime shipping lines, any one of the world-wide stock exchanges, physical financial institutions, energy sources (oil) or other infrastructure.
TAM-C analysts have picked up chatter on jihadi websites in both western and Arab countries, about their contentment that western financial stability is compromised.

That is a good point. It might work better if they attack Iraq. If they attack us here, I think it will galvanize us.

I have to admit when I read this title I though "Well duh!" of course they are plotting. The aim is to deny them any reasonable hope of success so they never attempt to put their plans into action.
In the interview, the al Qaeda member claims that there are sleeper cells in the United States made up of Muslims of European decent and who are prepared to attack at any moment. He also claims that al Qaeda continues to seek WMD, implies that they already have them, and that “Texas is in our sight!”.
Yeah, of course they want to claim they have sleeper cells in the US. That's why they're called terrorists - their stock and trade is terror. It would be bad for business (their business) if we didn't believe they were here. They have to make us believe, have to try to terrorize us. Even worse for them (worse then not believing they're here) would be to believe they are here, but that they are no threat, that we can handle them. That comes from the sure and certain knowledge that they have to keep a very low profile (ie. non-operational) in order to remain secret. Or that they are already infiltrated by informants and/or agents. Or that even if they attempt and are possibly even successful in an attack, they won't succeed in terrorizing us.
In that last regard Texas would be a very poor choice for the terrorists. New Yorkers are tough, they shook off the 9/11 attacks and the destruction of the towers. However, if they "mess with Texas," they (the terrorists) are going to see a whole new world of hurt. New Yorker panache is based on nothing phases them, they've seen it all. Texas is much more in-your-face. You pi$$-off a Texan, there's going to be blood spilled, probably yours.

Well I guess it’s kinda there “jobs” to plan attacks. To George Bush’s credit, he’s keeping them very busy in Iraq.
If anyone is opposed to the Iraq war ask them: Who do you think we’re fighting there? The Iraqi guard?? I don’t care WHERE we’re killing terrorists as long as we’re killing them. This needs to be stressed more, we have drawn the terrorists into a pile where we can kill them.
I would think it depends on the type of WMD.
Houston is the third largest City in the US (since Katrina).
Texas has large sporting events in several cities.
Texas has oil refineries.
I would think it could be something that would affect the financial market in Texas. I am guessing that it has to be something to do with oil.
