As a Christian who speaks in tongues, I find this cartoon extremely offensive!!! Have the liberals completely lost their minds? Or did they have any, in the first place?
Where is the respect for others?
To: wk4bush2004
Let’s hope Christians wake up and vote like Christians, not like the sheeple they usually act like.

Here is the official Assembly of God reaction. As a member of the Assemblies I take offense also. Can’t remember how many members we have now but I’m sure this stuff will be remembered in the voting booth.
It only motivates the base more.

Assemblies of God response (excerpt)
“The cartoon is despicable,” states AG General Superintendent George O. Wood. “Millions of Christians today follow the example of first century Christians who prayed in other tongues. The Washington Post would not think of printing a cartoon that mocked members of the Muslim or Jewish faiths. It should be ashamed. Furthermore, Sarah Palin has to my knowledge never said she prays in other tongues.

Didn’t Paul say that he preferred prophesying over speaking in tongues (I Cor)? Also, if someone speaks in tongues, isn’t someone supposed to interpret? And if there’s no interpreter, the one speaking in tongues is supposed to shut up? Otherwise, as Paul said, someone will come into the church, hear everyone speaking in tongues, and will conclude that they’re crazy lol.

This will be the topic of discussion in many churches throughout the nation today. I am on my way now. I was assembly of God for 18 years and never spoke in tongues. My current church is not into that stuff, But I respect the tongue thing as something I merely disagree with them on (as in - it is always possible that I am wrong).
This cartoon offends me to the core. What is even more offensive is that the sensibilities of our culture have stooped to the level that it would be considered ok to print such a thing.
I have said that this depression will be worse than the first one for one simple reason, and this cartoon demonstrates it: In the 30’s we, as a culture, had more character.

The left revels in crude charicatures of Christians, be they charismatics or Catholics or anything in between. So if Palin had remained in the Roman Catholic church, the media would be full of slander against Catholics (more so than it already is). If she was, I don't know, Greek Orthodox or Presbyterian or Baptist, the media would make fun of that. But the left reveres Islam, especially its most radical and oppressive expressions. Offending Christians is a badge of honor while offending Islamists is the worst crime imaginable (well, the only worse crime is to offend gays).
I was wondering what would have happened if McCain had picked Lieberman. I think he would have been the wrong choice but the left would have responded with a barrage of crude hate right out of the Aryian Nations. It would have been revealing to those who are under the illusion that the Democrats are the party of tolerance.

It's amazing how the left has forsaken even the thin veneer of ‘objectivity’ they tried to hide their bias with. The hypocrisy is astounding. How dare they make an issue of Palin’s religion when ‘their’ candidate sits in a church for years on end at which racial hatred and anti-US sentiment is spoken from the pulpit?
To: februus
Guess the ba5+ard5 over at the Post couldn't come up with a Jewish connection for Governor Palin so they've stooped to bashing holy rollers.
This happens when they forget to pay their cocaine bill (SEE: Richard Cohen "on drug use at the Post")

What you have to understand is that Oliphant does not "share" in American culture. He's a funny little foreigner who spent most of his life hanging upside down letting all his %h|+ flow into his otherwise empty brain cavity.
Even though he has become widely traveled, the cavity remains empty(achieving that state whenever he opens his mouth).
You should not let him near young children or animals.

I'm a Christian who does not speak and tongues, and I also find this horribly offensive!! I think often Christians show more tolerance toward each other and toward other faiths than the secularist left shows to Christians . And I say this knowing that different Christian groups often barely speak to each other - that is still much more tolerant than the "tolerant" left! I don't believe in speaking in tongues but I don't make crude, simplistic jokes about those who do, just as I hope they don't make fun of me for not having an important sign of the Spirit. The left can exhibit indifference or intolerance but never, it seems, true tolerance.
