Rep. Charles Rangel's tax disclosures not only are an embarrassment for the Democratic congressman - they put him far over the limit to qualify for his rent-stabilized Harlem apartments.
While the powerful Ways and Means chairman previously disclosed income at or slightly above the $175,000-a-year stabilization ceiling on previous congressional documents, new revelations could put his earnings at more than $200,000 a year.
The disclosure could put pressure on Rangel to give up his New York housing perks, critics say.

I wasn’t sure from the article whether the $3,894/month is for all four units he rents, or for each of the four. If this is the total for four units that is incredibly cheap for NYC. If it’s for just one unit, then I wonder how he can afford to pay close to $12,000/month.
They are NOT an “embarrasment”.; Charlie is part of the something for nothing crowd and will take full advantage of every opportunity he gets because he knows that his stature in the party will not diminish and that he will not be jailed because that would be “racist” of amyone that tried.
RANGEL IS JUST ONE PART OF THE PROBLEM! Theres more where he came from.
It won’t happen. He will find a friend to transfer enough paper losses in the stock or commodities market to bring him back below the ceiling and probably get a refund on his taxes too.
This is an absolute travesty. Pelosi should be hung for failing to call Rangel to task on this! Rangel should be removed from office. This is beyond a joke and the Democrats have no morals whatsoever. Culture of corruption, indeed!

Previous reports have made it clear the $3894 is the combined rent for all four apartments...or $974 a month average per unit.
Yes, one unit was used as his office, paid for by US, the taxpayers. It hasn't been explored (to my knowledge), but how much you wanna bet he was OVERcharging the government for his "office" unit, thus offsetting his personal expense for the other 3 units?
Nothing this bum did would surprise me.
