Al Franken, the former "Saturday Night Live" star now running in a high-profile Senate race in Minnesota, helped craft the opening sketch mocking John McCain that kicked off the NBC comedy show Saturday, according to two well-placed sources inside the network.

Well, now watch for Charlie Rangel or other moron Demoncrats -- who will probably take whatever SNL/Franken does as a SKIT as the truth -- to come up with something clever to slam McCain and/or Palin:

"There is no question about politically it's a nightmare to think that a person's foreign policy is based on their ability to look at Russia from where they live." -- Rep. Charles Rangel

If Senator Coleman doesn’t use this somehow, he deserves to lose to Stuart Smalley.

Norm Coleman is going to clean Franken’s clock because:

a.) Franken is a true pinata’, there are so many ways to highlight his flaws the only thing missing will be a Mexican Mariachi Band.

b.) Franken will lose his cool and demonstrate why he lacks the wisdom, good judgment and demeanor to serve in ANY public office, let alone the United States Senate.

And the best reason why he’ll lose?

He’s an asshole.

Never mind that Sarah Palin never made that remark.

It was made by Cindy McCain during a discussion about Alaska and what that state is all about.

In passing there was mention of being able to see Russia from Alaska.

(this according to Ann Coulter, so please don’t shoot me if I’m wrong)

SNL stopped being funny — when they started showing their political leanings...I mean come on — there was sssssoooo much more material to work with during the Clinton years and they totally steered clear.

Have they yet to do a skit about obambi and cocaine or Rev. Wright or being a community organizer...hell, I can think of about 20 skits right there.

You’ve got some good reasons Franken will lose, but at the top of the list has to be:

Minnesota doesn’t want to look THAT stupid.

Al Franken running for Senate. Maybe if we are lucky he will run for President in 2012 with Bill Maher as his VP. I’m sure the likes of the NY Times would be all over that. God I hate these liberal actors or comedians that think they need to educate us on the what is best for us. Al, Bill Maher, Matt Damon, John Cusak are on a long list of individuals I cannot watch now.

Rangel with all his criminal baggage still finds the time to be relevant! The koolaides getting stronger, Charlie is getting his information from SNL.

Can't this be considered a political donation? (technically to Obama, but realistically to McCain)

uhhhh, SNL ROSE to fame because of it’s political skits on Gerald Ford. Chevy Chase doing Ford, remember? Then Reagan for 8 years and Dana Carvey doing Bush 1? They had two good Clinton impersonators the next eight years. And you know, up to 2000, (and Bush now), the republicans have been able to pretty much laugh at themselves. Carvey got invited to do his shtick for Bush 1. I don’t think Clinton was a huge fan of the skits because of how they protrayed him, but even the left couldn’t ignore what he was doing and just HAD so much material.

I think it really went downhill after 2000 because there was SO much left/liberal hatred that Bush won, they were just determined to slam him no matter what. Lost in 2004, still fuming about it. Now in 08 they are going balls-out and are using SNL as a democrat vehicle to take the lowest of the low shots and elevate their liberal savior candidates.

Franken helps craft McCain 'SNL' skit

I watched it...and couldn't help but laugh at the over-the-top
voice-over artist.
And the "professionals" helping sell the concept/premise of
the ridiculous commercials.

Yeah, it was a knock at McCain...but even if he eventually
"approved" all the adverts...at least he was asking "is that true?".

What's too bad is that SNL probably won't replay the skit mocking
those "Lifetime" channel's "all men are evil" films.
McCain was a scream as the "man who's stalking me!"...
when in actuality, he gently explain's himself by saying
"Actually, I'm your husband and sometimes I just like to be
around you!".

Point taken, although as I recall Coleman has not been shy in taking on those globalist nitwits at the U.N., and for that I give him credit, although we have to also remember that Coleman only joined the GOP in 1996. Prior to that he was a ‘Rat in good standing.

The hilarious skit McCain did spoofing the Lifetime Movie on Husbands Invading One's Personal Space is on the SNL website, page 5, with a title that includes the word Stalk.

It's a must see - McCain is a great sport.

Thanks for the tip.

When I think of great SNL guest appearances, McCain's work and
Christopher's Waken's "MORE COWBELL" send up of Blue Oyster Cult's
producer are the first that spring to the front of my silly brain!

I was so dumb I got extra laughs out of the Chris Walken “cowbell” sketch because at the time I thought they were being random, adding that cowbell. But then later when I heard the song on the radio and realized that the music DOES INDEED include the incongruous sound of several bovines trotting to the barn, I found it even funnier, LOL.
