Gov. Palin more a token than a feminist (Barf Alert)
The San Francisco Chronicle ^ | September 20, 2008 | Caille Millner

Posted on 09/20/2008 7:42:50 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Election 2008 is the gift that keeps on giving to American identity politics. First Hillary swept in the hoary 1960s "debate" about feminism. Then Barack reminded Americans that we remain illiterate on the subject of race. And now - just when I thought I was safe - Sarah Palin has somehow turned Republicans into feminists and the rest of us into sexists.

Fine, I'll take the bait. As a young woman who did not support Hillary Clinton, and is quite convinced, unlike Mrs. Schlafly, that "victimology" can be a philosophy that knows no bounds of gender, race, class or creed, I am happy to posit exactly why Sarah Palin is not a feminist. The reasons have less to do with her politics, odious though they may be, because if my understanding of feminism is correct, she has as much of a right to her views as I do mine.

What, then, is "unfeminist" about Palin? Start with her selection. Even her supporters do not deny that she would not have been chosen had she been a man.

Palin is the neophyte governor of a sparsely populated and eccentric state. Few people had heard of her before the announcement. She has few substantive accomplishments to point to on the issues that are important to voters right now - the economy, health care, education.

In interviews, she has exhibited a total lack of genuine interest in foreign policy, John McCain's one great passion during this campaign. (The problem with her not knowing what the Bush Doctrine is isn't that she didn't understand the concept; the problem is that she wasn't interested enough to pay attention when it was being discussed.)

What she brings to the ticket is her personal story, her conservative social views, and - most important - her gender.

The maladjusted liberals and MSM slime continue to try to marginalize her and demonize her, but the truth is that Sarah has ignited the Conservative base, has boosted mccain’s chances of winning the election, and is a beacon of light for the future.

We must continue to close ranks around her and STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK!

I would be supporting any Republican candidate with her credentials. This article reeks of snotty, liberal presumption.

Caille is probably just saying what the white boys down at the DNC are telling her to say. I imagine, she’s normally just clueless.

Sen. Obama More a Token than a Masculinist.

I never thought in 2008 I would label a half-minority a token. But turnabout is fair play.

Obama, with his experience, would never have been supported by George Soros if he was not Half-ican.

I meant, George Soros found Obama's lack of integrity, intelligence, speaking ability, as well as his Half-ican race, excellent reasons to sponsor Obama Hussein Biden.

“The problem with her not knowing what the Bush Doctrine is isn’t that she didn’t understand the concept; the problem is that she wasn’t interested enough to pay attention when it was being discussed”

If you substitute the word “thinking” in this quote for “the Bush Doctrine,” it then applies perfectly to the writer of the article.

Caille like Charles Gibson fails to understand the Bush Doctrines. Ms. Palin tried to get a clarification from Gibson on which doctrine he was talking about. It was then obvious that Charles was clueless. Surprise surprise. Perhaps Charles and Caille should change their names to Pyle.

I don’t care if she’s green and yellow stripes....some of the stuff SHE wrote is major-me-me-me-poor-me stuff.

This is the third mindless hit-piece on Governor Palin by a black columnist I’ve seen so far today. I think these black journalists are petrified by the fact that Barack has no obvious qualifications and are trying to distract attention from him and his empty suit. There are more prominent black Republicans well-qualified for the presidency than black Democrats, and if Obama flames out, as he likely will, the next black Democratic presidential candidate is going to be a long time coming. The other prominent black democrats are clowns.

I don’t care if she is a token or a feminist or a totem pole, i’m still going to vote for her and John McCain...

Besides who says she cannot be a token and a feminist at the same time- does it really matter ?

You know, the irony is that the feminists may say Sarah is not a feminist in that she does not back every one of their core of beliefs, yet she is running for a position of the highest power in the USA and still she is getting flamed by some feminists...I can see why many women do not pay attention to the feminist code anymore....When the Feminists made politics a litmus test of Feminism, that made their arguments even weaker...

I won't give sfgate a hit, but I'll bet this is by a college student.

And for the life of me, I can't remember a single time I have heard the word "feminist" in reference to Sarah Palin pass the lips of McCain or Palin herself.

PDS is a result of a common social disease that infests members of the left, which if left untreated, attacks the nerve centers of the brain. In turn, this leads to voices in the head that become a personal reality to the victim.

Then the afflicted soul begins to answer the voice in the head, a voice that no one else can hear, save other souls suffering the same mental degeneration due to the untreated social disease.

We've all seen them on the sidewalks of great cities like San Francisco, gesturing angrily as they talk to unseen adversaries.

And normal people ask, "WTH is she ranting about?'

Yeah, we need Barack Obama to lecture us on race.

Maybe he can take us all on a guided tour of TUCC.

Or Michelle can in his absence (since he never seems to accomplish anything on his own).

I thought feminism was all about a woman’s choice. Oh, not if you choose life.

I though feminism was all about a woman achieving any position a man could, being the top of your field, balancing work and family, having it “all”

Oh, only if you are a liberal.

Sarah Palin should be The Essence of Feminism.

Oh, too bad she is a conservative.

Feminists are such hypocrites.

The same old feminism. You would think that over the years Feminism would have evolved into something nice. Instead it is like a retrovirus that is milignant and resistant. It is ironic that their obcession with abortion is part of a death cult that kills more girls than men. These sociopathic women have no real joy in life. We must warn our daughters to avoid this narcisistic affliction to save their lives and that of their grandchildren.

They like calling minorities ‘tokens’, don’t they...

Only the underdogs from the Left are worthy of praise. God forbid one rises from the Right: “it can’t be, there must be something wrong”.
