In most organizations where leadership positions are determined by democratic elections, there is a built-in self-preservation instinct to evade tough issues. But union leaders at a recent AFL-CIO meeting in Chicago did something very right, maybe even courageous. It was inspirational to see and hear honest, principled testaments about the union movement and race: where we came from; how instrumental we have been in the march for civil rights; how important it was for each of us individually within our unions and collectively to the public to speak out like never before against racism in all its forms.

I worked for an International Union for years.

I could never understand why they supported the democrat candidate.

Union members at least are workers ... why would they want to take on paying for non-workers as in the socialist America Obama and others want?

In a way, they are like Blacks. Always supporting democrats and never getting anything from it.

The Democrats and their media allies are turning to a new, desperate, and very dangerous tactic. Rush talked about it on Friday, but he missed the mark. Rush said that Democrats are preparing the argument that racism was to blame when 0bama loses. It is, in my view, a far more dangerous strategy than that.

What Democrats are actually doing is setting the table for holding America hostage on election day. 0bama and his surrogates are race-baiting in order to agitate minorities in what will be the final tense days of the election. There will be an outright threat of racial violence and rioting if 0bama loses made in the final 48 to 72 hours. The goal is to intimidate America into voting for 0bama or face the consequences, much like the OJ Simpson jury was faced with finding OJ not guilty or watching LA burn.

Rush didn’t take his hypothesis to its natural, obvious conclusion. This is not about having an excuse the day after. This is about making a threat the day before.

I honestly believe that When Obama first start his campaign and won Iowa and won all those white votes, the Dem voters were voting for him, because they thought he was beyond the race thing, but now they have found out different.

Well, that is certainly true up in Minnesota’s NE Iron range area, which is usually strongly Democratic. This year the polling is showing a tie between Obama and McCain.

Some of the reason, however, is not because of race. The redneck Dimmies up north love Sarah and Todd, enough to look a second look at John McCain. Sarah and Todd look just like them; they hunt, fish, ice skate, snowmobile, are pro-life, and are just plain nice folks.

I hope this continues, as it will make it easier for the state to go Republican this year.

Actually, race frequently does play a role in some elections. There are many thousands of black voters who will vote for any black candidate before they will vote for a white/hispanic/asian candidate. Look at recent poll results in say, Chicago or Detroit. In essence they are saying "White candidates need not apply."

But that's OK in their opinion because they want to be governed or represented by someone who understands their problems and issues.

White voters don't have the same ability to be racist.
