McCain commercial blames Obama for 'amnesty' failure – in Spanish

A new Spanish-language John McCain television commercial airing in Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico attacks Barack Obama for not doing enough to support the so-called "comprehensive immigration reform" legislation backed by President Bush and Sen. Ted Kennedy that was defeated in 2007 after a national uprising in which it was characterized as a massive amnesty scheme.
The English-language translation of the 30-second commercial, "Which Side Are They On?" is here:
Announcer: Obama and his congressional allies say they are on the side of immigrants. But are they?
The press reports that their efforts were "poison pills" that made immigration reform fail.
The result:
No guest worker program.
No path to citizenship.
No secure borders.
No reform.
Is that being on our side?
Obama and his congressional allies ready to block immigration reform, but not ready to lead.
McCain: I'm John McCain and I approve this message.
Announcer: Paid for by McCain-Palin 2008 and the Republican National Committee. Approved by McCain-Palin 2008.
In supporting its claims in the commercial, the McCain campaign cited a Christian Science Monitor column of April 17 by Ariel Sabar that said: "Obama was part of the bipartisan group of senators who began meeting in 2005 on comprehensive immigration reform. But last summer, with the presidential nominating race well under way, Obama backed 11th-hour amendments supported by labor, immigrant rights, and clergy groups that Republicans saw as imperiling the fragile compromise. None of those measures passed. But Obama was part of a 49-to-48 majority that voted to end after five years a temporary worker program that had been a cornerstone of the immigration deal. The vote, backed by labor, was seen as a major setback to bipartisan negotiations."

How anyone can support McCain after eight years of opposing Bush's support of Amnesty for illegal aliens, knowing full well the illegal alien invasion is destroying and will continue to destroy the country absolutely defies logic.

I hate to burst your bubble but the President/Presidential candidate sets the agenda for his or her administration and any VP running mate is so because that person has agreed to support the Presidential candidate on at least a majority of the issues.

Gee, isn't it funny how the "I'll never vote for McCain!" crowd--who have spent the last two weeks taking credit for Palin's selection due to their "pressure"--are emerging to say "See I told you so!" ?
There are only two reasons to support McCain, and no one here has any illusions about that--because it sets up his more conservative VP for the future (thus bringing energy to help defeat Obama and possibly stave off disaster in Congress by blunting the Dems' gains there" and because he's not Obama.
You guys still don't get it. We don't love McCain any more than we did before--we're just not willing to let Obama ruin the country. We're not as "pure" as you all, but we love our country and understand what all mature adults get--sometimes you don't get to choose between good and bad, but worse and slightly better than worse.

Perhaps those complaining will prefer the Somali Muslims currently being brought in to take the place of Mexican illegals to work their local slaughterhouse. You know the ones demanding special holidays and walking off the job to demand special religious treatment.
It's time to work out our illegal issue. Its festered too long but it's far better to have Catholic Mexicans with at least similar culture to ours than Muslims from half way around the world.

Perhaps we can support McCain because we aren’t single issue voters, and we realize having a Muslim as President at a time when our chief enemy is radical Islam, would be catastrophic.

I have no doubt that McCain will win, mostly by virtue of the fact that his opponent is even more pathetic than he is. The sad thing is that his voters are worshiping him like some kind of God and are only emboldening him to do whatever the hell he wants. (he’s still a public servant)

Sadly McCain will see the large anti-Obama vote as his mandate and work across the aisle to get things done will only hurt conservatism, while Palin might as real at that time be posted on a milk carton, as she will be seen less than Cheney the next for years.
I wish sometimes McCain would limp across, then he have to hold special regards to conservatives for getting him there.

I’ve reluctantly moved into your camp. I despise McCains push for amnesty and think it will be disastrous for us. If there were ANY other choice, I would never vote for McCain.
But Obama will do this, and more, to damage America.

I have said many times....and I still say....
I cannot vote for the 'lesser' of two evils.
I am not a hypocrite...and I still pay close attention to the issues of my heart.
..but I have never been as hopeful, as energized since McCain picked Governor Palin to be his running mate.
He gave me a reason to vote in this election.
I don't know all the ins and outs or why he made this daring move....(except for the obvious, he really wants to win)
..but I think, I truly think she IS from God...
..and I intend to work to get them elected, and I intend to put a bumper sticker on my car, and I intend to vote for them.
I pray for him....I pray she will influence him for the good...I pray he will know the Lord in a very real way...
...Most of all I have been praying for mercy for our nation, even though I had finally accepted we were heading for judgment instead.
John McCain's choice of Governor Palin looks like mercy to me!

You know I do. You also understand our reasons for vocal opposition to McCain. He's simply the last man in the GOP who should be given a mandate to freely do as he pleases. After all, this is a man who would happily shut down Free Republic and other sites that he feels are detrimental to his agenda.
As far as Sarah Palin is concerned, I like her but recognize that she isn't being elected to the presidency, at least not yet.

But it’s easier to track Somali Muslims than it is to track Mexican illegals. A Somali Muslim commits a crime, he can’t escape to Somalia to avoid punishment. An illegal Mexican commits a crime and they can skip past the border and the American government can do nothing. And besides, most Somalis that are in this country were *invited* here, unlike the ME-xicans.

Please help me with the answer. What is Sarah Palin’s stance on the illegals?

Having Palin on the ticket won't do a thing unless McAmnesty kicks off early in '09. She will have to agree with and back everything he says so they have a united front. In effect, he will liberalize her so much that we may not recognize her as a conservative in '12.
