Sarah Palin’s private e-mail hacked, family photos raided; cesspool blog gloats
Michelle Malkin Blog ^ | 9/17/2008 | Michelle Malkin

Scroll for updates…Wired News confirms…

Sometime early this morning, between approximately 3:00am - 4:00am, members of an infamous group of hackers broke into Gov. Sarah Palin’s private Yahoo e-mail account. The incriminating discussion threads included screenshots of Palin’s e-mail and private e-mail addresses of her contacts. The threads have since been deleted.

Hacking e-mail is a federal crime. A TV anchor who broke into his colleague’s e-mail account recently pleaded guilty and faces a maximum five years in prison.

The law will catch up to the hackers, but what about the lowlifes who are now gleefully splashing the alleged contents of Palin’s private e-mail account all over the Internet?

The Gawker smear machine — see here for all the background you need — has posted private family photos of Palin’s children that were apparently stolen from the e-mail account.

They have used Bristol Palin’s illegally obtained private cell phone number from her mom’s private account, recorded her voicemail message, and posted it on their website.

They have reprinted her husband Todd’s private e-mail address and son Track’s private e-mail address.

You think this is just a harmless prank? Those of you who have had to deal with break-ins and identity theft know exactly what a burdensome process it is to recover from crimes like this.

Gawker knowingly and deliberately published illegally obtained photos of the Palin children.

Where are the privacy absolutists now?

You think Palin Derangement Syndrome is bad now? These by-any-means-necessary lunatics are just warming up.

Let me repeat what I said about Nick Denton and his slime businesses in 2006. It’s every bit as relevant now. And I expect the same cowards who said nothing then to remain silent about the violations of the Palin family’s privacy now:

YAHOO is not safe.

People need to be aware their email and any and all transactions they conduct via YAHOO are vulnerable to hacking.

Spread the word. YAHOO is not safe.

No! I do not believe these people are the majority. They are supported by people who would be appalled at what they do, but simply do not believe Democrats/libs would do this.

This is a small bunch of evil (yes evil) haters who delight in causing pain and feel justified because the people they smear think differently from them.

It is time the majority of citizens wake up and stand up.

We have sat around and ignored this stuff to our, our children's and our country's peril. So much brainwashing has gone on, I just hope it is possible TO stand against it.

I’m starting to have my doubts about Palin...

First with trying to ban books that hadn’t been written yet,

Then we find out she bought her own tanning bed with her own money when we all know Alaska gets plenty of sunshine for 6 months a year...

And now, NOW we find out she had a YAHOO! account?!?

These are scandalous items, people.

I’m so glad we have William Ayers’ protege and one of Reverend Wright’s flock to guide us in these troubled times.

I disagree. Wasn’t there a site where you could down load tunes for free. Remember Napster? The record companies went after individuals and put a halt almost over night to illegal downloads.

The computer is a two edged sword. If you can see out, someone can see in. It’s the first phase of Big Brother eventually watching all of us...

In fact, in a world where terrorists have access to nuclear weapons, that might be eventually what happens. A totalitarian state that has robots through a computer eye watching every inch of the planet.

Enjoy these last days on earth, My Friend...because there will soon be no place to hide.

Concur

This will not be some overworked assistant DA somewhere looking into this, it will be the Secret Service. I suspect this is likely a federal crime since it was over the wires and crossed state lines, and furthermore I would expect that the Secret Service has very legitimate security concerns as a result of this.

Not to diminish the outrageous violation of privacy, but from a cynically political standpoint, this stunt will only increase the support for Gov. Palin. Even her biggest detractors will look bad if they do anything but condemn this.

And Yahoo needs to consider the fallout and cooperate with the investigation, stat.

I would have to respectfully disagree;

The Secret Service is bound to protect “Major presidential and vice presidential candidates, and their spouses within 120 days of a general presidential election.”

This is paramount to a personal attack on her and her family — because privacy is assumed the very act of hacking into her account alone will draw the attention of the Secret Service as an attack on a VP candidate...I would not want to be the POS or POS’s...that are responsible for doing this.

YAHOO has alot to lose regarding this hack job

I'm afraid that they problem lies less with Yahoo than with our own reluctance to use secure passwords. I would imagine that a dictionary attack based on combinations of child names ,maiden names and birth years would get into her account very quickly. I don't think that Yahoo limits login attempts, either.

Her password really should have been something like "%^#*){}", but few of us could remember such a string.

“Yahoo being a Bay Area company is probably infested with liberals.”

I think you are right. I do not believe you call it a break in if the person entering has their own set of keys and I am willing to bet dollars to donuts this was not an external hacker but some liberal minded person with access providing entre.

re: secure passwords

I always use a minimum of 10 characters that combine numbers, letters, and symbols. I never use any English word in the PW......

Is that still good enough these days or do secure PWs need to be longer and more intricate?

Clearly, demonrats don't understand the golden rule, karma and the idea that what goes around, comes around. There will be a point, assuming we haven't reached it by now, when a majority of decent Americans will say "Enough!"

People relate to Sarah Palin and her family and know that they don't deserve this treatment. We may put our candidates through the ringer, but there are limits a majority of us recognize and honor and are repulsed when those limits are crossed. The demonrats don't realize it, but they have gone way beyond those limits. The payback is coming.

The more power the Left gets; the more degraded our political environment becomes. No doubt; there ARE people who cannot handle ‘freedom’ or in truth, Democracy. It does have a critical ‘moral component’. The Left is totally absent such moral attributes. They swim in a collective cesspool. . .
