It's true that Dems seem to hold an edge in both state in Presidential elections, but that is not the only measure of "liberal", is it. I mean some might argue that Bush is pretty liberal himself.
I also live in Santa Rosa had something like that happen. There was a lady with a petition to pass a law outlawing the cutting down of some trees on private property in Santa Rosa. I decided not to sign it. She asked why and I told her because people should be able to do what they want with their own property. She started screaming “We are running out of oxygen!!!!” at me and followed me out the door as I got out of there.
Santa Rosa is nuts.
We are thinking/planning on moving because we want to expand our business and dare not do it here for a whole lot of reasons.
My former independent Baptist church in FL takes on a major role in the annual march for life down there, and I have demonstrated against abortion "clinics" alongside both Catholics and protestants. But most of the protestant and evangelical churches in and around the small towns where I live now don't do much along those highly visible lines, although the small Southern Baptist Convention church that I attend does help financially support a local pro-life organization that operates temporary living quarters for young pregnant girls who have been mistreated or disowned by parents or guardians. And it also operates an adoption service as an alternative to abortion for pregnant girls and women who have been persuaded not to have an abortion but either don't want or can't support a child.
So-called "gay marriage" isn't as big an issue for me as right to life issues are, but I strongly support a traditional marriage amendment to the Constitution. Man-woman marriage and 2 parent families have been two major foundation stones of western civilization for 2000 plus years, but if the radical left represented by Obama and his gang of lefties get their way those foundations will practically disappear within the lifetimes of some people here on FR today. We can't let that happen if we want our children and grand children to live in a morally decent, non-sectarian but God-honoring nation as the founding fathers intended.
I remember an Oregon Democrat Congressman who was a leader in Congress for pro-2nd Amendment bills. Of course he stood out like a sore thumb among his fellow Dem critters, but his constituents must have approved because they kept on electing him. He may still be in Congress but I can't check on him because I don't remember his name.
I should have said "a supporter of pro-2nd Amendment bills". I don't think he was involved heavily enough to be called a leader in the fights over those bills.
and continued to scream vulgarities without control or restraint. >>
satan gets mad when you go against him.
