OSLO, Sept 12 (Reuters) - The amount of sea ice around Antarctica has grown in recent Septembers in what could be an unusual side-effect of global warming, experts said on Friday.
In the southern hemisphere winter, when emperor penguins huddle together against the biting cold, ice on the sea around Antarctica has been increasing since the late 1970s, perhaps because climate change means shifts in winds, sea currents or snowfall.
At the other end of the planet, Arctic sea ice is now close to matching a September 2007 record low at the tail end of the northern summer in a threat to the hunting lifestyles of indigenous peoples and creatures such as polar bears.

I have a problem with shrinkage in the winter time.

It is NOT “global warming” if the average temperature is going down, not up. The warmest year on record, by ALL accounts, was 1998. I expect we’re about to see some more significant cooling at least over the next decade, based on three independent factors (solar cycle, MD ocean oscillations, and volcanism).
The perpetrators have tried to shift the mantra to “climate change”, but even they know that’s silly. It has to be “human caused climate change”. BUT, that doesn’t work either, since it’s quite obvious that we’re not causing the cooling.
The next attack vector will be that “the cooling is just temporary, and as soon as the x/y/z factor goes away the planet will start warming again”. To which, the only sane response is, “Fine, but in the meantime WE’LL WAIT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS rather than making otherwise detrimental and extremely expensive decisions NOW”. $45 trillion is only the beginning. ;-)
Perhaps at some point someone will think to address the elephant in the room, which is to say total human population. On the other hand, the cooling may take care of any surplus.

Translation from botspeak: Contrary to last year's hysterical predictions, the Arctic ice held larger this year than last year's summer melt.
That is completely wrong. It is only in the last year or two that the climate modelers started saying "our models show Antarctic may not warm at all for awhile". Of course, this is due to the fact that Antarctic temps have actually been falling and not increasing as the models had predicted.
If the models had predicted that Antarctic temps would not fall for a long time, then why was Hansen and Gore out there trumpeting Antarctic ice melt - rapid sea level increase - for so long.
All the old model predictions and those shown in the IPCC reports even, predicted greater warming in Antarctica and the Arctic than other areas. These global warmers have no problem lying and distorting history whenever they want.
So ice is traveling like hair on a middle-aged man’s head or weight on a middle-aged woman’s body.

Perhaps due to geomagnetic reversal caused the the Earth’s passing through the galactic plane or a pole shift.
The MSM can’t find Chicago either... funny how that can’t see stuff that might undermine their preconceived notions.

I don't remember Hansen or Gore ever predicting major Antarctic ice melt in the near-term (next coupla centuries). Greenland, yes.
