You're right about the glasses, but the whole interview was insulting.
The sophomoric overuse of in intellectual terms from the 1960s was dreadful. I felt embarrassed for Charlie.
It was reminiscent of Gore sighing during the debates with Bush. Rather than looking intellectual, he looked like a pompous ass. It was the same with Charlie.

The Aleutians are neat. They’ve got volcanoes. Check them out with Google Earth.

Of course, the DUmmies are all over this "gaffe", and
there are numerous hits on Google about it already.
Thank you DUmmies.
To show the that complaint about "Americans don't know geography" is
true.
For Liberal Nutbergers of the Democratic-Socialist parties.
Even I knew the answer to that question. And I'm no geography expert!
Besides, get up to 33,000 ft in a civilian aircraft over the
western reaches of Alaska...and I suspect you'll probably be able
to see some part of Russian on a clear day.
Grnated, you may have to be sitting in the cockpit and headed west
to mainland Russia.

More interesting facts re Alaska: It is the most NORTHERN, most EASTERN and most WESTERN state.
It is more than twice the size of Texas or 1/5 the size of ALL the lower 48 states.
If you lay Alaska on top of the lower 48 it stretches just about from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

Palin is proven correct again.
DEM/DU/KOS wrong again.
How many smears/gaffes of the left have been debunked?
Gotta be Palin 110, to libs 0
I guess when you cannot find anything of substance to attack with, you are waiting for any minor gaffe.
LOL

“Have you noticed that every time they jump up and down and yell hoorah we finally proved how dumb she is, the pseudo-intellectuals are taught that what she said WAS the truth and they again look like the idiots they really are?
Savor...LOL”
Sort of reminds me of Charlie Brown and Lucy and the great football fake!! :)
Come to think of it...

When I was a kid, San Francisco columnist Herb Caen’s nephew walked across the ice from Alaska to Russia and got arrested.

It was journalistic pomposity.

On a clear day I can see it from South Mountain.

Bull. My Pops was stationed in the Aleutians in WWII, Russians did come by light truck and on foot over land and frozen sea in the Bering Straights.
The opportunity usually exists twice a year.
Here is some proof that it’s not only possible, but it’s been done: (watch the whole series)

LOL!!!
I am cackling in a silent house where all the creatures - man, children and animals - save myself, are asleep...at least they were, and if any of them come trotting down the stairs in the next few minutes and spoil the most peaceful part of my day, it is entirely you’re fault!
