Dont expect to see Barack Obama spending much time in the Republican stronghold of Idaho this fall. The Democratic presidential nominee trails John McCain by a staggering 68% to 29% in the first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Idaho voters.
McCain has the support of 96% of the states Republicans and 18% of Democrats. Obama is backed by 77% of Idaho Democrats and three percent (3%) of GOP voters. Unaffiliated voters give McCain the edge by a whopping 63% to 30%.

Thirty-seven percent (37%) have a Very Favorable opinion of the Republican nominee, while 43% have a Very Unfavorable view of Obama.
Those feelings extend toward the vice presidential candidates as well. Not only do 65% of Idaho voters think McCains choice of Sarah Palin was the right one, but 57% have a Very Favorable view of the Alaska governor. Fifteen percent (15%) see Palin in a Very Unfavorable light.
By contrast, only 28% think Obama made the right choice in picking Delaware Senator Joseph Biden as his running mate. While 18% say their opinion of Biden is Very Favorable, nearly twice as many (33%) say they have a Very Unfavorable view of him.
I live in Northern VA. There are liberal idiots everywhere here (we are probably outnumbered 2-1). Maybe I should retire to Idaho.

NO OSAMA
NO OBAMAAND NO CHELSEA'S MOMMA!
NoVa is changing - too many nutcase libs moving in. Hopefully the rest of the state can overcome it (I'm still registered to vote in VA, will be sending in my absentee ballot).
As for those Idahoans, they must be bitterly clinging to God and guns!
GO BOISE STATE!
Idaho is a lovely place and a darn great place to retire. Excellent place for conservatives and people who enjoy the outdoors. A lot of politicos that lived in VA to do the government business have second homes, there, vacation there or have a full time residence. There are many different parts of Idaho, so if place doesn’t appeal to you it is likely there is a place that will.
Wisconsin actually went to Kerry in 04 albeit by only 0.4% Incidentally it went to Gore in 2000 by 0.2%. I wouldn’t be surprised to see McCain spending some time there.
Let’s Roll conservatives. Do it for Todd Beamer on this day.
If McCain/Palin can’t take Idaho, we are all in trouble.
Where are the ‘does Obama have a red state problem’ reports?
Great news!.....but I’m wondering why Rassmussen (or whoever paid them) wasted money on polling Idaho. Unless something really really funky happens Idaho will vote R without question.
Kerry took Wisconsin.
That map is wrong. Bush only got 286 EV.
If McCain loses CO and IA this year and Obama gets the 1 EV from KS it’s a tie and Obama is president.
Just move to Chesterfield VA. I will work the polls but I know how my county is going to vote.
There isn’t going to be a tie this year.
LOL! That’s one of the funniest ‘poster’ I’ve ever seen!
I guess they love all the lefty elitists dumping on Idaho universities.
C’mon Howard Dean, what about your “50 state” strategy?? Let’s see you pour some millions into ID, WY, UT.....
Or in the case of Obama’s campaign be sure to follow the “57 state” strategy.
Not to worry, Senator Obama..... your running mate Biden will really help you nail down Delaware’s 3 electoral votes!!
(obviously Alaska has the same # but just as obviously Governor Palin is proving to be an enormous boost to the ticket across many states, which cannot be said for Biden!)
The voter fraud in the cities will blow us out of the water.

I live near Seattle. I always enjoy heading east and being able to talk with normal folks. I’ll never forget doing a job in northern Idaho and driving up there listening to Al Gore give his concession speech on the radio. Reading the newspaper in the small-town cafe and reading the small-town paper later that week gave the county voting results. It was something like 6,000 for Bush and 37 for Gore!
If Obama gets one electoral vote from Kansas, he will get them all. He won't, though. You must be thinking of Nebraska where electoral votes are assigned by Congressional District but Obama isn't going to be getting any there, either.
I keep hearing how the south is the backbone of the Republican Party, but it is without fail the Western states that most strongly and consistently vote Republican.
When you look at the states with the widest margins of (R) victory, you can pretty much look to Wyoming, Utah, and Idaho.
There are actually a decent number of Republicans in King County. They’re just in hiding. The tree hugger, anti-war crowd is quite vocal in Seattle town, but it’s usually only 60-40 or 65-35.
This country would be better off if it was run by just the people in Idaho and Wyoming.
No shock there. I’m surprised they even invested the money to do a major poll there. Everyone and their mother knows that it will go red in a landslide. It went 69%-30 in 2004 and 69%-28% in 2000.
“Just visited Northern VA last week - I saw a lot of Obama bumper stickers. But on a positive note I also saw this one:”
There is no question that Obama is winning the bumper-sticker war in a landslide in NC. There also is no question that he will lose the state.
No surprise here.

I'd suggest you be careful not to say that in certain parts of the state...especially north of about Riggins or so. :)
okya....I am giving North Carolina, Alaska, Idaho, and North Dakota to McCain/Palin.....they have overwhelming percentages in favor of McCain.....25 electoral votes....
Washington is winnable....that's why I think McCain and Palin should campaign here....get 65% of the state, and 40 -45% of the Seattle area, and I think it can be done.....
I’m not so sure I’d be quick to assign PA to Obama.
Yippeee...GO BOISE STATE...(except when they play Nevada)
