So after tours of duty in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, the California-born Roberson came to Oklahoma for a second career.

Glad to hear our young people still think that way.
Sad to say but many of the graduates of “education” programs are not necessarily good teachers and many excellent teachers with college degrees are hindered from teaching because they lack the “teaching certificate” from a school of education. I have been teaching college courses for nearly 10 years, but am “unqualified” to teach in my local high school. I would have to spend close to two years of additional college “education” courses to become “qualified” to do a job I already do.

Yep, really strange. I read somewhere that Ferdinand Porsche would not qualify to teach engineering today. Albert Einstein would not qualify to teach physics, on and on. Guess maybe they missed out on “self esteem building” courses. SF
