You’d be surprised. Some Republicans are for much smaller government. You know, “abolish the Federal Income Tax” stuff like that.
Wrong. Ron Paul is against the Federal Government telling people what to do. You should be able to come up with a better insult than fascist. Perhaps anarchist?
If the government doesn’t get to spy on everyone, you’ll have anarchy, right? Ron Paul doesn’t want the government spying on everyone, so he’s an anarchist. That at least makes some sense.
Ron Paul has returned to his roots and is behaving as the vile treacherous Libertarian snake he always really was.
Oxymoron of the week: “major Ron Paul announcement”.
Arrogant self aggrandizement.
Let's hope that the deluded old fool tries it.
Last I read here, Ron Paul was anticipating the need for sedition against the US govt.
Ron Paul wants to overthrow the elected government of the United States. That makes him a want-to-be tyrant.
No, I don't believe so.
Some Republicans are for much smaller government...
Yes, I'm one of them. But this is no way to accomplish that.
I suspect Ron Paul just wants to play the part of Ross Perot and give the American electorate Barack Obama as president.
I also suspect that he may be misjudging us.
I’d say most republicans like that idea, but it’s a long-term goal. It’s not going to change overnight. Change overnight would require a revolution that has almost no chance of happening and even less chance of succeeding. What will definitely not help is getting Obama elected. Far better to put things in a holding pattern with McCain than to have a new generation grow up under an almost socialist Obama regime and thinking it normal.
I saw Ron Paul’s speech at his event at the Texas Republican Convention in June. The whole room full of people looke like it was from an alternative universe. He’s become a legend in his own mind.
Hey wait one moment.
Where is Alan Keyes in all this?
Alan I LOVE you Please Back your party, even McCain was tossed aside at one time.
We love you Alan back the ticket.
I was just saying that some Paulistas are currently planning on voting the McCain/Palin ticket.
Some of those Republicans who supported Paul in the primaries (20% in south central PA) and are now supporting McCain/Palin will support Paul should he appear on the ballot.
Or are you thinking that McCain would get none of the 22% who voted for Ron Paul in Lancaster County, PA?
McCain/Palin are going to be in Lancaster County, PA on Tuesday. Maybe they’re going to ask for the votes of the 22% of the Republican primary voters in Lancaster County, PA who voted for Ron Paul?
I guess you’d tell the McCain campaign not to bother?
My argument was that a relevant number of people who supported Ron Paul in the primaries are currently planning on supporting McCain/Palin. Lesser of 2 evils is one factor. Really liking Sarah Palin is another.
I guess youd tell the McCain campaign not to bother?
You sure do make a lot of assumptions. That's why I don't debate with Paulistas. They try to think for us.
I've stated my position. Stop embellishing it to suit your agenda, please.
What’s the Ron Paul quote again? Is it the Thomas Jefferson quote, something about a tree of liberty? I don’t think he said he wanted to overthrow the government. Either way, wanting to overthrow the government isn’t the same thing as wanting to be a tyrant. Remember anarchy. I’d guess that if you wanted to overthrow the government and replace it with not much government at all, you’d be an anarchist (minarchist?) and not a tyrant. I’m not saying that’s Ron Paul’s position, just that there are strongly negative words that you can use to describe Ron Paul that more accurately represents Ron Paul’s positions. Fascist and Tyrant are not Ron Paul. Anarchist or Minarchist could possibly be.
I was responding to your statement
“The Paulistas were never going to vote for McCain, so this shouldn’t make any difference.”
And I mentioned that
1) Ron Paul got 22% in Lancaster County, PA and
2) McCain is going to be in Lancaster County, PA on Tuesday.
To me, it seems clear that the McCain campaign is looking for votes from people who voted for Ron Paul in Lancaster County, PA in April.
Perhaps there are 2 separate groups: “Paulistas” and “9261 regular conservative Republicans who voted for Ron Paul in Lancaster County, PA in April”
Bush lost to Kerry in PA by 145,000 votes, give or take.
Ron Paul got 129,000 votes in PA in April, give or take.
I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, but wondering if there is some wishful thinking in your posts.
A valid way to look at it, but I don’t think Soros wants more people in the US all fired up to abolish the Federal Reserve.
