Vote Obama: he's half white! That's the pitch some Dem ward and union heelers are making to white voters in parts of Philadelphia. According to a Philly.com story, Biden gets mixed welcome in Northeast [emphasis added]:
Mike McAleer, the veteran Democratic ward leader of the 66th ward in the far Northeast, said Obama and Biden haven't closed the deal yet.
"The Dunkin' Donut crowd tells me that we've got everything going for us but Obama," McAleer said. "They can't give me a direct answer. Do I have them right now in the 66th ward? No. But I got 60 days to get them."
Asked what the problem is with Obama, McAleer paused and said: "It's his color . . . I tell them he's half white and half black. He's got a better perspective for everything in this country."
Joe Dougherty, business manager for Ironworkers Local 401, which hosted Biden's morning event, also said race is an issue for many Democrats.
"I hear it in the neighborhood, and I hear it in the union," Dougherty said. "But I remind them (Obama's) mother was white. He sees all sides, and he could be just what we need to bring this country together."

Well, she may have been white, but she was also extremely confused - to the point that very few Americans will be able to identify with her embrace of the socialist world view and resultant bizarre life choices.
In other words, she was a nut.
Or maybe he has a worse perspective on everything. Judging from the comments of Rev. Wright and Obama's other close associates, I suspect the color of his hide will be anything but an asset.
In fact, I'd expect an Obama administration to be as agonizingly PC and just plain *bad* as the worst episode of Star Trek ever. And Barack is no Frank Gorshin...

You make choices in life and when Obama moved to Chicago and aligned himself with Trinity United he choose his path. If he had moved to the North Side of Chicago and built his career there the “Ward Healers” would have a credible story.

That’s ancient history. What’s been hyped in BHO’s political ads, the video tribute at the convention and in BHO’s own speech have been his white ancestors: the grandfather who marched in Patton’s army, the Kansas roots of his mother & grandparents, etc.
His father gets barely mentioned even though from all accounts, he likely is the genetic source of Barack’s speech-making skills, ambition and narcissism. It takes a certain kind of ruthlessness and insensitivity to so shamelessly and frequently throw friends and family members under the bus in pursuit of one’s personal ambitions. Barack Senior displayed the same single-mindedness in using
people when it suited him and then abandoning them when they were no longer needed.
He “journeyed” to Chicago to experience his black heritage because he previously was immersed only in the culture of his white grandparents. While there, he shed any remnant of white influence to jump through the political hoops ... that is, until he decided to run for national office.

That reminds me of something I did a long time ago. My aunt and my mom told me I was part Spanish Sephardic Jew. As soon as I heard that I was part Spanish Jew, I couldn’t stop hounding every person I saw with a yarmulke (I have Asperger’s Syndrome so I kind of had problems knowing what was appropriate and inappropriate to ask and I get really involved in something that strikes my interest.)
But in reality though, my Jewish heritage was VERY different from the heritage of the people who I met, since most Jewish-Americans are Eastern European Ashkenazi Jews, not Southern European Sephardic. So even if I asked them about my heritage and they knew somewhat, they wouldn’t know as much as a Sephardic Jew about my heritage.
Barak Obama moving to Chicago to find out about his “black roots” is somewhat similar. He tried to find out about his “black roots” from African-Americans who really have nothing in common with Obama’s “black roots”.
His ancestors were people who lived in small, parochial villages and tribes. The ancestors of the Chicago Blacks were Western African slaves. They have almost nothing in common, and as a (partially) black man, it comes off as extremely condescending.
