DILLONVALE, Ohio - So much for the 50-state strategy. Barack Obama, who once pledged to compete in every state, has shifted his thinking. Now, he'll pick and choose where to spend time and money.

Despite early optimism, Obama's strategists are mapping out an electoral plan similar to Democrat John Kerry's from 2004.
Good. Persue the strategy of a loser.
Lots of new voters registered for the state's March primary, and Democrats now enjoy a 900,000-person advantage on state voter rolls. Pennsylvania favors Obama by a million registered Democrats. Michigan doesn't register by political party.
Most of these voters registered late, as part of Operation Chaos. They'll in in for a rude suprise when these "Democrats" vote for McCain-Palin.

So much for running in all 57 states. Obama wouldn't be caught dead in Wasilla. Its not like he can properly pronounce it! (laughing)

I see no particular enthusiasm for Obama. He got licked by Hillary here, and McCain is well-thought-of. Interesting sidelight. I enjoyed a little Happy Hour in a local bar tonight with a friend and we were talking about Sarah. A burly biker was putting money in the music machine and, hearing us, turned and asked? "Palin?" I affirmed that yes that was who we were talkiing about and he got excited and said "McCain? I'm for McCain!" I said "I'm there." and made a new friend with enough tattoos for both of us. Just found it very interesting that a biker and a shrink share the same view of America, in a very small town in the heartland.

Obama lost 83 of the state's 88 counties during his primary campaign against Clinton. Some Obama aides worry the outcome might be similar come November; McCain's advisers expect it to be even worse for his Democratic rival. It's telling that Obama traveled to the state twice in less than a week. He'll be back.

The Dem corruption hasn't stuck to Strickland, who has been a better governor than Taft (not saying much). But he did sign the concealed carry bill; and HUGE yesterday, he persuaded the initiative group seeking to put paid family leave on the ballot to keep it off.
Now, he did that to save jobs---smart. But it's gonna seriously hurt Obama because that was going to bring out the Dems in droves.

If this race is close it will be decided in an arc from PA, WVa, OH, MI, WI, MN, IA and MO. In the last election the President won WVa, OH, IA and MO, while the Dims won PA, MI, WI and MN.
Some other states like NH and NM are up for battle, but that is the key arc of states.

Doubtful he can win Ohio given the level of dem corruption in the state this past year.Especially given the importance of Cuyahoga County(Cleveland) to the 'rats. With the death of black heroine Stephanie Tubbs Jones and the disruption of the 'rats by FBI raids and coming indictments against county 'rat bosses, the possibility exists that their GOTV effort will be seriously compromised.
If they don't get the usual overwhelming edge in Cleveland/Cuyahoga, they're toast in Ohio.

Obama aides also believe that Republican nominee John McCain is unlikely to match the GOP voter turnout that President Bush got in 2004, something McCain's own aides acknowledge. A few weeks ago I'd have agreed with them. But now, especially after the Palin nomination and juvenile media attacks, I think we're looking at broken-glass voters come November.
I'm surprised this article says Obama still thinks VA is in play. I really think he missed his shot at VA when he didn't name Kaine or even hothead Webb as VP.

He never visited Alaska even in the primaries. But that’s not really reniging on a campaign promise.
Not taking public financing, now THAT was a symbol of how totally unprincipled Barack Obama is. He had a principled position against raising money for his campaign, but discarded his principles when he found he could make a little more money.
Note that McCain could have gotten more than 85 million. He got 10 million in a couple of days. But he is a man of principles, both good and bad ones.

Reminds me of Bush deciding to campaign in California instead of Florida during the last week of the 2000 campaign.
We should trust the good people of Ohio to give the Anointed One an appropriate welcome. If he’s campaigning there he’s not in PA, CO, VA or other close states.

This is remarkable; Barry's handlers have decided they need Ohio to win, meaning they aren't confident of carrying Nevada or Colorado. A GOP ticket with two Westerners will help to solidify both.
This race is shaping up to be very similar to 2004; Carry Ohio and Florida, win the election.
