More held as convention protests continue
Tally grows to 315, expected to rise

ST. PAUL, Minn. | Another day brought another series of protests during the Republican National Convention, as law enforcement officials remained on guard in a week filled with violent activity.
National Guardsmen in full riot gear took up posts around the Xcel Energy Center following two days of protests that saw hundreds arrested, traffic disrupted and tear gas in the streets.
Officials said 315 people had been arrested as of Wednesday evening, up from 280 on Monday. Secret Service spokesman Darrin Blackford said more arrests could come later, particularly with the band Rage Against the Machine playing a concert Wednesday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
"I think it's just earlier in the day," Mr. Blackford said. "We anticipate more activity this evening."
Some protesters still took to the streets Wednesday, as the convention passed its halfway point. The antiwar group Code Pink demonstrated at a breakfast for Texas delegates to protest what it said is the Republican Party's relationship with the oil industry.
Later in the day, Code Pink members also staged a peace march to protest Sen. John McCain's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. Group spokeswoman Jean Stevens said four members were arrested by law enforcement authorities and charged with trespassing during the march.
"There are several members who are surrounded by police," Ms. Stevens said from the scene in St. Paul. "Within a span of 40 minutes, police really descended."

Has anyone heard anything else about this attack?
It happened. They got in. We need better security

I remember hearing a woman’s voice yell something during a quiet moment in the speech. That must have been her. I saw footage of someone being marched out of the hall later. Why do protestors dress so poorly?
Yeah, it was Jodi Evans of Code Pink and another female(?). There was a thread on FR about it and it was on Fox News web page.
They were Code Pink wackos, with a ticket supposedly given them by a “disaffected” Republican woman who is a realtor from Indiana. One of the wackos is a bundler for Obama.
They were hustled out fairly quickly, but my main question is how they got into the building in the first place. Don’t they check for photo IDs at the convention?
CBS showed only a quick shot of somebody being hustled quickly up the stairs by 3 or 4 uniformed men...nothing was said about it...PBS didn’t show anything at all.

"Shut up or we'll taze you, bro."
Kristin posted a thread on it.
Thanks for the link...FreeRepublic is the best source!!!
their mothers dress them funny
What is the realtor’s name, and where does she work or live?
What I noticed in watching the replays, Sarah never missed a beat in her speech. What a pro we have on our side!
AND the danged teleprompter got screwed up! She's ready for prime time.
Why are “Peace Activists” usually the most violent?
Hypocrites?
They are NOT peace activists. If they were they would be protecting the Russian invasion of Georgia. They are communist punks. They hate the US as a country, as a life style and as an idea.
I am all for protesting but when they act like an ass they need to be corrected swiftly and harshly. If they cannot function within the normal range of civilized behavior they do not deserve civilized treatment.
“They were hustled out fairly quickly, but my main question is how they got into the building in the first place. Dont they check for photo IDs at the convention?”
I was at Madison Square Garden at the RNC in 2004. Same thing happened when W was making his speech Thursday evening. Checking photo ID’s would not make a difference.
I thought the ticket holders were registered? Perhaps not with photo IDs, but their names must have been there. I have no idea how Code Pink gets into these places. They disrupted the State of the Union address, IIRC, a few years ago, also having gotten in under false pretenses. How do they do it?
Correct. They are what is know as Community Organizers.
I was a guest of a delegate. I met him a few days earlier while greeting delegates at the airports. (Metal detectors were in place at the entrance of Madison Square Garden.)
Volunteers were required to “register” in person in NYC, with photo ID’s, over a month or so in advance, if I remember correctly.
We started working the airports on Sunday. Gathering with other volunteers in the evenings to discuss the day, we heard there were people pretending to be legitimate GOP volunteers, but they were really leftists wanting to disrupt any convention activities they possibly could. (Remember, the host city needs thousands of volunteers. They can’t possibly know who is sincere and who isn’t.)
With the volunteers, food vendors, construction crews, etc., present at a convention, I’m surprised that more incidents don’t take place.
But boy....security must be everywhere. Just like yesterday, they acted so quickly and dragged the person out before you realized what was happening. I’m assuming our politicians are accustomed to these things. We just don’t know what goes on most of the time.
Here is an answer for our questions....
I was on the live thread tonight...day 4 of the convention. Not sure if you were on the thread, but if you watched it on TV tonight, you saw the protestors...several times. Someone posted these links..
Protester in the rafters was part of Ron Pauls counter rally.

They are bragging, Ron Paul delegates got him in.
They are bragging about disrupting..

Wow! That’s very interesting!
You’re right, it’s hard to control an event of that size. This is particularly true if the attack is coming from an unexpected side, in this case, Ron Paul. I have always thought that extremists go so far around the circle that they meet at some point, and I guess the Ron Paul-leftist moonbat fusion is an example of this.
I hope there’s no more trouble with him and his followers.
