O'Reilly vs. Obama: From a conventional wisdom point of view, this should be the intellectual equivalent of Godzilla vs. a blueberry Pop Tart. The way most of us envision this interview happening is that Bill O'Reilly will pepper Obama with questions regarding his connection to William Ayers, the "Chicago Annenberg Challenge" the two of them ran together, the millions of dollars Obama and Ayers spent, Barack's pro-infanticide policies, as well as a whole host of other issues.
As Barack tries to spin and filibuster his way through the interview, Bill would stop him, point out that the candidate is saying nothing of substance, and again demand a clear answer. Barack, in the face of tough questions regarding the reality of his past, his terrorist associations, and caught without a teleprompter, would be reduced a stuttering pile jell-o. This is not a conventional wisdom election though, and conservatives should be concerned about this interview.
The timing of the interview should cause anybody with any sort of political astuteness to get a whiff of something awful and pungent coming from the general direction of Denmark. The O'Reilly vs. Obama interview is set for Thursday night; this is the night that John McCain accepts the Republican nomination, and gives the conventions most important speech.

This is more about BOR’s ego than anything else.
B O’R ask a hard question?
I think that ended about three years ago.
Now he’s kinda the Larry King with orange hands.
My TV will be on C-span as it was all last night!
BO’R and BO are both egomaniacs who are absorbed in self-promotion. BO’R is so thrilled with getting BO to show up on his show that he will not ask embarrassing questions because he wants BO to come back and boost his ratings.
That’s why I consider him and Whorealdo the weakest links at Fox.
It's been all downhill after that.
There will be no hardball questions - except for two or three apparently hardball ones for which Obama will have a carefully prepared answer.
My guess is that the No Spin Master gets a big fat “F” for this interview. He’s not gonna pressure Obama and I’m sure will give him ample opportunity to wiggle out of any tight spots. It just doesn’t make sense to think that Barry would have allowed himself to appear on that show given any other circumstances. I hope I’m wrong but O’Reilly is basically about O’Reilly so I’m not expecting anything from this.
Sarah threw out a whole 50 gallon drum of whip @ss last night. O’Reilly is going to suck up to Obama like a new calf sucking a teet. I’m not holding my breath.
Dennis Miller all but told BOR this last night. Don’t think it sunk in.
Next week’s “Mller Time” should be devoted to blowing up BOR and his ego and the softball interview he’s about to give. I hope I’m wrong.
“Don’t throw softballs”
Hyeah, right.
The “tough Irish street brawler” schtick is bogus.
O Really? is the biggest pussy anywhere on “talk broadcast”.
He can only get tough when he has someone he can bully.
(Not only is he a wuss, but he’s also an incompetent interviewer. He can’t think on his feet and respond in real time to his counterpart’s points. He simply doesn’t have the intellectual ability nor the rhetorical skills.)
A pox on him.
I'm not sure that "Ummm, er...ah....ah....well,....uh..." is technically a filibuster.
Question #1: Describe your executive experience.
Question #2: Goto Question #1.
Bad form, for both Obama and Bill O'Reilly.
I will definitely NOT be watching.
Look at all that the finger in the air populist didn't ask the Hilldabeast
.
O’Reilly had to promise Barry softish questions to get him on.
most folks who watch O’Reilly won’t vote for Barry anyhow so aside from Bill’s rating ...what’s this all about Alfie?
on Geraldo....he’s full of hisself and wacky but he’s got a cute young wife, baby and he has seen some combat and danger stuff that O’Reilly would never touch...and he does adore the troops he covers....even though he is somewhat left-hedonist
and let’s never forget how O’Reilly screwed this forum and JR like he did...a real backstab and liar.
Bill is all huff and puff and when he’s face to face he’s a pussycat. I won’t watch and I hope his ratings suffer tonight considering the the convention is going and this is the last night. Shame on Bill for scheduling this interview. Who in the hell gives a damn if it might be his last chance to interview? After the McCain win Obama will be very available for interviews, ofcourse after a few weeks of self reflection and maybe another book.
Honestly, I would rather see Megyn Kelly interrogate Obama, I have a feeling Obambi set “pre conditions” with O’Reilly as to this interview and we already know that Obambi is the one that said it had to be tonight.
I am sure part of the deal involves B O’R giving the messiah the questions in advance. No way Obama would appear of he thought he would be asked a question he didn’t know ahead of time.
If Bill does not ask tough questions, he will lose big time cred with his audience. He lobs softballs at his own peril.
“I...uh...well...you know Bill...that’s...uh...above my pay grade. Uh...well...um...that’s how white people will do ya.”
I disagree. BOR will ask tough questions, but he will allow BO to take as long as he wants to answer and won’t call him out on outright lies.
After all, the terms of your big "get" were DICTATED by the BHO camp, so by all means be respectful and thankful to the messiah.
Washing his feet might also stand you in good stead.
Obambi wouldn’t have agreed to appear on that show unless he was assured of no hard questions being asked. Obambi is too much of a wimp to ever go into a potentially tough situation.
The Giants/Redskins game seems more appealing. I’ll read all about Obama here tomorrow.
Softballs?
O’Reilly will throw loofahs.
I think I may just skip this as well. I can’t imagine anything new or particularly informative will emerge and if it does it will be all over FR tomorrow and I can catch up there.
His salacious lust for Obama has been revolting.
O'Reilly referred to Obama as "a patriot" during the Jeremiah Wright broadcasts.
He will say anything to get the ratings and advertising sales.
There is nothing fair or honest in him.
I was underwhelmed when he interviewed Hillary-thought he was too syrupy with her and I was expecting a tougher interview and I think he will go soft on O so he can appear “fair and balanced”.
I am sure for BOR to get this interview he had to “sell his soul.” There will be a few tough questions but I am sure in order to agree to the interview Obama had to have the question up front. The interview will be a joke and totally set up.
Also, BOR's descent back into his "tabloid" journalism type of reporting has really left me cold. Then, there is the sense since the beginning of this campaign, that BOR has been "in the tank" for Obama.
As for when McCain announced his running mate, that was on Friday, yes, you know Mr. O'Reilly, the day AFTER Obama's speech. Not the day of!
First, let me say I’m not a big BOR fan although I watch his show a few nights a week. He has some interesting guests and although he has a tendancy to talk over people without really listening to what they are saying he has had some provocative interviews. Second, when I heard about the schedule of the first part of the Obama interview for tonight I was furious but quickly realized as others have commented that BOR was in a take it or leave situation.
With this said I think that Obama’s people may have smuggly overstepped on this one. The interview is almost secondary. With the buzz from Sarah Palin’s speech tomorrow night a lot of marginal Obama supporters are going to look in tonight to hear the interview but some stick around to hear what McCain has to say. They’ve seen the newsclips of Palin and tonight they will ultimately see both of them on stage again after McCain’s speech.
I watched the Hillary interviews and think BOR may have been as tough as he could be under the circumstances not wanting to offend his female viewership. Maybe he can do what Couric couldn’t after three questions on the surge - finally get Obama to say the surge has worked!
If BOR is going to stay around I think he needs to have some better research done on global warming and energy issues. He is often just a mouthpiece for the extreme on these issues and tends to slough off anyone who questions the more othordox line. He tends to belittle expanded drilling picking up on the 10 year timeline which most experts say is baloney.
Governor Palin did very well last night, and I saw the Rick Warren interview a little while ago.
Warren's interview was the best because it forced Obama to answer tough questions with zero forward notice.
O'Reilly's people will probably give The Black Racist the scripted questions so that he can craft his answers in advance.
The only way we will know if my theory is true or not lies in Obama's stammering and stuttering.
If he answers the questions directly and easily, then that means that O'Reilly prepped Obama.
BUT, if Obama stutters, stammers and jitters around, that means that the whole thing is impromptu as it is supposed to be.
"Mr. Obama, will you release a certified original copy of your birth certificate - the one that lists which hospital you were born in not the summary certificate your campaign released - or barring that just tell us tonight which hospital you were born in " ?
You may not have noticed it on TV last night, but two protesters were screaming at at Palin and appeared about to rush the stage. The Secret Service hauled them out.
Who were those people?
This should be a big story, but it is barely getting a mention. O'Reilly has a chance to make it a big story.
Watching on TV it sure did not seem Palin was the least bit ruffled by it, although the Washington Post blog mentioned the incident.
Do we know who these people were? Yes. Code Pink. They actually brag about it.
One of the protesters (assailants?), Jodie Evans, is not only an Obama Supporter, but a top fundraiser for Obama, and that really should headline news want to bet it wont be?
And who wants to bet O'Reilly doesn't have the guts to ask Obama about it? Ayers too hot to touch? How about some current violent supporters Senator?
The way I see it, BOR gave BO a list of 50 questions he’d like to ask and Obama picked out 5 that he’s prepping for as I type.
On another topic, I’d like a yard sign with a can of spray deoderant with the slogan reading “No to ‘BO”.
I think calling Obama 'Godzilla' is a bit of a stretch.
Mine too. I wouldn't walk across the street to watch this soiree.
BOR gets the vapors when in the presence of (alleged) “charismatic” people — the equivalent of Crissy’s tingles up his leg. He’ll be the consummate wuss in this interview.
Yep, he suddenly turns into Chris Farley,
"Obama, remember when you gave that speech in Denver?"
"Yes, I do."
"That was awesome."
“My husband and I have stopped watching BOR, and have switched to Glenn Beck. As my hubby says, “when I watch Glenn Beck, I at least learn something”.
I agree with your husband. I enjoy Glenn and hope that one day he gets onto a more mainstream channel instead of CNN Headline News.
When Barbara Walters interviewed him several years ago he said that he thought Bill Clinton was a great president. Have not listened to him since.
Hannity would do a better job, but obama would have the nards to face him.
O’Reilly will kiss him some Obama ass. Bet on it.
>>>Hannity would do a better job, but obama would have the nards to face him.
Hannity would do a better job, but obama would [NOT] have the nards to
thank you aruanan for the correction.
I missed the important “NOT” in my haste. I was going to add, hillary could loan him hers if she isn’t using them
“Why does the left hate bill o?” I don’t understand that either. My only guess is because he is on FOX and you know what the left thinks about FOX even though FOX gave Hillary more favorable coverage than any other news organization. Bill will ask Obama some hard questions but he will ask them in a very apologizing manner and he will make sure he cuts down a few conservatives while he does it.
