Obama Launches Ad Campaign Attacking McCain for Pro-Life Policy
LifeSiteNews ^ | 9/3/08 | Kathleen Gilbert

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 3, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Obama campaign threw their vehemently pro-abortion stance into relief by investing in radio ads attacking pro-life Sen. McCain for threatening to take away women's "right to choose."

The ads feature the voice of a "nurse-practitioner with Planned Parenthood" warning her listeners that McCain will seek to have Roe v. Wade overturned and ban abortion.

"I know abortion is one of most difficult decisions a woman will ever make," says the woman's voice.  "Let me tell you - if Roe v Wade is overturned, the lives and health of women will be put at risk. That's why this election is so important. John McCain's out of touch with women today. McCain wants to take away our right to choose."

The ad then plays a sound byte from an interview on Meet the Press with John McCain, confirming his support of a constitutional ban on abortion.  "We can't let John McCain take away our right to choose," the woman concludes. "We can't let him take us back."

The ad campaign signals a shift in strategy by the Obama campaign, which until now has skirted the abortion issue in favor of other issues of interest to women, such as healthcare and workplace discrimination.  According to Politico.com, the campaign decided to change its tone under pressure from women's rights groups who are demanding Obama to clearly identify himself as the pro-abortion candidate.  The ads will air in at least seven swing states; readers of Politico reported hearing the ad in Florida, Virginia, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin and Colorado.

The McCain campaign has made no secret of the Republican presidential nominee's rejection of "abortion rights." His surprise choice of pro-life and pro-family Gov. Sarah Palin for his running mate offered values voters even more reason to trust the Republican leader to champion the rights of the unborn upon election to the White House.  Some have even suggested that the Obama ad will help McCain, whose unapologetic stance on the issue is considered a strength by many in the conservative camp.

Meanwhile, Sen. McCain has launched his own ad campaign arguing that Sarah Palin, whom some have deemed under qualified for the vice-presidency, is more qualified for executive office than Obama.

The campaign announced: "The McCain campaign will launch a television ad directly comparing Gov. Palin's executive experience as a governor who oversees 24,000 state employees, 14 statewide cabinet agencies and a $10 billion budget to Barack Obama's experience as a one-term junior senator from Illinois."

Anyone know where the public stands on this? Is he appealing to the majority or minority?

Not that I’m trying to pander to polls; abortion is murder. Period. I’m just trying to determine whether or not it’s a winning strategy, or just preaching to the choir.

Overturning Roe v. Wade will NOT ban abortion. It wiull simply return the decision to the people of each State.

Obama is trying to win over the abortionist demographic.

At least its finally an issue. I guess he’s decided to give Bristol a rest for the moment. He was hoping to debate her, since she’s just a heartbeat away from a heartbeat away from something or other, but they haven’t been able to work out the logistics.

So he’ll beat the abortion drum until they can figure something out.

I'm opposed to abortion.

It's much tidier to deliver them and
leave them in the linen closet until death.

What amazes me about these morons, they support the right to kill an innocent baby in more ways than one, but they will also support the rights of a convicted murderer rapist of young children from the death penalty because it is cruel and unusual punishment.

The obvious response ad is to tell about Obama’s promise to federally fund abortion, then to run Obama’s ghoulish take on live babies during an abortion, and then to say “under Barack Obama, your tax dollars could go to pay for babies who will be killed outside the womb.”

That’s one thing the left and Satan cannot allow is to allow people to decide on this issue,

because every human has a God-given sense of right and wrong that tells them that

killing the innocent is WRONG.

"I know abortion is one of most difficult decisions a woman will ever make," says the woman's voice.

I've never understood the logic of this line about a "difficult decision". If a fetus is not human, than why should an abortion be any more a "difficult decision" than removing a mole. If one says it is "difficult" it can only be because one recognizes a fetus as a human being, in which case abortion is state authorized murder.

I’ve heard the radio ad here in Ohio. It’s really unsettling to see the dems unmasked for the barbarians they really are. On the other hand, it shows how scared they are and they’re getting desperate.

Some 527 needs to make a youtube ad

with Sarah Palin’s statement of support for her daughter and pride in their new grandchild,

followed by BHO’s “wouldn’t want them punished with a baby”.

Yes, it’s unsettling when you look Satan right in the eye.

However, what you’re seeing is his defeat.

No decent person can stomach raw, true, leftist ideology.

To defeat the left,
expose the left.

I've never understood the logic of this line about a "difficult decision".

Logic is one of the first casualties among those who have accepted abortion as policy. You have to have either a fractured mind, or a dead heart, or both, to argue for abortion.

"What about the 25 MILLION women who have been murdered in abortuaries since 1973?"

Not only these millions of female babies who have not been allowed to have life and liberty outside the womb, but their posterity!

Does anyone seriously consider that there are generations after generations in America who will never exist because of that single court "decision" in 1973 and the subsequent "choices" it spawned?

It is not just a single life that is affected each time a woman makes the "choice" to destroy the life and liberty of her unborn child.

By doing a recent family history, my research uncovered a fact that none in our current generations knew about--a great-grandfather, as well as his sister, were born out of wedlock. The story had never been repeated past the first generation.

Both the boy child and his sister married, lived wonderfully talented and successful lives in their individual communites, raised large families of their own, and were honored in their local newspapers with glowing obituaries.

Now, there are literally thousands of heirs of that young girl who, without a husband, carried two children to full term alone, gave birth, and worked as a housekeeper in other people's homes in order to raise them. None of the achievements and contributions of these thousands, and even generations yet to come, would have been possible if that young girl had taken advantage of what many today mislabel as "a woman's right to choose" death over life for her children.

"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them."

Life and the liberty to enjoy it--inextricably linked by the Hand who gave them.

Under the circumstances, and the furor the left is going into about Sarah and Bristol Palin opting to have their babies under adverse circumstances, putting a PP lobbyist up to laud Obama because he'll fight for, and I quote, “a woman’s right to choose”, is an act

a. so audaciously Orwellian that even the Ministry of Truth might have shrunk from it, and
b. so tone-deaf that I’m tempted to call the people responsible “mentally retarded”. Except it’s not nice to call people “mentally retarded” any more. So I’ll call them “developmentally disabled” and let it go at that.

Hey! All DemboLib females that don’t want to have to make the “hard” choice to kill their babies should be given fast, safe, and free sterilizations...Then they can slut around all they want, through their lives, and not even have to take the pill.
From age 13 on...They just have to show evidence their parents are Democrats/Liberals. Don’t need to actually bring a parent in...

Ding dongs.

In places like conservative Appalachia, that ad will only serve to reinforce why a vote for McCain is important. Those rats simply do not understand that not every woman is for abortion. Birth control, yes; abortion, not so much. Besides which, if Roe v Wade was overturned wouldn’t it go back to the states to decide? And isn’t “Roe” actually now pro-life?
