TORONTO A chunk of ice shelf nearly the size of Manhattan has broken away from Ellesmere Island in Canada's northern Arctic, another dramatic indication of how warmer temperatures are changing the polar frontier, scientists said Wednesday.

This handout image shows Markham Fiord in August 2008 after the Markham Ice Shelf broke away. Two ice shelves in Canada's far north have lost massive sections since August while a third ice shelf now is adrift in the Arctic Ocean, said researchers Wednesday who blamed climate change. The text doesn’t say anything about the amount of ice there is this season, it just makes it look like “what little is left, is going away”

THE EARTH IS CHANGING EVERY MOMENT....It's zipping in its' orbit at 67,000 miles per hour, rotating on its' axis and "wigglin", too.
We know ABSOLUTELY that it's temperature has flucuated during the time of its' existance from a deep cold to today. There is no real "mean".
Volcanoes blow off steam, earthquakes rubble, the winds fluctuate, sea levels rise and fall, animals NATURALLY become extinct.
In the realm of the whole, we are miniscule. Man is the soul of the earth...not its' maker.

Apparently this loser crap scientist missed the earlier article this afternoon talking about the arctic ice sheet being about double the thickness and that it’s growing rapidly.
The one thing we can thank ‘global warming’ for is exposing all the crap scientists we should not give very much credit to when it comes to predictions.

Yup! Leave the terrorists on it till it melts and blame their demise on AlGorebull and his warming scam. May be he will volunteer his new houseboat to rescue one or two.
I can't wait to see the photos in the MSM of a couple of them clinging to a few square feet of ice and hear the whining cries of the leftists.

didn’t I read a couple of weeks ago that the reason why the polar ice cap is melting is because of volcanic activity under the north pole? - if someone remembers the article - I would be happy if you would post it.

This is going to send all those Ice Road Truckers to the unemployment line, doubling the unemployment figures of Canada. Meanwhile, in other news, satellite data reveals that the extent of arctic ice for 2008 is 13% above that observed for 2007, representing an area twice the size of Germany. Maybe those truckers won’t be on the dole after all.

I recently watched the BBC-produced "Global Warming Swindle" documentary.
There was a Japanese weather scientist who talked about this. He said that reporters come to him whenever a large chunk of ice breaks off the ice shelf. They want him to provide gloom and doom quotes for their next breathless report on global warming.
He said he tells them that ice has been breaking off those shelfs for millions of years. It's as normal as leaves falling off the trees in fall.
He said they always pack up and go find somebody else who will tell them its a disaster.
