Barack Obama has struggled for 18 months to lock down the support of a traditionally Democratic group, Jewish voters.
In the past week, John McCain may have helped Obama with his Jewish problem by choosing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate....
"There is almost always an inverse proportion between a candidate's popularity among conservative Christians and secular Jews," said Jeff Ballabon, a Republican lobbyist long active in Jewish politics who supports McCain.
An illustration of that gap came just two weeks ago, when Palin's church, the Wasilla Bible Church, gave its pulpit over to a figure viewed with deep hostility by many Jewish organizations: David Brickner, the founder of Jews for Jesus.
Palin's pastor, Larry Kroon, introduced Brickner on Aug. 17, according to a transcript of the sermon on the church's website.
"He's a leader of Jews for Jesus, a ministry that is out on the leading edge in a pressing, demanding area of witnessing and evangelism," Kroon said...
Brickner also described terrorist attacks on Israelis as God's "judgment of unbelief" of Jews who haven't embraced Christianity.
Palin was in church that day, Kroon said, though he cautioned against attributing Brickner’s views to her....

Perdogg, just wait until Sarah Palin goes on the late night TV shows and people see how down-to-earth and likable she is. This will help get more people to vote for McCain. Lieberman peaked a long time ago. He would not do much to help. If - at this point - someone isn’t convinced McCain/Palin is the way to go, then they will never crossover anyway.

Your falling for the pathetic attempt at comparing the church experiences of Barry and Sarah Palin is surprising, and just exactly what the MSM is after.
Somehow equating the bubbling cauldron of hatred that calls itself reverend wright with an organization that merely offers the love of Christ to the Jewish people just strikes me as weird.

McCain and his people met the Sunday before his pick of Sarah Palin and rightfully came to the conclusion that they could not get away with picking Joe Lieberman. The conservative base and talk radio would openly revolt....me along with them too.

I'm not sure that this statement is still true. Anybody have the numbers on how well GWB did with the Jewish Vote? I suspect he did very well.

Bavid Brickner didn’t found Jews for Jesus. Moishe Rosen did. I think Brickner is the current president/leader of the organization, which is very Jewish and pro-Jew. Jesus was a Jew and is their Messiah, which the “Jews for Jesus” simply point out to those Jews who are interested.
And when Joe Lieberman is campaigning in South Florida for McCain, the old jewish retirees there will ignore him and vote for Obama of the Trinity Racist Church? I don’t think so! This feeble attempt to portray Palin as anti-semetic will backfire on the Dems. They are only pulling it out because they know Lieberman will give McCain cred with Jews that Obama will never have.
well, there I’ll have to part ways with you. Jews for Jesus is attempting to convince Jews that Jesus was the promised Messiah, in other words to become Christians. So it’s mutually exclusive with being Jewish to be a Jew for Jesus. But other than that, I don’t think Jews object to them any more than they do to any other attempts to proselytize.

And what sort of a relationship is there between a candidate who is extrememly popular with Muslims and Jews? Yeah, Barry’s got the Jewish vote locked up.

THIS IS GARBAGE. Sure, there are lots of crazy crazy liberal reform Jews who would rage against Palin. But they were way on board for Obama already. The talk I’ve heard lately consists of: concerns that Obama isn’t even an American citizen, how overblown the controversy is about Palin’s teen daughter, and how Palin has an Israeli flag in her office.
Identity politics approaches satire level. Its like Mel Brooks and Jerry Seinfeld having a pissing contest.
The Jewish vote is going to go to the Dems regardless. It is quixotic to pursue it. There are far more evangelicals out there and most of them are solid conservatives.
The last time I checked, Joe Lieberman was still listed as being of the Jewish faith. In fact, he’s the fist and only Jewish person that I know of who has run for Vice President of either party and last night he endorsed John McCain and Sarah Palin. She obviously didn’t scare him away.
