Election Will Change Nothing, Says Obama-Backer Fr. Pfleger Tuesday, September 02, 2008 By Nicholas Ballasy
(CNSNews.com) - Fr. Michael Pfleger -- long-time friend of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, who he endorsed for president early on said nothing will change in America no matter who is elected in November, apparently contradicting Obama's famous campaign slogan, "Change We Can Believe In."
If you are silly enough to think that a new person in the White House can change the situation, said Pfleger in an Aug. 3 sermon, that's like saying we got good food in prison now but you're still in prison, stupid. Yeah, you got a new menu but you're still behind bars in case you didn't notice."
Pfleger is the pastor of St. Sabinas Catholic Church in Illinois. On May 25, Pfleger spoke at Trinity United Church of Christ, where Obama worshipped for two decades, and attacked Obamas Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, with mocking remarks and racial innuendos. Obama resigned from Trinity United several days later.

The only “bars” are the bars Pfleger and the rest of his radical ilk keep trying to put around us.
Why is Pfleger still a priest? Why hasn’t he been kicked out of the church either by his archbishop or Rome?
If this guy is a priest, I’m Spencer Tracy!
Mostly, he’s right, I fear.
Any Catholic who supports a “pro-choice” candidate should be ex-communicated from the church. There is no room for interpretation of the commandment “Thou shalt not kill”.
Why the Catholic heirarchy isn’t behind the GOP is something I’ve never understood. The values of the right are much more in line with the philosophies of the church. We support charity, life, helping one another, etc. The left supports government, which if allowed would hamstring the church.
I don’t know what this guy is talking about. Is he saying that being a US citizen is like being in jail? What does that mean? That we don’t have any freedom? If so, that’s just plain nuts. And, if it is like being in jail, I’d rather be here than in - oh, say - Kenya or Zimbabwe or Iran or Russia or Georgia - or anywhere else on earth.
There are many, many reasons for this, none are very satisfactory.
1. Many early 19th century whigs were nativist, anti-catholic, anti-papist.
2. The Popes never looked favorably upon republicanism. Especially after the French Revolution.
3. The american church never looked favorably upon abolitionism and were by and large opposed to Lincoln's civil war.
4. The Republican party has occasionally been very timid about supporting those now called social conservatives. Country club rino's have ruled the party far too often since Lincoln was shot.
5. Cagey democrats (including catholic bishops) have preyed upon the ignorance of catholics concerning doctrines about the death penalty, war, and social justice.
6. The church changes oh so slowly. It is far more Republican today than ever before.
