"I think Michael is going to play a major role ... in the not-too-distant future back in Maryland, becoming a statewide leader in a way that I think would be terrific," Newt Gingrich, a former GOPAC leader and speaker of the House, said last month at the group's convention in Washington.

Another one that I LIKE very much....
Michael Steele is articulate, humorous and has a TON of common sense.
To Democrats, Michael Steele is an "uppity colored".
To Democrats, Bobby Jindal is a 7/11 manager.
To Democrats, Conservative Jews show that "Hitler didn't finish the job."
Well, what a snarky little article!
I love Michael and I wish McCain could have two vice-presidents. Perhaps McCain will be smart and invite him to sit in his cabinet. In any case, does anyone know what the schedule is so I can figure out about when Michael might speak? I have a lot to do tonight and can’t ignore my obligations but don’t want to miss Lt. Gov. Steele either.
He was on my “wish list” for Veep. Then came Sarah...
Hit it out of the park tonight, Michael. Sarah needs a running mate in 2012.
Steele was one of my choices too....but I think the choice of Palin at this juncture is sheer genius. Given the reactions and dirt-digging of the Left....it was the right one. Lol...
Tonight is Michael’s coming out party!
Palin/Steele 2012!
It really would be great if he became McCain’s Press Secretary.
I’d love for this to be true, but Steele is going to have a tough time finding a spot in Maryland from which to “relaunch.” Ehrlich has first dibs on O’Malley. The Senate was a no-go.
Where does he fit? He can’t go back to State Legislative Politics.
P.G. County isn’t a fit for him, and he’s too conservative to get elected in Montgomery County. Plus, he’d have to take on the VanHollen machine, so that doesn’t work.
Now that’s a good idea.
I’d be inclined to tell Bobby to take a seat and give the Man of Steele a shot at Mayor Carcetti.
Ehrlich’s had his shot, what reason is there to think that he’d beat O’Malley this time around?
I can’t wait to hear him speak tonight! I’ve heard a lot about him and am looking forward to his speech!
"Perhaps McCain will be smart and invite him to sit in his cabinet."
I'm another Michael Steel fan. And I like your idea.
Quick note: Steele is speaking tonight, but Rudy isn’t (per Fox News crawl)
What time does Steele go off?
WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO
WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO
Steele was treated very poorly by the Bush Administration. I felt ashamed that he was not given some sort of encouragement. He is just what the Republican Party needs, and strategists and higher-ups who do not see this are fools. I’m sure Steele feels great loyalty to Maryland, but it is a stubbornly Democrat state and he has little future here. He needs to take part in the McCain-Palin Adminstration and then the Palin Adminstration after that. He could do immense good in reaching out to black voters and persuading them that they do not need to stay on the plantation (to use Star Parker’s phrase).
Mine too.
His speaking tonight shows he’s on his way up the ladder.
I’ll be watching.
Black Republicans....truly unheralded and smeared by the leftist gargoyles. Why most Black Americans reject the finest among them is maddeningly insane. Blinded liberalism poisoning of the sheeple syndrome.
So much worse...
In Maryland, they threw Oreo cookies at him during some of his campaign stops.
I had the pleasure of meeting Michael Steele twice. Once at an Ehrlich-Steele fundraiser, the second at a gig I played where he was the guest speaker. About that second meeting, it was for a state-workers group, of whom at least 75% were black, and he was well received.
It’s like the time I was driving along in western MD and tuned into a radio station talk show. Just before it faded out someone said, “you’d be surprised at just how many black Republicans there were.”
Democrats don’t want to acknowledge this, but as more and more blacks work their way into prosperity, they are throwing of the shackles of liberal-victimization and embracing conservative ideals.
