Imagine the outrage in feminist circles if a conservative columnist had mockingly analogized a sitting Dem governor to an animal. But Richard Cohen has said as much of Sarah Palin. And I predict you won't hear a peep from the Kim Gandys or Naomi Wolffs of the worldmuch less from their allies in the MSM.
Cohen begins his WaPo column of today by dismissing Palin as "a sitcom of a vice presidential choice and a disaster movie if she moves up to the presidency." After noting Newt's defense of her nomination, Cohen continues [emphasis added]:
"It's a pity Gingrich was not around when the Roman Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, better known by his nickname Caligula, reputedly named Incitatus as a consul and a priest. Incitatus was his horse."

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Funny... he looks like an ‘edupig’ to me...
This guy clearly got so many wedgies in school they damaged his brain.
Or, to paraphrase Charles Henrickson, like Obama naming his salad Arugula.
He’s not named ‘dick’ for nothing...
Is this Chris Cringle or a midget!?
What Suetonius actually says (Gaius Caligula, ch. 55) is consulatum quoque traditur destinasse--"and it is also said that he planned to make him [Incitatus] consul."
It's always good to be a little skeptical of reports of unrealized intentions.
Lots of left-wing *men* are bashing Governor Palin...but what are the women of the Left saying?
LOL!!
Ms. Palin is now a horse. Let’s keep the misogyny moving forward.
Dick Cohen is exactly that.
...and what was Mr. Cohen-head’s view on the deep and wide experience of Barack Hussein Obama?
Well it’s easy to spot which end of the horse to compare this columnist to.
Let’s just say he hasn’t compared him to any animals lately...
just saw Susan Estrich, a fairly good source for women on the left, and she was horrified by things that have been said and written by her own ‘team’about Gov Palin.
Although, in fairness, Susan is a LOT better than most lefties. She actually tends to think issues through, albeit from a liberal perspective. Too many libs, male and female, don’t have or use that mental processing ability.
FYI..some years back, Cohen’s administrative assistant filed a sexual harassment suit against him... she won, and he was reprimanded by his bosses at the WaPo..
Nobody wraps fish in newspapers any more but there actually is a rational use for the Wash. Post due to its general size and shape: it works nicely for patterning shotguns.
You know, if the left keeps attacking Palin this way, they’ll have every woman who isn’t a doctrinaire Communist turning out to vote McCain/Palin just out of spite.

E UNDERBUS POSSUM
All the libs bleatings about Palin’s supposed lack of experience is a facade. If she had announced that she was pro-choice, once more they’d all be celebrating the maverick John McCain for choosing such a wonderful candidate. In my view, especially regarding lib female journalists, it all comes down to her position on abortion. These fools never considered Obama’s vast inexperience. They knew he was on the same socialist page as they are.
There used to be a TV show called “Have Gun, Will Travel” (1957-1963). Richard Boone (”Paladin”) was a gunslinger who had a picture of the knight chesspiece (a horse) on his holster.
Once my granparents were watching an episode when the bad guys were making fun of Paladin’s holster. They said, “I always wanted a horse’s head.” Paladin replied, “You already have one.” My grandfather said, “In real life, he would have said, “You’re already a horse’s *ss.”
Which is what Cohen looks like here.
McCain naming Palin his vice-presidential choice is like Caligula naming his horse Incitatus as a consul and a priest, which is also a lot like a sexist veteran journalist creep named Richard Cohen hitting on a young, up-and-coming female journalist named Devon Spurgeon!
Well, OK - no, it's not, but I just had to remind Freepers what a sexist creep Cohen is, and that his views on Palin are probably related to the fact that he can't grope Sarah like he probably wishes he could, because he'd get his misogynist scumbag *ss kicked by either Sarah, Todd or their son Track.
Once again: Richard Cohen (Washington Post) Gets Kid-Gloves Treatment in Harassment Case
Se my post #26 for what is probably driving Cohen to distraction over Governor Palin. :-)
DICK Cohen has always lived up to his nickname.
See my post #26, which fleshes out your post.
Just WOW!
Has Sarah got these people scared $hitless or WHAT!
McCain couldn't have thrown Holy Water or a Wafer on them and gotten them more riled.
McCain should ask Nancy Reagan if they can borrow the flag from RR's coffin to hang in the convention hall and really have the Drive-by media and the Left go absolutely nuts.
This is nearly an exact same post from the DU on friday or saturday. It was excerpted here. Hmmmmm.
Richard Cohen could never be confused with Kris Kringle (Cohen's far too nasty). As far as midget goes, well, yes, (at least mentally)...
the infowarrior
DICK Cohen is friends with Don Imus, which says alot...
Henceforth, we may refer to the author of the extant horseball a "horse's ass".
Ladies, and Gentlemen of the Jury, I rest my case...

another self hating Jew in the media bashing a woman
the fact she is a Christian conservative drives them wild..
why are they not considered religious bigots?
