I don’t know what Barack Obama and his speechwriters were smoking but this speech is a disaster. The entire Democratic Convention had no theme and did not attack John McCain enough. This speech is boring, angry, whiny, lecturing, and full of very little specifics. I don’t know who told the Obama’s not to smile but Michelle and Barack are not smiling enough.

Barack is coming off as an angry, arrogant, and pretentious candidate.

Oh and he just brought out the “recruiting an army of teachers, and paying them a better salary” garbage that we heard on the primary trail, since when can the federal government get involved in the state hiring of public school teachers.

I can only imagine a non political person tuning into this speech and asking, “why is this guy yelling at me, what is he so angry about, is this what hope and change looks like”.

He’s angry because he knows he is going to be served papers in the lawsuit Berg filed in Philadelphia, PA. Almost everyone else who is a plaintiff has already been served papers.

Obama is going to have to come clean on his past or have his name wiped off ballots all across the nation.

Sorry, angry will work. If the category he’s losing the most in to McCain is being the CIC, then yelling every now and then isn’t going to make things worse.

He did what he needed to do, I don’t think he won over a lot of people but he did some. Now it falls upon McCain to win them back

The anger was on purpose. It's supposed to be infectious. You, or at least the "undecided", and of course the DemonRat base, are supposed to be angry. Angry at George Bush, and by "association" angry at John McCain, who after all "agrees with Bush 90% of the time".

Calm introspective types don't vote for far left candidates, in any great numbers anyway. An angry voter is a motivated voter. They might even lay off the weed, crack or crank long enough to go to the polls in November.

Hmmm ... I wonder ... Obama's mentor at some point while Obama was in Hawaii, between the ages of 10 and 18, was the well known communist, Frank Marshall Davis, who was apparently a pedophile, as reported at Obama's teenage mentor liked sex with kids. I see the potential for a deep vein of anger there.

However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank."

The reason is apparent: Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member. What's more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several communist-front organizations.

As for the teachers stuff -- combine that with his line by line deletion of things in the federal budget and it becomes clear that Constitutional restrictions don't seem too important to him. He makes it sound as if he will be able to command compliance once he assumes power... Probably all part of that "New Kingdom" he envisions being able to make..
