Congressman Ron Paul says there is 'no difference' between US presidential candidates, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain.
"Their foreign policies are identical," the Texas congressman said in an interview with CNN on Thursday. "There's no difference."
"They want more troops in Afghanistan. They want to send more support to Georgia to protect the oil line there. Neither one says bring home the troops from Iraq from the bases -- you know the bases are going to stay there, the embassy as big as the Vatican, that's going to remain. So their foreign policies are exactly the same," he added.
The former Republican presidential candidate said that the two candidates are both threats to the US national interests.
"We create the threats! Why are we on the borders of Russia provoking the Russians? I mean, the Georgians initiated the military attack against these enclaves where there were mostly Russians... It's a fact that we're over there that we create these crises."

The dude is on crack.
Ron Paul’s FP views are much closer to Barack Hussein Obama’s, but here he’s saying typical libertarian bs, and why he’s just a rarer breed of RINO.
This is the same Ron Paul who endorsed the notorious Pork Barreling, pocket-lining Don Young for renomination in Alaska. This further undermines his small-government credentials.
There are so many issues that drastically differentiate the two candidates, which shows Paul is a fool if he believes his own words....
Iran?????
Bingo! Agree with you completely!
Ron Paul is a moron, just like Bob Barr. Both of them drank the stuck on stupid kool-aid.
No Difference, Paul?? You are smoking some crazy weed that LIBERTARIANS like!!

Poor fat kid.
Considering Ron Paul supporters were part of the crowd that ganged up on Michelle Malkin, they, just like him, are dimwits.
We had a taste of Paul supporters at our County and then State Convention. Why they are Republican is beyond me — all wanted all of our troops home yesterday and I mean all from around the world.
Congressman Ron Paul says there is ‘no difference’ between US presidential candidates, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain.
And there are people that actually wanted this moron to be President???
I have no great like for John McCain but only an idiot does not see a differnce between him and Nobama............
Better be careful—there are still “Paul-bearers” on this sight that will flame you for questioning “his eminence”.
I too vote for “ fool “...although idiot may also cover his condition
Both yapping idiots with little experience for the job.
I guess the Iranians must love RuPaul.
Paul really supported Young? I’m surprised, he loses all credibility.
I see he takes the DU position on Georgia too. Shame he’s the leading libertarian around.
LOL
Let’s see....
Obama- Supports Infanticide McCain- Pro-Life
Obama- Higher taxes McCain- Lower taxes
Obama- Porker McCain- Opposes earmarks
Obama- Voted to defund the troops McCain- Votes to fund troops in battle
Obama- For surrender McCain- For victory
Obama- 140 days on the job McCain- 25+ years on the job
Obama- Spent his youth sucking up to commies and terrorists McCain- Spent his youth being tortured for this country
Nope, not a lick of difference.. Bump to see how the Ronpologists spin this one. They have excuses for everything.
I am no McCain lover but I can see the difference between them.
Obama is the unwitting tool of a very well heeled and determined group of one-worlders and socialists determined to take America down.
They have masterfully manipulated the Democrats to gain the nomination for Obama.
They have been prepping the way for him (or a different dupe) for years by fostering blind hate for Goeorge Bush, America, The WOT, the Patriot Act and Conservatism.
Hillary lost the nomination because the Clintons didn't realize they were up against a well organized and extremely wealthy group determined to take control of America using Obama as the front man.
They entered the campaign thinking they were up against a realative naive new comer when in fact Obama is just the puppet of Soros and others who poured more money into his campaign than the Clintons ever dreamed of.
Obama is just a convenient vessel to carry the campaign for the powerful forces behind his campaign.
He didn't raise record amounts of money with $10 dollar contributions from blacks and liberal college professors. He is the personable, not too bright front man that could be be used to tap into the leftist liberal guilt and the black resentment in order to win the nomination.
If Obama wins this election it will be the end of freedom and democracy in America. Look at the heavy handed Gestapo tactics his supporters are already using.
Lisa Evers is the conservative in the cap in that oldie. Her she is today... Reporting the news when a passerby tries to slip a $1 bill into her bra...

“Obviously, everyone’s having a good time here.”
LOL.
Paul: Not ready to endorse McCain, likes Obama's foreign policy
Just lost respect for Dr. Paul.
It’s clear why Ron Paul got nowhere with his presidential run.
He’s stupid.
Yet you will hear this same line of “reasoning” from some freepers.
Figure.
LLS
Ron Paul is wrong on this. I am no great fan of McCaniac, and certainly not Obamassiah, but there are real differences between them. the only few things in common: they are male, they breathe oxygen, they wear clothing, they are senators, and they are in love with themselves. After that - lots of minor and major differences.
A blatant Falsehood.

You have a source for that? I don’t believe it for a second.
Ron Paul continues to prove he’s a complete moron.
Thas a Fac Jac!!
Libertarian ping! To be added or removed freepmail me or post a message here.
Ummmm, you were a Giuliani fan. You really don't have room to talk.
Believe it, but not how people here are spinning it. He endorsed Young because he supports the Liberty amendment, which would bar the federal government from operating any business-type activities and abolish the federal income tax. Kinda hard to have earmarks without an income tax.
He (Paul) really caught me by surprise with his endorsement. His reasoning (which you posted) was a big relief to me - I can understand endorsing a crook like Young, in an attempt to advance the cause of liberty.
And let's be honest - how many congressmen, both elected and aspiring, are not crooks. Who's to say that Young's challengers aren't worse than he is?
As far as Dr. Paul's statement that there's no difference between osama and mccain goes, you need to understand that Paul sometimes makes inflammatory statements like this to gain attention and encourage debate. I'm sure he knows there are differences between them, but he feels like I do - there just ain't enough difference between the two to vote for one over the other.
Of course, if forced to chose between the two, I'd vote for mccain - I'm sure Paul would too. After all, it wasn't too long ago mccain told a Paul aide that he was working for the most honest man in Washington. That rare bit of honesty on mccain's part would surely get him Paul's vote.
But as long as we continue to accept that our only choice is between the candidate of the dem wing or repub wing of the single ruling party we have now, we'll just keep moving leftward and downhill as a country.
Who’s Ron Paul?
Liberty bump
“Considering Ron Paul supporters were part of the crowd that ganged up on Michelle Malkin”
Nice try.
“Just lost respect for Dr. Paul.”
Not sure why. Check the date on the story. Paul’s foreign policy has always been non-interventionist. Obama is an interventionist at home and abroad. This is just one soundbite in which RP was merely expressing support for some of Hussein Obama’s (phony) statements against the war in Iraq. Since that time, Obama (D-Kenya) has made it quite clear that all rhetoric aside, he’s just another left-neocon on foreign policy.
Don’t worry, we’ll all be non-interventionists after the private federal reserve FRN “dollar” craters and the federal government is unable to borrow money from Red China to pay for either Iraq or Afghanistan.
Obama- Supports Infanticide McCain- Pro-Life
Neither has co-sponsored RP’s HR2597, which would define life as beginning at conception and nullify Roe vs. Wade.
Obama- Higher taxes McCain- Lower taxes
Obama tax & spend; McCain borrow and spend. Neither would do anything to end the inflation tax (now at least 10%, probably heading to 20% in 2 yrs).
Obama- Porker McCain- Opposes earmarks
Obama and McCain both vote for the spending bills - no one forces either to do so. Earmarks keep the spending decisions in Congress, which is better than giving them to the executive branch.
Obama- Voted to defund the troops McCain- Votes to fund troops in battle
Are you referring to the off-budget supplemental spending bills? Please elaborate.
Obama- For surrender McCain- For victory
Obama for globalism, foreign intervention, destruction of sovereignty and surrender to the Mexican invasion. McCain same.
Obama- 140 days on the job McCain- 25+ years on the job
Obama hasn’t had a chance to betray our POWMIA’s, or take part in a Keating 5, but give it time.
Obama- Spent his youth sucking up to commies and terrorists McCain- Spent his youth being tortured for this country
Neither will restore limited constitutional government.
That's one way to look at it. I prefer to look at it in terms of Paul's main policy stances. In terms of monetary policy, foreign policy, taxes, and spending, the two major candidates are largely the same. With either candidate, we will still have a terrible and destructive monetary policy. with either candidate, we will still have troops in 130 countries and we will still stick our head where it doesn't belong. With either candidate, we will still be taxed on our incomes, and couple that will the Fed's printing press and the warfare/welfare machine will not lack money. With either candidate, no real changes will be made on spending, because there is no incentive to do so.
I agree with you completely - the end result of a mccain or osama administration will be the same; a weaker, less free and less safe US.
My post was addressed to the rabid Paul-haters who took his statement literally, and to the mccain-backers who believe that a corrupt, liberal, pro big-gov't, pro-amnesty (R) candidate is substantially superior to a corrupt, liberal, pro big-gov't, pro-amnesty (D) candidate.
Personally, I think the last president that we've had (and will ever have) to leave the nation in better shape than before he took office was Calvin Coolidge. Robert Taft probably would have done so, and Reagan might have, had he governed as he campaigned.
Sad fact is, the kind of presidential candidates we'll be offered in the future, when the majority third-world electorate is in place, will make us yearn for a president of the caliber of either mccain or osama.
