Cantor Chosen for VP! (By a Blog)
Wash Post ^ | 8/28/08 | Ben Pershing

Posted on 08/28/2008 3:24:28 PM PDT by pissant

Three news items:

1) John McCain has picked a running mate and may announce/leak the choice tonight.

2) McCain has admitted he is computer "illiterate."

Both of which make it unlikely that he will be much swayed by ...

3) "The Directors" of the conservative site Red State have endorsed Rep. Eric Cantor (Va.) as the best choice for VP.

Why Cantor? "While a young man, Cantor has served in federal office twice as long as Barack Obama -- and was a member of leadership when Obama was still in Springfield. In that short time, he has established himself as a dedicated and intelligent member of the House," the directors -- the six bloggers who make up the site's board -- write, later concluding: "John McCain makes people of all political stripes proud to be American. Eric Cantor will make you proud to be a Republican. We need him. He fights."

Cantor's endorsement by the influential conservative blog marks the apex of the Virginian's VP boomlet. Never quite mentioned on any final short-lists, Cantor nonetheless does appear to have been at least considered for the post and has earned a fair amount of media coverage and a Web site touting his candidacy.

ACU rating won’t determine whether or not I like the guy or not.

That aside he seems like a pretty solid choice.

Nope, 96.83 makes him a RINO. LOL.. waiting to see how many actually call him a RINO if he is chosen.

No, freepers reserve the RINO tag for people like McCain who somehow manage to get a 60% ACU rating and still call themselves a "foot-soldier in the Reagan Revolution".

I wouldn’t worry about it. McCain will do what McCain will do. Obama is like a bowlful of dog poop. McCainis like a bowlful of sour milk. A good VP choice will be like putting catsup in it. A bad VP choice will be like spitting in it. It will still be a bowlful of sour milk.

Over time, if treated correctly, a bowl of sour milk turns into cheese. The right VP choice can make a difference as to the direction of the party.

ACU ratings are based on a specific set of measurements. Politicians who want a high rating know exactly which buttons to push to keep that rating high...independent of what ever they really think. I don't put much stock in the number.

She may or may not be very conservative. Sounds like she is a rising star. But at this point in her young career she is a 1/2 term governor with no knowledge of geopolitics or warfare. My rule of thumb is if they did not make a good idea for president, then they don’t make a good idea for VP.

Not many people in this country have a clue what is going on, let alone what the future is going to bring. The government will take care of all problems because the government will make sure of it. Votes are still substance and have real impact. If they vote to pander to a Conservative organization, good for them. It is better than some of the so called Conservative purists who talk a lot but the substance of their votes are to the left of even McCain..
