In the next few hours, we have a crucial opportunity to fight one of the most cynical and offensive smears ever launched against Barack.
Tonight, WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears. He's currently scheduled to spend a solid two-hour block from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. pushing lies, distortions, and manipulations about Barack and University of Illinois professor William Ayers.
Tell WGN that by providing Kurtz with airtime, they are legitimizing baseless attacks from a smear-merchant and lowering the standards of political discourse.

Kurtz has been using his absurd TV appearances in an awkward and dishonest attempt to play the terrorism card. His current ploy is to embellish the relationship between Barack and Ayers.
Just last night on Fox News, Kurtz drastically exaggerated Barack's connection with Ayers by claiming Ayers had recruited Barack to the board of the Annenberg Challenge. That is completely false and has been disproved in numerous press accounts.
It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our public airwaves. At the very least, they should offer sane, honest rebuttal to every one of Kurtz's lies.
Kurtz is scheduled to appear from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the Chicago market.

I listen to the program ( It’s archived ) The Obama supporting callers could not offer any substantial evidence to counter the information the guest presented on this radio program. The Obama camp is desperate to put a lid on this story.
Glenn Beck covered the Ayers ad today. Haven’t heard it yet cause my local station just plays tape later on.

This is pretty narrowly worded. They are trying to defend against charges that they have a long and close relationship and all they can quibble about is whether or not Obama was technically "recruited" by Ayres onto the board? Maybe Obama recruited Ayres? Maybe the same guy that recruited Ayres recruited Obama? Exactly how did it go down?
Of course, Kurtz never said Obama was recruited by Ayres, so its odd they would pick out that detail to hyperventilate over.
How about this one; Ayres recruited Obama into politics life. Deny that one. Ayres and Obama spent 100 million dollars and no one knows what they spent it on. How about that? But Obama will only admit they bumped into each other while walking their dogs. Is that what they call it these days?

One guess as to why Obama does not play up his educational experience more thoroughly now – it certainly could be of use to him one would think in beefing up his “I have the experience to be President” argument – is that it would lead to a renewed discussion of the Ayers connection, which is clearly toxic for Obama. And it turns out the impact of the Annenberg Challenge on actual students in Chicago schools is considered mixed at best, although Bill Ayers deemed it a success on political grounds. Indeed the 1995 and 1999 legislative attempts to recentralize power over the schools in the hands of the mayor did not quite succeed in wresting control completely away from the LSC’s, instead it helped, in the words of Alexander Russo, “keep the flame alive for decentralized, community-based school reform - even as the system was moving in a very different direction.”
This likely explains why Obama tried a kind of head fake when asked about Ayers by George Stephanopoulos in the TV debate with Clinton prior to the Pennsylvania primary. Obama said Ayers was a “professor of english.” Yet, Obama chaired the Annenberg Challenge for three years and served on its board for another three years, working closely with Ayers on grants to Chicago schools. And he did not know that Ayers was a professor of education? That strains credulity.
