PITTSBURGH (AP) The who and the when in the GOP veepstakes are still unknowns.
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain told KDKA NewsRadio in Pittsburgh that he hasn't decided yet on a running mate.
McCain is expected to name his vice presidential pick this week possibly tomorrow to create momentum heading into next week's Republican National Convention.
The Arizona senator has a rally planned for Saturday in Pennsylvania at which both former Governors Tom Ridge and Mitt Romney are scheduled to appear. But McCain cautioned against assuming that meant either one would be the pick.
Other names said to be on McCain's short list are Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and Democrat-turned-independent Senator Joe Lieberman.

C'mon McCain, surprise us with another Vietnam vet, say Duncan Hunter or Ollie North.

How about Michael Steel or Sara Palin.
Talk about change, these two are very impressive.

It seems to me Michael Steele would be the perfect choice and appeal to a lot of us who at present may not vote for any of the presidential candidates. From what I have read and seen, he seems like a straight shooter.

Honestly, I hope it is not Mitt. Anyone who gets the government involved in my life like he did in Mass. with his forced health insurance plan is not a real conservative. Just because he is rich does not equal conservative. Engels was a rich factory owner, yet a co-founder of communism. I look at Mitt the same way.

There’s one thing for sure about all the rampant speculation. McCain is doing a superb job in containing leaks. It’s been over a week ago that his campaign said McCain would be announcing his VP tomorrow, the 28th. And so it shall be. That’s in stark contrast to the Obamessiah’s fiasco surrounding the Bin Biden pick.

Steel may not get chosen this time but that man has a future in the Conservative movement.
