So how the heck are you supposed to take your hunting rifle out to get it worked on if you can’t carry it?
To: The Shrew
Since when is having rifles in your hotel room illegal? I have at least a handgun whenever I am in my hotel.

Oh, the horror! The horror!
God forbid people still hunt in Colorado, and actually try to claim their reservations at hotels where Washington pooh-bahs are staying!!
THE HORROR!
To: The Shrew
Now everyone knows which hotel Pelosi is staying in—the Sheraton.

These officers should be sued for violation of civil rights. There was never any threat, and it is perfectly legal to carry firearms in cases to your hotel room. Colorado is even an open carry state. I guess they are saying that rifles or pistols in a case are “concealed”. Total B.S.
Where the h*ll are these charges coming from? Politics only. Some animals are more equal than others.
To: The Shrew
If they arrested the guy, why did they evacuate the hotel? Sounds like a wrong place, wrong time situation.

Official oppression, oppression under color of authority. Arrest them all -- cops, hotelier, and Pelosi. Take the piano player.

I hope that the taxpayers of Colorado end up making a very lucrative apology to this man.

If there is no more to this story , this gun owner is a lucky man . I doubt a cased rifle would be considered a concealed weapon anywhere in the great state of Colorado. A Thompson in a violin case , maybe , a scoped rifle in a rifle case , no way

When staying in the near presence of Nazi Pelosi and her destructive habits to our country, a guy has to protect himself. The last I knew, the is NO law stating you can't bring a rifle into your hotel room to protect it from being stolen.

I know the feeling.....I was picked up by the cops one time for a similar situation. I had lost my liscence and needed to get my compound bow worked on across town. Since I was not driving I thought nothing of leaving the house without my liscence, just some cash. I walked 2-3 miles to the store and as I walked back I was surrounded by cruisers in front of a day care center! Some nut called in that he was going to kill the kids there. As the cops pulled up I was walking towards the day care with my bow, several arrows and new broadheads...

The last I knew, the is NO law stating you can't bring a rifle into your hotel room to protect it from being stolen. Back in the day, about 1975, I checked into the Howard Johnson's Hotel in downtown New Orleans with a cased rifle in my baggage -- a turnbolt Mossberg in .308. (Sold it years ago.)
The desk and bellboy staff looked at me funny, and later on I remembered that the HoJo had been the site, several months earlier, of an infamous gun battle with a rooftop sniper who got onto the roof of the hotel with a Ruger semiauto carbine in .44 Magnum and started shooting people. But nobody said anything to me, and I went about my business, taking my new job and looking for permanent quarters.
To: The Shrew
While I support the gent and see no problem with his transporting rifles and keeping them in his hotel room, his choice of dates to do this wasn’t too smart.

Generally, there is a Penal Code citation upon which an arrest is made. What charges do they book him on if no law has been violated?

My G-d, the ignorance, hysteria and just plain stupidity over FIREARMS has really reached saturation point in this country. Colorado no less. There’s huntin’ (Kerry talk) in Colorado last time I checked. There are even gun shops, huntin’ license sales, all sorts of weird stuff. You can kill game animals and some non-game animals in Colorado, you can skin ‘em, process ‘em and EAT ‘em, well, you might cook ‘em first.
I guess I’ll take my WEAPON out and hunt a rabbit or two...but then again, I live in a “compound” here in Texas ‘cause I have some Bibles alongside my guns too.
